MacUpdate joins forces with Clario

MacUpdate has announced its new ownership as part of Clario. There will be no change to MacUpdate as a platform and no change to MacUpdate community teams and management.  Clario will invest in MacUpdate to provide an even safer environment for downloads and support an improved experience for the MacUpdate community.

MacUpdate is committed to providing a leading Mac-oriented platform for discovering, installing, and updating apps. Clario’s goal is to provide digital life, secured for people with a focus on Mac.

The first initiative will be to provide a more secure download experience for MacUpdate users.  This has been tested and shown as something that’s important to the MacUpdate community. With 8 new threats appearing every second of every day (BSA), most of them now targeting apps.

MacUpdate has always been known as an independent community where the user’s feedback has the highest value. Clario’s consumer-centric strategy perfectly fits our culture - with its support we’ll be able to develop MacUpdate into the most secure platform, with all improvements determined by our own users.” - Alex Korolev, Head Of Business Development at MacUpdate.

We created Clario to simplify digital privacy and security as we believe that the complexity of the cybersecurity sphere contributes to the growing cybercrime pandemic. MacUpdate is a strong and independent community of Mac users who are always looking for a better choice. We will provide a service to MacUpdate users that ensures they are protected when they install their favorite applications.  For us, this collaboration is an incredible opportunity to support and hear from a well respected MAC community.” - Alun Baker, CEO of Clario.

This new MacUpdate feature will be launched in August, bringing advanced threat protection to MacUpdate users. The new security feature will ensure MacUpdate users’ Macs are protected from threats posed by apps even before they are installed.

The vulnerability checker is free for all MacUpdate users, providing best-in-class antivirus anti-malware technology. The new security feature is powered by Clario solution, successfully showcased at CES 2020 and, reviewed by PC Mag, Mac Observer, and Fast company.
