Incredible what Microsoft engineer do !
I was obliged to buy 365 to be able to work on a recent machine ... and now
Inclusion of excel in word is nearly impossible. it makes crash the whole office environment
And with this new version (16.56), it goes to a new level :(
The excel part is now transparent so all the spreadsheet included in word can't be seen anymore.
Don't they do a minimum of testing ???
the funny thing is that it seems to work in libre office ...
what kind of conclusion can we get ???

It kind of burns me up that I paid for version 16 of MS Office and that at version 16.16.27 Microsoft simply abandoned all further updates for me, but kept on going with the updates for those who rent their software. I paid for version 16 with the assumption that I'd be getting ALL the version 16 updates. I fully realize and expect my license wouldn't cover the next major version, but cutting me loose like this was something nobody would have expected when putting their money down to buy/own a given version.

WRONG!!! The New MS Office only works on 10.15 or later... maybe. MS's BS Sites says Mac OS X version 10.10 or later. NOT TRUE.

WARNING!!!
As usual, MS is full of crap.
I'm on a 2010 Mac Pro with Mojave. Last week I updated Word and Excel from Version 16.55 to the newest (16.54). No email from MS... nothing... it turns out 16.55 of both don't work in Mojave. Spent an hour in chat with an MS rep and he was 100% clueless. I finally figured where the older versions were at the MS site.

How is it that Microsoft Word has only seven reviews on MacUpdate—the oldest barely two years old— and only 6,635 downloads? This is highly suspicious. It appears that somehow someone wanted to eliminate the long history of poor reviews and start fresh. If that is the case, it didn't work as the program is still getting low ratings from users.

16.41 for Mac is an over-egged pudding. There is no 'Go to page' (by page number), even in the set-up-your-own-toolbar section. There are issues with styles too. The damn thing won't hold onto them, even if create them, tick the box that says you can use them all the time globally, quit the app completely, and then use them. They go wrong! There are all sorts of annoying changes pretending to be 'improvements' and I just don't like looking at Word. The design is just

Be wary of Updating Word to 16.32. I've done it 3 times. The MS Updater says Word is updated but it keeps wanting to update it again with the exact same patch.

Industry standard. But I hate it and finally sucked it ups and went to OpenOffice. LibreOffice, and NeoOffice. All do a better job than Word using Word's own default file format. Except NeoOffice they are free. NeoOfice Pro is a onetime sub 30$ charge and is well worth the cash. Quark prefers a docx created by any of these apps vs Word because they do not pollute your document with hundreds of invisible styles that you had no idea that were being created in the background. For me I detest Microsoft's demand that you use their default fonts.
