Nah. Look elsewhere for a VPN. PureVPN, based out of Hong Kong, is forced to follow the VPN rules laid out by Beijing. They've also been caught LYING that they don't log user's activities on the Internet. I do not understand why PureVPN has such poor reviews here. I'm using PureVPN since several years, and I'm very satisfied with their services. Their prices are very competitive.
PureVPN does not only come with a desktop application that puts the whole computer into VPN mode but also has browser plugins for Firefox and Chrome which can be used to put just one browser into VPN mode (and leave the computer as such in its "normal" mode).
On top of that PureVPN also has an app for the Amazon Fire TV Stick which I am using on a regular basis i. e. when I want to watch (geo-blocked) German TV from the United States.
The fact that this is a Hongkong based company does not matter to me since I don't use the service in any way that could be of interest for the Hongkong or Chinese governments. However, this is certainly different for others, and these others should probably better not use PureVPN.

was not bad but new Mac's version (since 6.1...) suffers from problem in Dedicated-ip mode (an maybe also in Stream Mode).
Contacted support finally advised me to go back to a version 5 ! It's not a joke ...
Latest version ( 6.1.2 ) doesn't resolte the issue...
Now, I'm searching un alternative vpn, maybe Windscribe.

Look elsewhere. PureVPN is based in Hong Kong and is therefore subject to the surveillance mandates of China: Criminal Nation. PureVPN is well known to LOG user activity on the Internet and handing it over to law enforcement upon request. And yet, PureVPN has told users they don't log them, i.e. they've lied. There are far better VPNs available. Be sure to read several reviews and do some digging around for dirt before choosing a VPN. There are several excellent VPNs that are not part of the "Five Eyes" nations that share Internet user surveillance. Those nations are: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Equally, there are many VPNs with no association with surveillance maniacal totalitarian governments.

Just switched my ISP to Sonic after abysmal AT&T support and discovered a 'pot of gold'. Sonic provides free VPN as part of their service along with free faxing, especially important for Mac users since Apple took away fax modem support. It is using OpenVPN which is accessed from the menu bar. The installer does the complete setup and it does not involve Apple's network settings. You just install it and it just works. Abet Sonic is a little slower when using their $50 service it is price comparable with AT&T but with much better support.

There is constant DNS leaks and technical support at Nothing can help!
If you want a really good VPN I recommend AirVPN, Perfect Privacy or Windscribe.

As of 5/12/2017 version 5.2.0 works on my Mac (macOS Sierra 10.12.4). Versions 5.5 and 5.6 can't establish connections with the available servers. Once version 5.2.0 connects, latency increases but that is to be expected from a VPN. No significant loss in overall speed is noticed. I miss the ping function available in 5.5 and 5.6 otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

Not good. Dropped connections, slows network let alone that most of the time Safari and Firefox won't work, called customer service a few times, they fixed it with TeamViewer for some time, second time they said couldn't use TeamTV, (?) fixed for another day and tried to get a pro-rate refund but it was denied. 1 star for kind, quick, kind customer service.

AWFUL and not worth all the bad and dropped connections. I have asked for a refund after a week - we'll see if I get one. I am on 10.9.5 and the app version available to me is clumsy, works poorly and half the time i have to connect via system network prefs instead. There are better solutions.

I got a lifetime subscription for not much money from SourceForge Deals a couple of months ago and have never regretted it. Very easy to use and works with many server locations around the world. Geo-checking always shows your selected location. Sometimes a connection may unexpectedly drop so there is a built-in reconnect feature. But in addition to this I use the VPNLoader available here on macupdate to be double-sure.
The great thing is you can view music videos on youtube for example that are blocked in your country.

hi there community take care they are stealing your money, I bought 4 times 12 months licenses from purvpn to use them for the whole family but their servers are not secure at all german webpages find out your geo location with ease as I requested back my money as purevpn is advertising with their 3 days money back guarantee I was left aside for 3 weeks after I started a conflict through paypal who also did not support me with this as it is no phisikal thing a license so purevpn manager had a nice lunch on my costs and I also got no access to my new licenses anyway because I involved paypal. think twice befor you get there any license. greetings a friend
Finger weg von PureVpn hatte mir 4 mal 12-Monats Lizenzen gekauft und festgestellt innerhalb der 3-Tages Geld zurück Garantie Frist, dass der GEO-Standort an Webseiten weitergeleitet wird und deren VPN Dienst ganz und gar nicht sicher ist, wurde 3 Wochen hingehalten mit Mails bis ich zuletzt Paypal einschalten musste, die mich leider auch im Stich gelassen haben weil eine Lizenz keinen physischen Gegenstand repräsentiert, somit hat der liebe Purevpn Manager ein nettes Steak auf meinen kosten genossen MFG ein Freund der Unwissenden

I have been using PureVPN for long time and I am very much satisfied with the services. I have used some other VPN providers too but PureVPN is better mainly due to high number of physically located servers, affordable prices and 24/7 customer support.
