Been using it for years as I listen to my iPod all night and get BBC Radio 4 shows every day. The app is updated regularly when, usually, the BBC makes a change to iPlayer. My wish has always been for the main window to be resizable. I don't understand why it isn't when the other windows are, but this is a very old app that was released into the wild by it's originator and now lives on GitHub, the home of all good software <https://github.com/Ascoware/get-iplayer-automator/releases>

I think it's great. Hope there will be an update soon so that shows go into the TV app on Mac OS Catalina. Still works but just doesn't automatically out the shows in.

Using v 1.15.2 and trying to download fleabag. Searching fro the program returns "no shows found" Trying with "use current webpage" the status shows as available which changes to "waiting" once I click start, but then quickly changes back to available without downloading the show. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

I’m using V 1.14.3. Had a few issues with it over the past few days, seemed to sort itself out and started downloading ok again - but, the file sizes for 30min BBC episode have suddenly gone wild - downloading at 3GB! Any advice on where I should be looking to reduce file sizes please?

iplayer automator crashes when trying to load, updated to the latest and still crashes, `i am on 10.13.3 os but the same problem on 10.12 os. this is very upsetting as I used it all the time, I hope this problem is fixed very soon. if it worked it would get 5 stars but at the moment 0-1. I see I am not the only person with this problem.

I've used this app for years with great success downloading my favorite BBC shows from the US. But for the last few months I have not been able to download any shows from the BBC using this app. I always get some error message. I'm guessing that is caused by the BBC clamping down on people outside the UK using VPNs and proxies to download their shows. A huge bummer.....

The GitHub workround seemed a great solution and I was able to download several iPlayer programmes. But the next day it failed again. It could select the programme from the web page, which it hadn't been able to do before, but when it tried to download it told me "The show could not be found".. If I just entered the PID it said "PID could not be found".. Any suggestions?

I have been using the latest pre-build versions (1.87 pre-3 and now pre-4) to overcome the issue that arose with ITV programs. Now I notice in pre-4 that ITV has disappeared, so I would be interested to know if this likely to be permanent or if the developers are hoping to find a solution. Also and more of an issue for me right now is that since last week whichever version I am trying to use nothing will initialize at all. The log shows it attempts all the formats in turn but then says failed to stream. I uninstalled pre3 and pre-4 and went back to 1.8.6 but still the same result. If anybody can help or assist I can send copies of the logs.

Has been fantastic, and for BBC still is. For ITV I get this error message: Please ensure the frontmost browser tab is open to an iPlayer episode page or ITV Player free catch-up episode page. 4oD is no longer supported. Any suggestions?? I've tried using "use curent webpage" and the iplayer search box. Same result each time.

Love this app, but it seems to have stopped working for me recently. Downloads failing, and proxy errors. Anyone else finding it doesn't work now? No response from Support. Had though maybe my update to El Capitan was to blame, but doesn't work on my other Mac still on 10.9. Would love it working again! Any suggestions?!

An alternative (oddly not listed here at MU) is the Hola add-on for Firefox and Chrome. Hola works great, 5 star. It's terrific to some see some forced sanity going on around the world regarding the listening and watching of international media. Now if only the marketing morons who messed this all up in the first place would go away and let world citizens rule.

For several versions now (over at year), Get iPlayer Automator has not worked for me. It crashes a couple seconds after launching on Mountain Lion and now Mavericks. The latest version, 1.6.2, is no different. Crashes and creates a crash report that says, " *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[NSMachPort attemptDidFail:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x7fd13062e1e0' terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException."

When it works, this is amazing. I especially love the ability to grab subtitles as well—as a deaf person this is invaluable. However, I occasionally have issues where the app just fails to cache and the log doesn't seem to give any info. Sometimes reinstalling the app works, sometimes it doesn't. I tried to follow the link to the developer's site, but got an 'Ooops' 404. It might be something on my system so... please help!

Jaksta downloads everything on screen (and sound), and is of course independent of BBC iPlayer downloader's time-out at a month. Jaksta is weirdly efficient in detecting monitoring, as seen on Menu Bar, 'Monitoring On' at blue flash icon. Jaksta produces a log often showing the name of the recording, auto-downloading to iTunes after video-format conversion. I have Snapz Pro X but found its controls difficult. Jaksta is like a brain of my brain recording the screen output without settings and hassle. If Jaksta works for me it works well for this dimwit. Adrien
