Manage your billing cycles and payments.

Overview

You need Chronicle if you pay bills. It gives you the peace of mind of never having to worry about whether you paid a bill again.

Even if you use another finance application for general finance, you need Chronicle. One late payment can wreak havoc on your credit score, leading to higher interest rates and denied loans-- in short, completely affecting your financial life.

That's why you need Chronicle. Chronicle will remind you when your bills are due, even when it isn't running. And in just a few minutes a month, you can handle everything related to paying your bills.

  • Never forget a bill - get reminded when your bills are due with alerts that can be synced to your iPhone and across all your Macs, even when Chronicle isn't running.
  • Easily pay your bills online using Chronicle's integrated browser, or your default browser.
  • Keep proof of all your payments - store confirmation numbers and receipts right in Chronicle, so you always have proof of your payments.
  • Get reminders in your notification center and put bills on your calendar. Chronicle can remind you via notification center on Mountain Lion, and on all Macs, can add your bills to your calendar so you can visually see when they are due.

What's new in Chronicle Pro

Version 9.1.1:
New:
  • Status Bar icon can now be displayed in orange or red when bills are due soon or overdue (turned on by default, but this option can be turned off in Preferences if you prefer the black or white menu bar)
Improved:
  • Chronicle's overall menu bar appearance has been improved and modernized
  • Chronicle's notification center widget now displays in the correct dark or light mode in Mojave
Fixed:
  • Reports graph could get cut off when window was resized.
  • Several other minor bug fixes

Copied from the LittleFin website: "Free Upgrades. Forever. We understand. Part of the excitement of owning software is the updates and new features that are released. That's why LittleFin offers free upgrades for life on all our software. It doesn't matter if we make small changes or massive upgrades. All updates are always free" and: "LittleFin guarantees that you will receive free upgrades, if any, for the lifetime of the product. You will never have to pay for an upgrade. While we constantly strive to update our software, this does not guarantee that there will be any updates after you purchase a license." Seems this developer has gone back on his word. I know software costs money to create, and the developer needs to eat, but he shouldn't make guarantees and promises for "free upgrades for life" if he can't keep them. Very disappointed as this "guarantee" was a big factor in my purchasing decision.

Using C7, tried C8, and the only difference is Forecast tab with useless feature. And, Yes, in my world it is cheating, promising free updates forever and asking pay again for the really minor update.

Seems unreasonable that there is no free upgrade path for people that have just purchased the app in the past month or two. I even contacted the developer and was told a flat "no".

Wrong.

It is you who made the decision to be afraid of using cloud services.

Be afraid if you choose, but that does not make Chronicle "...Useless with iOS app" except for you. For the rest of us, it is VERY useful to be able to sync with either iCloud or Dropbox.

@ Younkint
It is you who chose to blindly trust and who is so pushy to conclude that Im the only one who is not happy with the syncing options. Not everyone exposes their private info to unknown and to not 100% secured. Imposing rather then letting people to control their everyday life is WRONG.

If I pay for something and my options (for one of the most important features - personal syncing) are removed than its a bad business. Inhancing an app is not about imposing only one way that is easier for developer to operate, but to give the user a freedom to choose more secure and usefull way to use the app that we paid for.

Sense of entitlement is hilarious w/this one. Bottom line is nobody is forcing anything. You dislike it? Delete app. Problem solved. But you want something for free, so that's the problem. Pay a fee once, use forever! Why can't everything in life be like that? When my landlord wonders where his rent check is next month, I'm gonna need you to back me up with my argument against him: "But I already paid once!"

Good marketing amutavdzija.
To delete an app that I have paid for both iOS and OS version? Good joke. Not to mention investing my time to input my data and to rely on something that initally promissed me local syncing and later to remove it because its not convenient for developer to keep it.
I do not understand why do users who are willing to put their personal data on someones server are the most upset with my comments? Are you working for Chronicle? You should have 1Password people as an example of what good company does - listens to their customers.

So, the more you try to silence us, the more Im convinced that you have interest in this company.

Wow, it must be tough waking up every day in an alternative reality of conspiracies and hidden agendas. I work for Chronicle like I work for the sun, stars, and planets. As in, I know they exist and I use something it/they provide. What I do know quite well, though, is how a business works. Study up on that topic right quick and you'll see why people make you pay for what you use.

Great App, just be careful to remember whether you bought it from the MAS or directly from the developer. I didn't realize I had purchased Chronicle from the MAS because in Purchases I had for some reason hidden it. When I saw an update on MacUpdate within the last week or two, I never considered having purchased it from the MAS. I updated from this site. Today, I went to pay bills and nothing showed. Nothing. Years of history and regular bills set up through the year and longer. I freaked! I should have realized what it meant when I could not find a license code anywhere in my email archives, LicenseKeeper, or 1Password. I went to MAS and it wasn't listed in purchases. I checked under my account settings and showed hidden purchases. There it was from back in 2012. I used AppDelete to archive and then delete the current version (just the App-nothing else) I had installed on Chronicle and then reinstalled from MAS. All my data is back! So please save yourself some anxiety and aggravation and check all of your MAS purchases first.

As for Chronicle, I use Quicken (ugh), but together with Chronicle I can keep up, even ahead, of what is due or coming up. I really couldn't function without it, and recommend it wholeheartedly.

I have had some support help with the developer in the past. He's a one-person operation, but still very responsive to his customers.

You SHOULD have a Time Machine or other backup anyway!

Then you wouldn't need to "freak" when something is mistakenly deleted (as long as it's on a RECENT backup).

If you haven't been backing up, let this be a lesson for you on why you need to start doing so IMMEDIATELY.

You need to think about what you'd do if your home burned down or someone stole your computer. I keep several backups and two are in different off-site locations.

Maybe consider an online backup service if you don't have extra drives available.

The App Store version and the downloadable versions seem to be quite out of sync at the moment with the app store landing in at 5.3.1 and the downloadable being 5.5.

Can't I do the same thing with Reminders in conjunction with my financial software? $10 gets me what, again?

Sure, if you have few bills and a simple financial structure that would work fine. What you're missing though is those of us who own various properties, run businesses, are bookkeepers for more than one company, etc, and have hundreds of bills to track. I was going crazy with varied financial software platforms, spread sheets, calendar reminders, etc, to track it all. Chronicle saved my sanity!! For me, $10 in exchange for peace of mind was a bargain!! For you, perhaps not, but don't dis a product without thinking how it might serve others in a different situation. I'm jus sayin : /

If you already have financial software you're happy with then why are you even looking at Chronicle?

I could use more than one app to accomplish many tasks, but I prefer to use one if possible. Why should I use Disk Utility to repair permissions, TechTool to repair and Drive Genius to partition when I could simply use Disk Utility for all of it?

Unlike Thephoenix, I'm just a "regular" guy with credit card bills and other bills to pay, about 8 per month right now.
Frankly, I'm surprised that someone with such complex needs would use such a simple app instead of one of the full-featured ones like iBank.

I don't use any other financial software and would often forget when things were due or if/when I'd paid something.
So I'd have to go online to my bank and log in, then look through the recent activity or past statements to check if I'd actually paid a bill or forgotten it. And sometimes I'd have to go to the cc website to look too.

It's faster and more convenient to open Chronicle and I can see ALL the bills at once instead of checking several websites.

I keep it closed when I'm not using it, so the notifications are extremely helpful for reminding me that a bill is due soon. It has its flaws, but it suits my needs and the price is right.

Many of the apps I looked at were overkill for what I want - I don't need graphs, budgets or syncing with my bank, I just need something to remind me when bills are due and to keep track of the payment history.

My short reply sorta turned into a review but I can't post a rating here, so I may have to use this reply for an actual review in the future.

Please note: There are TWO versions of Chronicle available, and they aren't exactly the same. There is the downloadable version from the developer's web site, and the App Store version, which includes the ability to sync across devices via iCloud. I made the mistake of overwriting my App Store version with the latest downloadable release and wiped out my entire bill data (reminders, history, etc.). If you need the ability to sync via iCloud, do NOT download the version available here!
