Most helpful

I bought WebDesign initially on a daily deal, intending it to be an HTML editor rather than to build a website.. I found it's much, much more than that because not only can you do both, but do it very intuitively. The interface, wizard availability, and "help" it gives you (if needed) equal a terrific package. It's great for modifying an existing website, and will easily work with templates. I've kept my versions updated, and the company has been great whenever needed. I've also bought a couple of their other apps. The new version I just saw today adds something I wanted where it locates the code for your selected element. Very nice. When bringing up this page to download the update, I noticed the sporadic reviews and felt compelled to add mine. It seems to me that WebDesign is just a hidden gem that perhaps has gotten overlooked when searching for a web software.

Rage Webdesign is a very good html editor. Very easy to use, even if you're a HTML newbie, as I am: it's designed to help you write correct code, whether it is on the page you're designing or in the CSS file of your brand new website. The simultaneous preview is absolutely great. Yes, it' worth the price. Yes, it's efficient ans easy to use. Yes, it's powerful. On the minus side, it lacks stability. Many times, I'm going through the different windows of the app (modifying the CSS file, then checking the preview for the changes...) and it freezes, with no reason. Tried it on a friend's mac, and same stuff occurs. Annoying, but then, when reopened, my changes were saved... so it could be worse.

I wanted to make sure I was clear in my review (in case I wasn't) that WebDesign can build sites from scratch too, making the process easier and comprehensive. It gives you results like coding by hand - where you are actually involved with the code - but can also guide you if you are learning. So it's good for all camps: for people who can hand-code and want to build / update a site, for people who want to learn the skill, and for anyone in-between. To me, it fills a gap between using something like RapidWeaver / Sandvox, or using a straight text or HTML editor. It's really a unique program, IMO... for me it's a go-to app that's really great to use and I love it.

"...wizard availability..." Sheesh - why don't "wizards" stay confined to the windows realm and stop trying to infect mac users. These things are more correctly called "Assistants" in Mac parlance. That's because no magic is required when working with Macs.

It looks great and I'll do a proper trial if it is discounted here (and if it lets me), but like all others I've seen and bought, I found it can't import CSV files (exported from Numbers or Excel) as HTML tables - only the much more expensive Dreamweaver can do that.

This is a solid program (especially in light of the latest update) with some nice features, but its competitors make it feel dated. skEdit makes me notably more productive, Taco HTML Edit is pretty solid these days and free, N/vu (also free) isn't far from 1.0 release and handles CSS better in some ways. That said, WebDesign is still worth a look. It's main asset IMO is the extent to which it can be customized, although the design of the plug-ins menu could be much better ... I would rather see a tree menu or single Aqua-style text bars. Icons aren't very efficient. Rage is a good company, in my experience, so here's hoping they're able to pull off a more complete overhaul in near future. Tabbing through attributes is great, especially for beginners, but why not pop-ups for existing Javascript functions? CSS values? Can't help but think how much better it would in a drawer, etc.. Best of luck with future improvements.

This is a great piece of software. The only thing it needs now is an improved table maker with more options, and less crashes.
