Not just to counter all the negative “reviews” but because this thing has worked seamlessly and instantly between MacBook Pro (oder) iPad2 and iPhone 4S since release. And it’s Free? Put it in your menubar and quit yr. bitching. The problem is yours.

Have you found an alternative? My computer is too old to support AirDrop.

I found an alternative called "Instashare" that seems to work great. (No external server required to perform transfers.) I downloaded it from the Apple App Store. The reviews weren't so great but he must have fixed the problem with an update because it seems to work really well.

So apparently Apple bought this... must be the basis of the clipboard sharing feature.

I've been using this for at least a year now, maybe longer. I use it between my Early 2009 iMac, now running 10.10.1, and my iPhone 5, now running iOS 8.1.2. I use this several times everyday to send photos, the clipboard, and URLs back and forth between the devices. It works flawlessly and is a real time saver. Especially since my iMac does not support AirDrop to my phone.

This does not work under 10.6.8 and requires a root password to deinstall.

Fills a very necessary niche. Works perfectly. New documentation maybe could be written, but the app AND the technical support from the developer is beyond excellent!

Just thought I'd report back. The developer was extremely responsive - so much so that today he went the extra mile and contacted me by telephone to help. He clarified exactly what I needed to get Deskconnect doing what I needed. SO rare for tech support to go so far to try to help. Bravo! Since this was a comment, I can't give this stars here, but I'm going to post again, just to give DeskConnect the stars it deserves.

Nice idea but badly implemented. Installed both apps on iPhone and Macbook. Signed up and began testing it out. Sending from Macbook goes fine. Trying to send anything from the phone simply does not work, not with photos, documents, links or clipboard...Simply nothing. Rebooted, reinstalled... but same story. Deleted this rubbish from my system. I'll stick with DropCopy. It simply works!

Check you system settings. Or maybe email the dev? I tried it and works fine for me at the moment. The address book "click to call" is a useful feature for me. But. . .YMMV.

It would be really nice if those who have problems with an app contact the developer/tech support first before giving a 1/2 star rating, in case it isn't the app's fault and maybe something is wrong with their system. I too have had no problems with this app.

I wish crybabies like yourself Harridtype would stop harping on about how good an app works for you and trying to blame a user when the app fails to deliver. Grow up! My mails to the dev went unanswered BTW. My system is fine. DropCopy and similar apps work. Rread my comment again, if you missed it the first time and grow a brain.

Akrobat, I'm the dev. I respond to every single email I get, but please accept my apology if I missed yours somehow. I'd love to help you get DeskConnect working if you're willing to give it another shot. If not, I worked really hard on DeskConnect, and it pains me to hear that you didn't have a good experience!
