Surprise, surprise, surprise. (Quick, who said that? No googling.) Orbis is now working for me. I've done a clean install of Mojave and clean installing most apps. I'll be dog-gone if Orbis is not working now. For what it does it is pretty good. Other apps do more (Forecast Bar is my main weather app.) but for a second app it is now my preferred.

Still FUBAR on El Capitan. Bought it again. Also just refunded. Again. A shame. It’d be worth more than $2. As it’s been on past OSs (now El Capitan) it crashes on opening. After a couple crashes, and deleting all related files, it worked once and was the epitome of Apple elegance, until I tried opening Preferences. How Apple continues to allow this app is beyond belief. I suppose since it's only $2 most folks just blow it off.

Like so many crashing upon start on Yosemite. I finally got around to installing it on Mavericks and it works well enough. But it is lacking one of the best features of MenuWeather! Best I can tell Orbis doesn't give hourly breakdowns of forecasts. It's a step back for crying out loud! But worse is the fact the developer has been totally silent while continuing to take folks' money.

Used to be great and stable (when it was MenuWeather) - Now as of 5.0 with the Orbis version it's buggy. Perhaps should still be in beta?

Interface is too dark and not very readable, IMO. Not a lot of options to change anything. Very glad WeatherDock still seems to work lately.

I was also very disappointed after update, but noticed that if you leave unchecked 'current location' -option, everything works very fine after that! I tried to set Orbis to get 'auto located' in Mac's privacy but this doesn't help. But after unchecked that early mentioned all is ok. That note what Orbis showed after every chrash meant that program couldn't find locations at all.

Could be really good but the fastest it can do weather updates is every 45 minutes. This makes it much less useful for me...fix that and it's nearly perfect.

I really like this menubar app and all the options it offers, have used it for some time. I don't have any of these complaints, and most have to do with your maitenance of your own machine. And fixes start with, Dump the preferences file. Who knows what else you are or are not doing. Never seen it hang. But I am tired of seeing small devs trashed here. Really tired of it. Get a life. Paid for it then used CleanApp to delete every associated file. Total rubbish. Constant beach ball - not for me and can not recommend it. Well, well. Just dumped this app and installed Seasonality Core. No more spinning beach ball, no more hangs and my computer is flying. Why the hell did I fall for this terrible, awful application. Don't go near this app. It is a CPU hog and a disaster constantly using bandwidth - searching, searching, searching....

Installed it yesterday on iMac 27" late 2009, newest OS. Compared several locations close to each other up here in Northern Norway. Difference in temperature almost 10 degrees C, local weather service survey only +/- 1 degree. Wanted to change location and the app ended up spinning in menue bar. Could not be terminated any more, had to delete and reboot... Not a Mac like experience. A pity, the first impression was not bad.

Solid weather program but it only updates weather data once every 45 minutes (or less often). This is ridiculous as weather changes much faster than that. Need to add update intervals to 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, and 60 minutes as a minimum. Good program other than that glaring omission.

I've been using Menuweather for awhile (replaced "Metologist" which was great but not updated). I mostly use it just to see the outside temperature and forecasts. But, right now I am sitting in my apartment in New York City waiting for the onset of one of the worst hurricanes in recent history, and Menuweather reports "light showers, overcast, cool, wind 19 mph". WTF?

MenuWeather is telling me it is 9 Deg C outside - the Australian Bureau of Meteorology AND Weatherzone are both teling me it is 4 Deg C outside. You guys are more than 100% out in your readings of current conditions. Your forecasts are totally unreliable and you can't even get the current conditions right. You have got to change your source of information - it is just made up. These are not readings from any reliable weather monitoring service. Others can get these readings right, why can't MenuWeather?

This program is a memory hog, using 80 MB of RAM and that when not even looking at maps. This is crazy. I'm not saying it is poorly written because that would require information that i don't have. And of course the trend in all consumer software is to use gobs of RAM. But that doesn't change the fact that this is a memory hog. Otherwise, the program is very nicely laid out, easy to use, and puts up more information than some others. That said, I've switched my "always on" weather program to WeatherSimple which gives me just the information I normally need (current conditions, abbreviated four-day forecast, and two other cities, and uses 1/4 the RAM.

Excellent replacement for the lamentably unviable Weather Dock. Accurate and good range of display options. Also has clean UI and nice icon sets (important when they're going to be visible on your menubar for most of your mac's life). I don't use the More Weather window as I don't need that much detail, but I don't think its as well thought through as the menubar item. Stability has come along way since shaky previous versions, which often stalled and crashed. But it still hangs briefly when leaving preferences after changing, and should really deal with loss of internet connection better. Currently when it can't connect, hovering the mouse over it leads to the spinning wheel of death, which is unnecessarily alarming. Overall though, my favourite menubar app, and hopefully destined to get better.

This is an improvement over the previous version. Added air pressure, radar map zoom in and out, better location search and hourly updates. I find this app very useful and prefer it over WeatherDock simply because its handier being able to access the weather immediately from the menubar. I have the free version 3.12 and don't live in the States, so there's no need for me to upgrade but I'd be quite happy to pay $2.99 if that's what I was charged and the software was as stable as the version I'm currently using.

I have given up on this app as well. While the 2.99 is not a problem. having a functioning app is. MeunWeather simply does not work on my MBP. The lite version does. I will remove both, Apple can keep the 2.99 but from now on I will try to find non-App Store versions of apps. Not having a try before you buy option sucks. Thus the following ratings. This applies to the MeunWeather app, not the lite version.

Compared to other menubar weather applications this is the cleanest and most modern-looking. It has a nice icon set and is reliable. However, it has a couple of annoying problems: - OSX automatic location detection doesn't work for a lot of people. So it'd be good to have a quick way of switching location from the menu. At the moment you have to go to options/preferences and set a new default. You can't simply choose from the other locations. - As a review on appstorm noted, it's a bit of a waste of space (and confusing) to display 'current conditions' then conditions for the same day underneath. - Would be good to have a preference to specify which conditions you want to see, e.g. I can't imagine everyone would want pressure and visibility cluttering up the menu. Otherwise, a promising app. Hope development continues

the app crashed a lot (about four times) during my initial setup (while i was adjusting the prefs). i'd like to be able to change the font displayed in the menu bar; MenuWeather's font seems less bold than the clock's, and i'd like to be able to thicken it up without making it bigger. these things aside, i like it so far. i'm wondering what MW's source is, as WeatherDock and some other apps that draw their weather from weather.com broke today while MW hasn't.

This is great - finally replaced the venerable WeatherDock for me. However, it would be even better if its preferences would allow the user to set the level of detail displayed in 'Current Conditions'. e.g. I don't need to see wind, pressure or visibility readings. Would make it much easier to read at a glance.

I have been running MenuWeather version 2.3 without apparent problem. Seemed to work as advertised. Today I received an "update available" window/notice on my screen and went ahead and clicked the update and restart button. Not a good outcome. The Spinning Beach-ball of death appeared ... forever. My system slowed to a crawl and I could not get the Menu Weather to quit. I tried restarting, moving it to the trash (which it would not let me do because the program was in use). I tried repairing permissions and resetting crons . . . all the regular attempts to get it to quit. When putting my cursor over the MenuWeather icon the spinning beachball would not let me open it to try to change preferences or quit it. Finally I went into the applications folder, highlighted the MenuWeather icon and opened the "Show Package" option. I one by one started to trash the folders and items in the Package that it would allow me. I emptied the trash and restarted my MacBook Pro. I could now finally go to the program to open the preferences and I was able to uncheck the "Open at startup" option. After another restart I was now able to trash the program. My computer is now back to normal. I have not re-downloaded the update again for trial as I do not want to go through this again. I will now wait to watch the reviews and see if this is unique to my computer or if it is happening to others. Doc G

I downloaded this software looking for an alternative to WeatherDock which seems like it doesn't get updated much anymore. That has been my weather resource since I got my first Mac a few years ago. I've been watching the development on this one from my RSS feed for some time looking for an alternative to WeatherDock that is actively developed. One thing I really like about this software is that it doesn't put an icon in the dock. With WeatherDock it give you the ability to turn the dock icon off but then you can't have the menu bar item. Also the software has the option to auto-detect your location and give you up-to-date weather for where you are. With WeatherDock I always have to find a ZIP code of the nearest city or something and update it myself. Anyhow, I like the customization this software provides. I like that you can change where things appear in the menu and change the type of icons that the weather appears as. I had contacted the developer with my thoughts and suggestions about offering a day and night based forecast like WeatherDock does, and he replied to me a few hours later and explained that MenuWeather uses the Yahoo API and not Weather.com. It would be a nice feature because while I can look at WeatherDock and see without loading a website how the weather will change as the day goes on. This one just gives kinda an average forecast of the day instead. I was happy to receive such a quick and helpful response regarding my suggestion. While it's missing one key feature I would really like to see, I think the benefits of this wonderful piece of software outweigh my one nitpick thing about it. This software will work well enough though for the average person and I'll adopt now and enjoy seeing how this software evolves.

This is a nice, tidy menubar weather app, but not the best by a long shot. I think that has to go to Weather Dock (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16027/weatherdock) which is much more customisable and has a richer feature set, though its interface is more cluttered and ugly. Things that would bring MenuWeather up to speed: - sorting out the annoying freeze that occurs when clicking on anything (is this to do with using apple's locationd?) - make (or at least provide the option) to make the weather symbols in the menu larger - they're far too small - allow manual locations to be saved/favourited and quickly switched between (e.g. so user can quickly check several locations - i find this useful as i travel regularly between a number of cities) - global keyboard shortcut to update the weather - preference to set number of forecasted days shown If all this was added I'd be more than happy to donate £5!

Although I'm a devoted fan of Meteorologist, I decided to give this one a look. I must say, it looks like a good start now that a minimal forecast has been added. I'll be very interested to see how this one develops. Although everyone will have their own set of "must-have" features, two major items for me are longer forecasts and weather radar. One very minor nit is the icons are alright for now, but they're not *quite* up to the polish of other programs like Meteo and WeatherPop. Best of luck, and a good start!

Gives nothing but the temperature. Silly. "Meteorologist" gives you complete weather & forecast for any number of cities.

Would be nicer if it gave the forecast rather then just the temperature. Other then this, it works perfectly.
