Very nice but limited mEncoder gui. If the devs can improve the options and GUI layout it would certainly be a very good ffmpeg alternative.

LAFEAR, thanks for clearing that up for me. I love both PEnGUIn Encoders and have used them for a long time, and they just keep getting better.

Because the differences between the PEnGUIn Encoder M4V and the PEnGUIn Encoder MP4 are so small, I wonder if both the users and you would benefit by only having ONE PEnGUIn Encoder that can create either kind of filetype? You could probably explain those small differences between them with just one sentence, and perhaps another sentence could describe how to decide which one to use, and both could be right up front with checkboxes for users to choose whether to use the .mp4 or .m4v file extension for their newly converted video.

It's just an idea. Anyway, thanks again for all your hard work, and for offering them to us for free!

Thanks, PORKPIEHAT!
I'm sorry that the English is not my native language. That's sometimes I don't know how to express precisely. However, I'm planning to re-writte the whole program as what you said, just found it takes time and a little difficult. Wish later this year or next year I can complete it. Thanks your feedback and advices ^^

I'm confused: What is the difference between PEnGUIn Encoder M4V and PEnGUIn Encoder MP4? Aren't MP4 files and M4V files the same, except that iTunes requires that MPEG-4 movies use the .m4v extension, so all you have to do to is change the extension from .mp4 to .m4v? Other than the small difference in the extensions, are those 2 apps EXACTLY the same?

Also, what is PEnGUIn Encoder PMP 1.0.2?

Just a quick note on your username. When I was in High school back in the early 50s, I worked 3 hours a day in a mens clothing store. In the dark recess of the stock room I found an old (never used) pork pie hat. I loved it and plopped it on my head for at least two years, it was sort of my trademark. I doubt if there are that many young people who have any idea of what type of chapeau that might be.

Thanks Jack, I'm Jack too.

Hi, PORKPIEHAT~
PMP is aimed for a specific Portable Playstation Player (I think fewer people use this kind of format now).
And MP4/M4V, mostly both of them are the same. Except the part of subtitles. Because the difference of muxing and patching. M4V is support with software subtitles. It means users can switch on/off subtitle in Quicktime Movie Player, iTunes, iPod, iPhone and iPad ^^
Thanks!!

I was looking for a free solution to convert wmv to m4v for a friend who works for a television station so she could work on her mac at home. This little GUI provided the perfect solution for her. I am so pleased with how well this little app works I will keep it on my machine.

Hi~ there~
There is no need to install mencoder. Is there any message came from the software? Which kind of video format you put into the source table (right side)?
