MyThoughts1.4.0

23 March 2014

Create organized, intuitive mind maps.

Overview

MyThoughts introduces a new level of freedom in the use of Mind Mapping Software, allowing you to create Unique, Meaningful, Brain Friendly Mind Maps. With over 3000 images to illustrate your Mind Maps, MyThoughts for Mac also has iPhoto seamlessly integrated into the Media Browser giving direct drag and drop access to your photographs. Plus, the ability to drag and drop images directly from Finder and the Web to your Mind Map Central Thought and Branches.

MyThoughts for Mac makes it easy to add Links to Files, and Pages on the Web, it's just a matter of drag and drop. This is a great feature when your Mind Map is an overview of a much more complex subject that has supporting documents and data. Or maybe you want to link to a Quicktime video that relates to your Thought.

Add Notes to your Mind Map Branches using the Notes Editor, format them to suit your needs, the options are plentiful. And, when you wish to add a cross reference, one click on a check box and Outline Numbering is applied. Many more features.

What's new in MyThoughts

I first downloaded MyThoughts when it was in it's beta phase, and I loved it. I went ahead and bought it whilst it was still at beta. Now the update is out I feel like I hit jackpot with my decision. I am really enjoying the fact that it is so easy to use. I also like that I can get arty with the branches and make them curve around images etc. The fact that you can drag images of your own to the mind map (I love having my own chosen images as my centre thought) makes for a more creative approach. My main use is for my university course work and I am looking forward to getting more from it in this, my final year. The big plus has got to be the price, it is a really great bit of mind mapping software! Oh, in an earlier post the person said about being able to drag map around in window. You can move it about, it's a check box in the inspector box, then click and drag map.

Any one know if this is still being developed? No updates since 2012 on the website.

My thoughts about this program after having just installed it: • It drops 144 MB on your hard drive using the package installer method (not drag-and-drop). All but 18 MB is dumped into /Users/Shared. • How am I going to get all of this wonderfulness to fit on the screen of my laptop?

Absolutely love this tool. Easy to use, always works beautifully, does exactly what I want it to. Could not ask for more. Completely blown away by the customer service as well. This company goes above and beyond to help their customers - VERY impressed!

Considering the pricing of My Thoughts alone the app is too expensive. As of this post there have only been 3,217 downloads. Compare that to the sheer number of downloads of some of the lesser priced and seriously competitive products where the downloads are approaching 30,000!

I used mindmanager since years and downloaded mythoughts and was immediately impressed by the design - the features are great - so I immediately bought it and then ... with the first "small map" i realised mythoughts is terribly slow - when i type a text it lasts seconds to see it appear ... now i hope this is a bug, I cant beliefe this is it - this makes the software unuseable for me and I have a new mac book pro so I am looking forward to hear other users opinions and hints. and maybe for a speedy update!

I have to admit that I wasn't much of a mind mapper before I bought this software. I have worked with several people who were dedicated mind mappers but I couldn't quite get into it. Nevertheless, when I came across MyThoughts, I thought I would give it a try since it seemed to have very good features at a very reasonable price. I have to say that this has been one of the best Mac apps I have bought. It's very easy to use, has a good set of features and has been very stable. I quickly found it to be an ideal tool for organising my thoughts and, after starting small, progressed to building some quite complex mind maps. I'm now a total convert and I would be lost without it. I've found it invaluable in mapping out ideas in both my business and home life. Thanks for a great piece of software, I am eagerly anticipating the iPad version. Keep up the great work.

I have just done my first mind map with the the new update. So, thought I'd update my review here. Nice one guys, some nice additions. I was hoping for the ability to change the branch thickness, will this be something for later? The new floating text box is useful, but my favorite new thing is the different branch options. I am looking forward to seeing what else you come up with. Feature request: Branch thickness control

This has got to be top dog of the Mind Mapping applications, many many features allowing your mind maps to be as rich as you want, but it flows as all good Mac applications should.

I have used a few other mindmap apps in the past and didn't expect this one to be much different. Hell, was I wrong there... I like my mindmaps to look like "mindmaps", not just lists off a central box. MyThoughts is great for this. I think the visual appeal of what I can produce with this software is perfect. I'd say, if you are really into "mindmapping" then this is a must-have app.

I have found MyThoughts incredibly intuitive to use, and the maps I have created have received many positive comments from my professional colleagues. I would highly recommend this mind mapping software.

I've been using MyThoughts for a while now, and the latest version has added to the pleasure of use, I am making good use of collapsible branches. There was one thing, I'd like to be able to add text that is not joined to any thought, I emailed the developer and he has promised he'll have something in the next release that should suit my needs. I am so chuffed that I got a quick and very positive response, thank you.

I'd like to second the glowing reviews of MyThoughts. I've tried many of the Mac mindmapping programs and, while many of them have unique strengths, they also have weaknesses (often reflecting the fact that they've been ported from elsewhere). MyThoughts is a Mac program through and through. It combines typical Mac ease of use with a surprising amount of power. While it may not (yet) offer all the bells and whistles it lets you create beautiful mindmaps very quickly. I just love using this program! The included graphics for your mindmaps are to a very high standard and are really the icing on the cake. You really should take a look at MyThoughts if you are interested in mindmapping.

WOW! You've GOT TO TRY this! Usually, when I demo a new piece of software, I immediately have a laundry list of things I wish the dev would fix or change. MyThoughts is amazing as-is. It makes Mind Mapping understandable and accessible to anyone. I would LOVE to see a more fully-featured outline mode (like Inspiration has, so you can flip back and forth really easily and export to either a graphic pdf or a text-only Word doc). And I'd love to have positioning and opacity control of the background image, so you can screen it way back and resize it. Other than that, I'm simply blown away. So intelligently designed, so user-friendly, so beautifully Mac-Like. Devs, please keep up the great work! Like Mary Poppins, you're practically perfect in every way. I can't WAIT to see what you do with this program in 2010.

This is first class mind mapping software. Firstly, the user friendliness is second to none, everything you can do in it is easy and intuitive. The flexibilty of the lines you can draw are also far better than other packages I have used which means I can produce very personal and creative maps. I think the best thing for me about this software is the ability to add any of my own images which really helps to get a meaningful mind map. I am suprised that there is so much functionality for the price!

This looks like a very good start. I currently use iMindMap (a java app) but would prefer something Mac native so that I can have QuickLook previews, native open/save dialogs so I can use Default Folder, etc. This looks like it could be an iMindMap killer for me in the future. But I think it needs more features. Like: The ability to place floating text/graphics that aren't tied to a branch, the ability to draw a branch free hand, the ability to control the thickness of branches, the addition of clouds, the ability for file links to be smarter (not absolute paths), the ability to hold down space to drag the map around inside the window, etc. And it did crash on me once during quick testing. And the QuickLook preview dimensions seemed scrunched up... But again, I think it's a great start. Very good functionality without being overly complex like Novamind. I'm really looking forward to 1.5 or 2.0. But I'll stick with iMindMap for the immediate future. Oh, and GREAT art collection too. Much nicer than iMindMap's or Novamind's.
