Great app, and nice integration among OSX and iOS devices via iCloud. And, unlike some other reviewers, I happily bought my license via the App Store. My prior mind mapper experience is with NovaMind Pro and MindJet's MindManager.

Will I be able to install it to multiple computers (3) that I use my app store account for (1 iMac, 2 Macbooks) or will each need an individual registration number?

I'm a teacher and would like to use this program for pre-writing exercises

Hi! Though I can't answer your question, you can consider using MindNode Lite which can suit many basic needs and is free. ;-)
If you need a more powerful tool, try Xmind which basic version is also free but nearer to something like Mind Manager.

Developer, please reconsider only working with the AppStore. I hate it, as many, many users do.

Otherwise please explain here why it is too much trouble to make it available through your site or MU.

This app does what it says it will do.
Without clutter. Which means your tool bar is empty.

I had high hopes for this.

It shows promise, but will it deliver?
There are free apps that do more than this Pro version.

I can't complain about the free version. I am more unsettled about the "Pro" version. A "Pro" app should be more feature rich to use that in its name & to cost more than a few dollars. The app been around for a few years now & the development seems to be slow.

I can't seem to reply to the developer directly who graciously replied to my comments.

I appreciate that the mapping is simple & direct in MindNode.

Going to more expensive apps that have an abundance of features does not however, change your product. That is being honest, not a slam! MindNode performs the basic function quite well & that's what people actually use, irrespective of what they think they do. So it comes down to managing user expectations. I can USE MindNode!

I am not seeking the level of complexity that the competition has necessarily, or its pricetag, but I have to compare the feature set against that price. SOMETIMES I want that complexity, most often, realistically I do not.

This user would not touch The Brain, or other similar apps, if they were not free for single, non-professional use. Because the cost/benefit ratio is not there for my use.

I think your Lite version is excellent & was hoping for still a few more features in the Pro version than you now have, without being top-heavy.

I still liked MindNode well enough to buy the Pro version at its current price & support your development! I do think that grid inclusion, & just a few more features would be nice.

I like your inclusion of OPML because it works well with other applications that I own: OmniOutliner & CircusPonies Notebook. If one has all 3, its a nice suite.

Just opening MindNode & using it -- feels more intuitive than FreeMind. That's what drew me.

I bought it because it seems to be something that works. If I need to complicate it, I can take it to other applications after working in MindNode, but I don't want TOO much elaboration getting in the way of brainstorming - so I by & large agree with you!

Huh? Only in the App Store? I bought this thing quite some time ago, wanted to update and am now pointed to Apple.

I do not want to get things there. Developer, can you please take care of an alternative route?

Markus, please tell me you are not going to leave your longtime users behind. I hate it when developers demonstrate they are not to be trusted to take care of their users.

SImple but useful. This application have several limitations, compared with others, but...it is fast to use. On the other side, mindnode is extremely importaent to catch the flow of thoughts and I guess this is maybe its most imoprtant facet. You can quickly and easily have a clear and clean map of your thoughts. the cost is extremely reasonable.

This is a good Mind Mapping application, with lot's of potential. But the functionality and control over the output (layout) is quite basic at this stage, even in the Pro version. I am a long time Mind Manager user, which has much more functionality, albeit poorly implemented in my view. MindNode Pro has the potential to be more useful than Mind Manager. And it need not replicate all of Mind Manager's capabilities to be so. But it needs to become more than what it is presently ... I am hopeful.

For example, the ability to add a note to each node would be most helpful. The text note might be shown or hidden. The ability to add a text node is the most important issue for me just now. Also, not having an outline view is another important omission to date.

It would be novel to be able to tag each node, as a data element, then show or hide nodes that have or do not have certain tags. This would be helpful for very large mind maps, also with the ability to search on tags. Tags may also enable a multi-dimensional view of the mapped data - must give some thought as to how exactly.

These are some good points you've made. However, I am not sure if I'd like MindNodePro to be that advanced. I mean, the very best thing with this app is that it's quick and easy; if we'd have tags and notes, that could slow down things… even at present state, pinch to zoom can get a bit slow if you have a huge mind map.

For me it's enough just to add another node if I want to note something to a node. Sometimes I copy lengthy text into a node box ("filled shape") and to hide it I use the "folding" command. The actual outlining I do usually in another app (Scrivener in my case). For that I export the map as RTF. Yeah I know, that's not elegant, but for me that's ok so far.

That's however having never used MindManager or other advanced mind mapping tools for a longer time. There are quite a lot of good ones around for the Mac platform; Curio has great features, and OmniGraffle gives beautiful output. (however, I don't use those apps)

For me, there's only one feature I'd really love to see in MindNode: double clicking somewhere on the canvas should add a new MainNode.

However, your idea with the tags and multi-dimensional view is cool, if I have understood it the right way.

This is a very easy to use app for creating and taking notes with mind maps. I would have given it five stars if it had a Keynote/PowerPoint export option.

Very elegant and easy to use indeed, but I miss a few features:
    - quicklook on text documents
    - integrated notes attached to each node and displaying as quicklook or popup or dedicated window
