GPS tracks manager; Google maps photo linker.

Overview

myTracks is the Swiss-Army knife for organizing your GPS tracks. They can be loaded from a broad range of devices and organized in a library comfortably.

Once imported you can drag-and-drop photo files to myTracks and they will be assigned to the GPS tracks automatically (Geotagging). If you organize your photos in iPhoto, Aperture or Lightroom myTracks automatically updates the location information. myTracks can handle both JPEG and RAW file formats.

myTracks comes with a free iPhone app which lets you use your iPhone as a GPS logger and easily synchronize these tracks with the desktop edition of myTracks.

This application is great! I previously used an application called Topofusion to more-or-less do the same thing. I really really like Topofusion: but it is a PC only program. I could certainly boot into Parallels and run topofusion no problem, but it turned out that this was the only program I was still reaching for an equivalent in the PC / Mac world. In other words: I no longer need to use Parallels. This actually saves a lot of time because having to boot two programs is rather time consuming, and a drag on RAM. This app is also a great value. Topofusion is $60, and indeed, it has more features than this program...but the ones I use the most are on myTracks - so that is really important. At $14, this app can't be beat. I'm very pleased. Thanks.

All I wanted to do was drag on some photos and see them on a map, and every step in this process is difficult. You can't zoom in close enough to view an actual track.

Is the Mac App store really so slow? Between the update announcement here and the actual appearance of the update in the store for this app there is always minimum 3 weeks of time. Pretty annoying.

I'm well aware of that, but that doesn't take a month or more, really.

Please note that the latest versions of myTracks require at least Mac OS 10.6.

great program, clearly worthy a 5 stars rating! It is the only Mac program that can read tracks from my GPS logger - so no more need for a virtual machine running Windows to import my data. Stable and easy to use, too.

With myTracks it is really easy to handle all the GPS-tracks that have been collected over time. After importing the tracks and organizing your photos it is comfortable that the scrolling and zooming within the map is fast and smooth. With the last update, also smooth zooming with my Mighty Mouse is supported which makes live much easier :) I like also that so many different gps-tracker are supported out of the box. When there exist a problem the support is fast and helpful. 5 Stars ... absolutely! DrQasi

I found this tool for the first time today and immediately tried it with my Gisteq GPS logger. It worked great! This is the first software I have found on the Mac that actually interfaces with the Gisteq GPS so I can download data tracks. Even Gisteq doesn't provide that. The software took me about 3 minutes to be reading tracks off the logger. If you have a Gisteq device and use Macs. I highly recommend this!

I actually like this software. Only one thing you should know: I was used to droppping photos onto a similar tool, then adding the gpx tracks, and done. But in myTracks, as the focus is on organizing the gpx tracks, you first need to add the tracks, and only then drop photos into it. That was a tad confusing at first... And remember to ask myTracks to write the geotags back into the files!
