Does it support the Xerox DocuMate 152? Having a terrible time with VueScan on it.

That's a bad marketing strategy. Give us a outdated buggy demo to try out or make us pay Mac App Store to find out our hardware is not totally supported. And when we demand a refund Apple stalls until we die from old age.

Seems okay, but it doesn't support my Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M so, there's no point in buying it.

I don't see how. It doesn't recognize my at all and it isn't listed as a compatible or supported scanner choice.

When I connected the ScanSnap to the Mac, the app recognized a TWAIN device and asked if I want to install a bridge or something like that.

This application cannot handle mixed orientation pages as many documents are. Auto rotation failed 3 out of 4 pages in a single document. I was doing duplex documents on a Xerox Documate 152, which is listed as compatible. Xerox software does fine under Windows with Parallels.

The problem in the previous post occur when I set a resolution higher than 300 dpi.
I use the same scanner on PC with 600 dpi.

Tried the last version.
Now with Canon DR 4010c if I try to scan a page the program start to initialize the scanner but nothing happen.
I'm able to do a preview but if, after that, I try to scan the page an error message appear: "errore inatteso dello scanner" (I think is "unexpected scanner error" in english).
Now if I try to scan the page again the program start initializing the scanner but nothing happen.
I was able to get a scan only once. I tried about 20 times.

Obviously, this software seems to have problems with Canon scanners when working with 600 dpi scans. There are also similar troubles with the Canon DR-C125. I already contacted ExactCODEs support and hope they can fix the problem soon.

Be aware that the OCR language supported is not listed out in the description, the language supported is likely to mean the available localization of the menu etc.

This app is by far the best scanning app out there. I really like the very simple, easy to use interface. It also allows for a lot of improvements to the document without having to be an expert on scanners (Auto crop and de-skew). I also like that the app allows your scanner and printer to work as a copy machine. The OCR is also a great feature. Overall I think it is a great app.

I tried to use my Canon DR-4010c scanner with Exactscan with after installing Sane.
Exactscan recognize the scanner. When i set the program to use Duplex to get a front/back scan, the two pages are merged in one:
Front page on the top and back page on the bottom, with a large black band in the middle.
The program saves two times the same page,

Is something I should set to avoid this or is it a problem with Sane?

Thank you for your help

I purchased the license through MacUpdate, but the license code is being rejected when I try and register. I'm using the name and email address that MacUpdate has for me.

I recommend using the demo version to test with your scanner. I did that with my Epson Artisan 800 and it works well. Adobe Acrobat doesn't see my scanner!

ExactScan Pro offers high-speed document scanning for Mac.

ExactScan Pro is a popular, easy-to-use OS X scanning software that utilizes built-in drivers for over 200 document scanners, including devices from Avision, Kodak, Oki, Visioneer, and Xerox.

ExactScan's built-in scanner drivers cover the whole range, from Visioneer's portable RoadWarrior to dependable workgroup scanners from Xerox, Visioneer, Kodak, and Avision. ExactScan allows for easy scanning of business cards, bills, and receipts, and ExactScan Pro's built-in OCR can directly save them as searchable PDFs.

With built-in OCR, ExactScan Pro recognizes the text in images and transform scans to editable and searchable documents, faster and more accurate than before. Together with the OS X Spotlight indexing system ExactScan Pro allows you to quickly find and retrieve archived documents.

ExactScan Pro's barcode recognition brings even more professional AutoID features to the Mac. During the scan process it can automatically recognize common barcodes and embed their content into the document, or use it for the filing destination.

All versions of ExactScan include advanced image-processing algorithms. For example, the intelligent black-and-white thresholding and blank-page detection can help to decrease storage space required for the archive, while the auto-crop and de-skew can recognize the page and skew for a perfect image representation of the original page.

ExactScan Pro includes various other facilities to help organize the office workflow: it can scan directly to any attached printer, and comes with smart profile presets, such as: Scan 2 PDF, Scan 2 Print (Copy), Scan 2 Email - the user can start right away.

Thanks to the TWAIN compatibility, ExactScan supports even more scanners, thereby enabling more users to take advantage of the advanced ExactScan features on top of the basic vendor drivers.

The support of AppleScript allows professionals to create dedicated solutions for specific, even difficult workflows, and to scan directly into a database.

ExactScan comes with support for many languages (English, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Chinese (simplified) and Chinese (traditional).) and is compatible with OS X 10.8.

A full list of compatible scanners is available here.
