The new update system is a SCAM and each year you have the same problems. Client since 20+ years with them. When the update plan expires so does as well the serial number. When you like to re-enter it there are constant messages like fake serial number, I have to downgrade (despite having the right version, etc). All done just for one purpose - to renew the license. Really unethical and desperate.

very disappointing how this once great programme has become. No real break-through development since years but a unpleasant almost forced-to-be subscription service. Cannot recommend these folks

Success went to Stan's head! I was a user of this software from the very beginning and bought over years all different software. Unfortunately with the annual renewal plan the SCAM started. When the license is about to expire you are bombarded with notifications to update, no mention anywhere what your existing serial is still valid. The scam is that this valid serial gets constantly lost in the programme, hence you have to re-enter the serial number. And, no surprise, sometimes you are not able to but get notified that you are up for renewal. This game was played two years in a row. When complained to Stan Busk, explaining that this upgrade scenario is mega unethical, he was very unpleasant and kicked us out from the upgrade plan. Now we have regular free update notifications but when downloading the software it does not open. Super annoying and time-wasting. MaxProgs "forced" update plans are illegal in Europe (company registered in Spain). As we have worked since decades with this software we are quite inflexible in moving to another platform. Our recommendation - STAY OUT and look for ethical alternatives.

Just to get the program I purchased, I am bombarded with the supposed need to download another app just to get the Mailer, not good. After not even being able to log into said accessory app, I ended deleting it and just downloading Mailer from the browser. Now I can't even get my registration code...waiting for the 24 hour mark? I need to use the program without Mailers unregistered features, please just have the activation code available immediately after purchase. I don't doubt the power of the program, but just getting started has been a real hassle.

Thanks for the honest reviews - I was tempted, looking at some kind of program that can be independent of OSX Contacts/Address book as a stand alone marketing email system for client contacts. The deveoper seems to be a problem, and the program outdated. I'll keep looking elsewhere.

Not bad. Has one feature (or lack of a feature) I don't like, that is, every single time I want to send a batch of emails, and it's not spam, it's a newsletter, I have to choose the recipients list again. I only have one recipients list, I'd like it to default to just that list. Emailed the developer and he was dismissive. I'm also removing a few stars just because he is an as*hole, in his response to JJ on this forum. And it's too expensive for what it does. He'd sell a lot more of them and make a lot more money if he wasn't so greedy. But I doubt he's able to appreciate that. As*holes don't respond well to criticism.

I have used this software for many years and seems to work fine. This software is geared more towards web designers and web professionals due to its many technical features and functions. I feel that program offers very good value. From reading the recent comments earlier, I do wish that the company representative and the forum users would be more kind to each other as we gather here for the love of using a Mac. I wish everyone inner peace. Sincerely.

The MaxProg company, maker of MaxBulk Mailer, has demonstrated dubious business practices. Please read on and I believe you will agree. If you are interested in purchasing this software, you should be aware of this recent course of events. I recently discovered a critical flaw in the software and reached out to the only option for support, their self hosted forum. The company is not available by phone, and they do not respond to email. Below you will see two links to the conversation. The first link shows the support request as it appeared on the company's support forum before it was censored to remove evidence of a flaw in their software. The second link is to the posting on the forum as it appears now. original post: http://mbmpost.s3.amazonaws.com/MaxProg-post.pdf censored post as it appears today: http://www.maxprog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6090 I presented the problem in a technically informative and objective fashion. The response from the company was rude and offered no technical support. If you carefully read my support request, and the responses back from their support, you will see why I am so frustrated and angry with these people. If you are technically inclined, you will find it even more illuminating as to how insincere these people because my analysis is simple, and their response was defensive and deflected the facts. The company behind this product may abandon you after they take your money. They may censor your posts so the public is not exposed to the product's bugs, and bad publicity. You should not believe what you see on the forum, because it is likely to have manipulated. Finally, I have appealed to the company three times to reconsider helping me before I reached out to the public. They declined to help, or acknowledge. It's too bad, because I am willing to help them diagnose the issue.

This is the worst software ever!!! I tried to send a promo and it mailed to people 4 times. I sent out a couple times and cancelled as soon as it started. I am not a complet ludite- I promise. BUt there is something so counter intuitive about this product that you have no idea how many times it decides to send things out.

Good application but few steps behind DIRECT MAIL. To say that, MaxBulk Mailer got a lot of potential but overconfident developer would not give it to us ... due to his unfriendly attitude ... May be he feel, that all those $$$ we pay him over the years to stay in business are for nothing ... right ...

I am looking for a good (I'd even settle for decent) bulk mailing application for OSX that has the following features: * Rich Text emails * Can easily pull lists from Mac address book * Can easily insert variable data into body of email. * Insertion based on rules would be great. I've been trying to MaxBulk Mailer to work and the features look pretty spot on to my needs. The trouble is that I can't get it configured to work with my mail server. I contacted the developer and got a very fast response that said Unfortunately, Mailings does not yet support secure (SSL) mail server's such as Gmail. If you have access to another mail server please try that. I am sorry for the incompatibility and I am working on an update that supports SSL. "I do have another mass emailer called "Quaik" which does support SSL. It supports some of the features of Mailings. You can read more about it, and download it, here: http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities/Quaik.html (Be sure to read the release notes for important feature information that may not be in the documentation :)" Quaik looks too light on the feature set for me. Any suggestions on which email systems to use? I've tried with Yahoo and me.com accounts and can't get either one to work. If anyone has had success with those mail providers I would REALLY appreciate a tip on how to set MaxBulk to work properly. Alternatively, which other bulk mail applications do you suggest?

This is brilliant, just what I needed. I had to give it a 4 overall rating but only for one reason. I wish it had the facility to receive incoming messages and reports. ie if an email address bounces back with a failure report it could de-activate or flag up that address. At present you have to go through the emails you receive back and manually manage the failed ones etc. Other than that though this was a real life saver for me. I was looking for a cheap app to send out a couple of newsletters and this came up with everything I needed.

I just found a way around the aforementioned drag and drop issue: - Select the recipients you want to move, and copy them - Go to the destination list, and choose "Paste Special" from the Edit menu It's a little bit more complicated, but at least it works! Now, if they would only make it as fast and snappy as MailDrop...

I've used MaxBulk Mailer for several years now, and it's been a very reliable tool. The developers have continued to make a good tool better, and the latest is the best yet! They are always responsive to requests for help. For example, early on I had a mailing crash, and they explained how to use the mailing log to capture the unsent list. It was so simple I couldn't believe it! Now, with my mail list in Address Book, it takes no time at all to get a newsletter ready and sent out. With a switch to Verizon recently, all it took was one email to the developers and I received the exact settings needed to migrate my list. Highly recommended.

Anonymous, please stop posting those annoying messages about spam!!!! Goodness me... MaxBulk Mailer has been working fine for me, and continues to be improved on -- even though there are two areas that need fixing: - slow interface - drag and drop of multiple recipients has been only partially fixed -- only the first 3 fields get copied! Besides these issues, I am a fan of MaxBulk Mailer and will be purchasing it.

Probably the worst solution of its kind, because the last thing you can have is this tool crash during the mailing - and it does crash and has done so since version 2.x. That leaves you with a partially sent mailing list with no status on what went out and what didn't. Bought the 4.1.5 upgrade which instead of having new features had actually less Gone is the selection parameter available in version 3.x where receipients could be selected by starting letter, etc. Gone is the count of selected receipients. It crashes all the same though and does so on pretty much any configuration and OS. Worse than useless. Customer support: non-existing.

I'm a developer myself. I bought this software and have been using it for months to send out product announcements. It works great. It has a great feature set. I compared other products first, and they lacked the features I needed. The interface is not the best looking and it's a little clunky, but it works and it's easy to use. It gets the job done handily with no serious bugs. I would like to see more flexible email address importing.

This software saved my business! One of our retail clothing stores was suffering from the cost of print advertising. We began asking for customer email addresses. The first bulk mail was a smash hit. Until we found OS X's sendmail and Max BulkMailer program we struggled to find a solution to sending mass mailings under our tight budget. I thank max bulkmailer everyday for its simplicity and reliability. Thank you.

Great program... As our in-house double-opt-in email list grows, MaxBulk Mailer continues to be the most cost effective and easiest solution for reaching our customers regularly. Other list software we've used often comes up short in one critical area or another. MaxBulk shines throughout the process...we send the mail we want to send, to thepeople we want to send it to, from the account we want to send it from, and it happens quickly and efficiently. The only thing it's missing is a true logic engine that would let you set up multiple mailers to one list based on attributes assigned to each subscriber. But, considering the price, it's almost unfair to call that a shortcoming.

This is posted after using 3.1 at the downloading of 3.2 After using to MaxBulk Mailer since 1.something, this product continues to develop as the only method to send bulk emails. When sent through a localhost mail server (as comes with OSX or other parties) you quickly and flawlessly bypass all the ugly bells and broken whistles that ISP's are erecting in the name of spam prevention. Now if only other OSX upgrades worked this well.

By far the best bulk emailer I've tried and I've tried others - Maildrop, Entourage's "mailing list". Fast, very efficient, easy to use. Powerful too, I've installed the clickthrough cgi script that's included and am running PostFix on a dedicated server in our office. everything works as promised. And we don't use it for spam! My only wish is for templates a la Constant Contact but that may be out of the realm of this app.
