As reported by Ars Technica, be very wary of Adobe Flash (And Little Snitch) installers: some apparently legitimate installers are bundled with Windows executables that are enabled to run on MacOS and bypass Gatekeeper, infecting your Mac with malware. https://bit.ly/2GIb55E

The URL above to Adobe Systems isn't particularly useful. A better link would be this: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ -HI-

When every •browsable• page at *.adobe.com shows Flash 32.0.0.223 as the latest available, how is it possible that MacUpdate has a link to obtain version 32.0.0.228? Even going into System Preferences and using the Flash Player “updates” panel there doesn't find anything higher than 32.0.0.223. Very strange goings on here. Are you linking to unpublished betas? Why? -HI-

Same here. But knowing Adobe, two minutes after the stupid Flash Player preference pane said there was no update, it figured out there WAS an update and allowed me to download it. Have patience. Awful Flash is DEAD forever as of New Year's Day 2020. And, thankfully, this particular update is not, (so far), a security update. But knowing Adobe, they may not have yet gotten around to updating their Security Bulletins page. (0_o)

Interesting that Adobe is killing off Flash in Windows on April 09 2019 "https://www.engadget.com/2019/03/11/adobe-discontinues-shockwave-april-9th/" but made no mention of it killing off Flash on the Mac

Shockwave and Flash are related but different products. It is possible to have only Flash installed, and not Shockwave. It is Shockwave which is being discontinued April 9 on Windows; Shockwave for Mac was already discontinued in 2017. By discontinued, meaning it hasn't been updated, but of course it is still possible that people still have it installed on older systems.

Flash is being phased out with an End Of Live date sometime in 2020 on all platforms.

Since 2009, when malware infested versions of iWork and Adobe Photoshop WAREZ downloads appeared on the net, it has been dangerous to install 'cracked' versions of macOS software.

As for Adobe Flash, it's constantly being found to be riddled with security holes. Be glad the monstrosity dies at the end of 2019.

As of today (Jan. 8, 2019), visiting the Flash download page (https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) shows that the current version is v32.0.0.114, not v32.0.0.104 as shown here. Just FYI.

I was curious as to how may things still require flash these days? Everything I was keeping it around for seems to work without it now. Mind you I haven't dug really deep to find a need for it, I just am talking about general site usage seeming to work without flash being installed now.

Worse, it's used in the interfaces of many products including security (!) systems for spam and web site management, video teleconferencing systems (F you polycom!), a computer power management system (surveyor) and many more. Which makes you scream WHY!?!?!
