Also reporting on version 2024.2.0. On an iMac 17,1 (late 2015, 27") running Monterey 12.7.3, the application opens to a blank window with a black and white pattern black on top extending into the middle of the windows with the rest white. so black straight across and down with the rest being white on either sides. I can get the app to load in safe mode, but not in normal mode. Seems to be an issue with the AMD GPU most likely since safe mode disables Acceleration.

Just updated to version 2024.2.0 and now Bitwarden won't fully open. A blank window opens and spinning dots spin and spin and spin and spin. Help!

After trying many other BItwarden alternatives (Msecure, 1password, ...) I discovered this little perl... I am using it as free user, and it cover anything i need... the plugin work perfectly with Mozilla and Safari, on iphone and Android. The best password manager i have found.

I used to be a long-time 1Password user and loved it as a macOS application. Everything ran smoothly and seamlessly on my Mac. However, AgileBits decided to switch to the Electron Framework, which made things easier for developers to write code once and deploy it across multiple platforms. Unfortunately, it made the user experience less Mac-like. Despite the price staying the same. I decided to switch to Bitwarden, which is also built with the Electron Framework. The best part is that it's free (with the option to subscribe for some additional features). Although the editor can be a bit underwhelming, I am a happy Bitwarden user. It performs perfectly for all my day-to-day needs and is a great alternative to 1Password.

After 4.5+ years, we continue to use the free edition of Bitwarden daily on Mac & iOS. I trust the security, as much as is prudent in these days. I used 1Password until the (steep) subscription model priced me out. Yet, in the case of the free use of Bitwarden – I strongly feel that you get more than you pay for.

Works great and the new right click in a dialogue box to access the pass info is smooth I am on OSX Beta 11.3 v5 works in safari with no problems also Opera and Edge.

Bitwarden is currently not compatible with the latest version of Safari. Attempting to open a website from the extension either causes the extension to crash or log out. The developer is aware of this bug, but has been unable to resolve it for over 30 days. Until this has been resolved, I cannot recommend using this software. I was previously by go-to password manager.

This software is not currently working with the latest version of Safari. It has not worked for over a month. This is a bug known to the developer, but they say they are having trouble finding a solution. Before Safari was updated, the software worked flawlessly and was my go-to password manager. The current bug does not allow opening a website from the extension. If you do, the extension either crashes or it logs out. Until this bug has been resolved, I cannot recommend using Bitwarden.

This software doesn't allow you to create standalone vaults for offline editing, you have to agree to copy your password data to an unknown entity somewhere (the Bitwarden cloud). The described alternative to this is to host Bitwarden cloud on your own server. Despite being described as easy to set up your own cloud using 'docker' this software is not for people who have no desire to do anything but have a useable app from the get-go. It is unusable until this is addressed.

I've been a paying user of LastPass for many years. A series of UI glitches and long periods without updating the binary installers made me revisit my choice of password manager. The company that bought Lastpass out several years ago also has a terrible reputation, though personally that didn't impact me... Testing Bitwarden was a breeze. Import of all my data was effortless, and the better UI made me reorganise my passwords. The iOS version is just as feature rich as LastPass, and works more quickly. The sharing system (sharing with my partner), is more cleanly designed than the families interface of LastPass. The desktop app is not native (neither was Lastpass anymore), but most of my time is spent in the browser extension anyway, which is very cleanly designed, much nicer than LP. Only thing I miss is the hard-copy two-factor authentication method, but everything else more than makes up for it. Totally excellent and well worth paying for (though not necessary as most functions are free, paying is really to support such a great product, you do get a few extras).

"Don't want to use the Bitwarden cloud? You don't have to. With Docker you can easily host Bitwarden's entire infrastructure stack on the platform of your choice." This was a huge reason for me to dump 1Password.

The developer continually improve this free open-source solution to password management. The upgrade to the Premium version is extremely reasonable (currently, $10), unlike the “other 1passapple” product. Strongly recommended as an alternative.

This is my go-to app on my Mac, PC at work, and my iPhone. I love how it is integrated with the phone and how easily and it works on both laptops. It has been totally dependable, after I quit using One Pass. For all my uses, it is still free. Awesome software.
