I didn't like HDR photography. Before Aurora. I don't need any other app now. Strongly recommend!

I cannot comprehend why MacPhun had to create this entirely non-standard way of identifying their software. If they want to use the year it was first sold, then fine! Use the year in the version number! But to have a year in the name then number each year's version progression as 1.0, 1.0.1, 1.1 etc is ridiculous. I have Aurora HDR version 1.2.8. But darn, it's from 2016, before they even began putting year numbers into the app's name. Very silly and disrupting.

Impressive BUT, when I read : "Requirements : Intel, 64-bit processor OS X 10.10 or later", I expect a Core2Duo is OK… In fact this app doesn't work on my mid-2007 iMac (oh God, 10 years…). The answer from MacPhun support is : "It seems that your Mac was released before 2009 and it is using old hardware architecture, that is why this issue occurred. Unfortunately, Aurora HDR 2018 can work only on Macs from late 2009 or newer. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with." Thus it should work on a MacBook late 2010, with a slower processor than may iMac ? Think about it before buying this software.

This is actually an Apple hardware thing. It's not as simple as '64-bit'. With each new processor technology Apple added their own APIs while Intel added their own added hardware capabilities.

Here is Wikipedia's listing and description of Mac CPUs over the years:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Macintosh_models_grouped_by_CPU_type

What you'll notice is that there isn't one kind of 'Core 2 Duo' CPU. In 2008, the Core 2 Extreme added new features beyond the Core 2 Merom. That locked out some older 64-bit software. In 2009 the Core 2 Duo ''Peryn' added new 64-bit features, which locked out further older 64-bit software. And so on. The two boundaries are the 'Legacy CPUs' and the 'Leading Edge' CPUs. If software requires functionality outside of that middle zone of utility, it's SOL. It's certainly obsolescence, but without the progress of new features and technology, there's a whole other realm of user upset.

This is an outstanding piece of software - stable, with a refined interface that is a joy to use, and extremely powerful. This is a tool that is an absolute must-have for any professional photographer. My only complaint would be the price: those of us who are only hobbyists, might find the price a little out-of-budget - so decreasing the cost, or at least offering cross-over pricing, might be a great way to increase the user-base.

MINDBLOWING!!!! These developers deserve every design award possible. As an avid user and subscriber to Adobe's Lightroom and Photoshop CC, I'm blown away by the power and usability of Aurora. I purchased the first version and the second version because these folks truly love what they do and the program updates and support are outstanding. The power and ease of Aurora make me smile every time I work on a photo.

Hi Just-Fred, the version 1.2.7 is for the previous iteration of Aurora HDR (Pro): https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/55744/aurora-hdr-pro

There is a note at the top of the Pro app description: "Aurora HDR Pro is no longer for sale, as its functionality has been incorporated into Aurora HDR 2017."

As a newcomer to HDR photography and processing, I've dabbled with a few different programs. Not only is the interface for AuroraHDR modern and sleek (think Lightroom), but there are excellent tutorials and examples on the MacPhun website. This has made all the difference for me. Great app with good support from the authors.

Just bought this, then realized did not include plugins. Now can't update to Pro version through MacUpdate. Buy it from App Store instead-then can still update (unless there is way to do this through MacUpdate - please tell me!)
