Responsive website designer.

Overview

RocketCake is a Web editor for creating responsive Web sites without programming, It is free, but there is also a professional edition for sophisticated users. It has built-in support for all important HTML elements: image galleries, slideshows, resizable containers, stylish buttons, gradients, HTML5 video, audio, and more. It comes with a breakpoint editor, and a handful useful templates.

What's new in RocketCake

Version 3.4.0:
  • Styled buttons now also support images and other elements on them. Note: this only works for newly created styled buttons. If you have old buttons from a previous RocketCake version in your project you need to replace them for this feature
  • Rescaled images on your website in the editor now look exactly as in most browsers. Previously, they could look a bit more blurry under special circumstances
  • Content in H1, H2, H3, etc tags now is generated very SEO friendly by aggressively stripping redundant styles and nested tags automatically inside. However you style your headings, you will now in most cases end up with code looking like this: Heading Text
  • Fixed a problem causing images not to be reloaded instantly sometimes when the menu command for this was selected
  • Fixed a problem which caused the MacOS version of RocketCake not to load files properly sometimes when special unicode symbols where used in the HTML code
  • Fixed a problem on macOS causing elements not to be pasteable sometimes on certain elements

Extremely buggy, non-native interface: buttons appear without label, clicking the green 'full-screen' window button makes the entire app go blank, and many other quirks. The fact that the app allows for embedding of 'Flash' content in a modern website is also not encouraging. Needs much more work before it can be useful.

This app allows you to create websites very quickly. It's a no-brainer. But seriously, you really need to make the UI retina. Good for quick jobs, but I can't see it as a professional web design tool.

Luckily a lot of the other apps in the MacUpdate 2016 Spring Bundle are valuable, I wasted time testing this app. It looks like some crappy Windows app. It does not use the Mac's advanced text services, like drag&drop. Text selection does not work right. Making a gallery or slideshow should be easy by dropping a bunch of image files on the container box! This kind of though was done 10 years ago in the Mac! Referring to the Command key as the "Apple key" is just shear lack of Mac app design. Pretty poor implementation of a Mac app. I hope it gets better.
