I'm still a very happy user! :-) I've started using Sync more extensively since the beginning of this year for sharing sound, scores and documents with my band's mate and it's a benediction! As she has a very busy schedule, we have to communicate a lot through sending material to each other while elaborating our songs and arrangements: tools like Sync are indispensable, nowadays. As many, I came to Sync from Dropbox when the NSA affair began to be a concern... ;-) The support is fantastic! Long live Sync! :-)

Good secure service but transfer speed is very slow compared to competitors. Dropbox remains for me the best, it is super reliable (it has never lost any of my files), responsive and super fast. The ideal would be the security of Sync and the rest of Dropbox.

Another longtime Dropbox user here, like from the very first month or so - have 27 GB free. But I was very much against their 3 device limit on free accounts. Plus I am but a simple personal user who shares a few files a few times a year, if at that. Dropox was just a behemoth that was not needed. I love Sync's functionality and have had zero issues. I especially appreciate the Vault feature, something lacking from Dropbox.

I used Dropbox for more than a decade, but some months ago I switched to Sync and am extremely happy! No problems. I think it is better than Dropbox, and it gives me so much more free space.

A query rather than a comment - can I access my Sync account and files with CloudMounter or WebDrive?

I'm still relying on Sync and nearly never ran Dropbox since I use Sync. Not for syncing between Macs, but when it comes to sharing documents of all kinds with pc users, I can't find anything bad, it works perfectly and i don't have to worry about privacy matters or else.

I really wanted to like Sync and was hoping to switch from Dropbox, but then I discovered that Sync does not sync Finder tags and other metadata and extended attributes.

I really like this app. I only review my favorite apps, and I use this one every second, basically, since my class papers are uploaded and updated all the time. They have a good way to get rewards - I'm up to 15GBS and only using 1/2 of that. I like it so much, I miiiiiggght upgrade to the $48/ year 500GB or $96/year 2TB. If I needed that much. They recently did a major update on their desktop and mobile apps - another great feature I look for in apps - cross platform. I looked into it since I work overseas and our company uses dropbox for sensitive information. I found sync whose major saleing point was encryption. Good customer service, too. They replied to my silly little email. It looks like a good company in general. 5stars

Interesting at first. I really would like DropBox to be secure... but 'Requirements: OS X 10.5.2 or greater' is a show stopper. Dropbox hums along fine on 10.6.8 (making all those old Mini useful).

After one year using Sync, I'm a happy user: nothing to complain about, their support has been very reactive and fixed all the issues I've found in the first releases. :-)
You can easily share a folder with a distant person, wether he's a Sync user or not. If he is, he's got the same folder on his machine, even if both of us are on the free plan!
Wonderful!

The preview of the document does not work on my iPad and with Safari.... and login is sometimes problematic with the iPad's browser.

MU> v 1.1.7 is out ! ;-) From the bug fixes list, "No more filename character exclusions on OS X. Sync now supports all legal OS X file name characters" Finally! Needs to be verified but it was a real show-stopper for me. Now it can be a real competitor to Dropbox.

The similarities with DropBox are strong, except that it's on Canadian ground, 'zero knowledge encrypted' and cheaper for the first 500 Gig. Speed is good, UI as well, helpdesk is very good, helpfiles etc. also great. Have a look here: https://www.sync.com/help. You'll start out with 5 Gig free instead of 2. And if you use this link, you'll get an extra Gig! (as do I): http://www.sync.com/get-started?_sync_refer=9f40240

So how can we confirm that our data is actually being encrypted before being sent via Sync? The nice thing about Dropbox + Boxcryptor is that you can access your data directly on Dropbox without Boxcryptor to verify that it is indeed encrypted. Is there a way to access our raw data on Sync servers to see what the encrypted data looks like?

I've just started my trial of version 1.1.1, in replacement of SpiderOak — that stopped supporting "old" OSes — and it looks very promising: the interface is very simple, you find easily the monitoring tab for what's going on; it's not far from Dopebox (except for finder integration, but it's not a big deal, compared to the "zero NSA" aspect of Sync. ;-) ). It surely can't do all of what its competitors do, but I think it's enough for a simple sync between computers and occasional sharing with other people. Long live Sync! :-)

I've been using this service since Dropbox chose Condaleeza Rice for it's board. The service has been reliable and the sync times are as fast as Dropbox. The major flaw is lack of Finder integration: you can't right click on a file to share it, you have to use the web interface to make shared links. I would rate 4 stars, but I'll give them back a star for customer service because I got a snail mail hand-written thank you card for being an early subscriber (and for not having war-mongers on their board).

May be a fine app, but two bogus reviews right out of the gate is a turnoff for sure, eh?
