Build and monitor diagrams of processes.

Overview

inShort allows you to build diagrams of processes and monitor their execution. As a rule, tasks do not exist on their own; they are usually interrelated, and the best way to show this is to build a diagram of processes.

Almost every task in the program can be drilled down to a separate diagram, until the project is broken down into elementary operations. Having constructed a detailed scheme, you can simulate the future execution of the project, what will become the basis for the planned schedule, which can be compared with the current execution of tasks without leaving the program. You can also place some tasks in the Calendar and set reminders on them.

More formally, the program allows you to build a customized, based on the BPMN notation, PERT diagram of the project (with events and processes at nodes). Then this description of the project is used to generate a Gantt chart and track the progress of the project.

Note: This application contains in-app and/or external module purchases.

Excellent app, with amazingly insightful features that make it useful for project managers, system analysts and business strategists alike. The app is stable, the interface is pleasant and sufficiently fine-tuned to be pleasant to use. Unfortunately, the documentation is HORRIBLE - by far, the worst written guide I've ever come across. The author's first language is clearly not English, and the language used is absurdly verbose and idiomatic, to the point where in several places you are left wondering whether you really understood, even after several readings. This alone makes learning to use the program an unnecessary chore, and significantly (and needlessly) steepens the learning cure - by a lot. In fact, the learning experience is quite frustrating, with users sometimes reporting that there are features they still never knew existed, because they could not interpret the manual correctly... All-in-all, this is a program definitely worth the investment money, and the time you will need. If the author would only stop trying to do everything himself, and hired a *proper* editor to clean up the mess, this would be a 5-star review.

This app is uniquely useful for a diversity of planning, documentation, and design challenges, and one of my favorites on both Mac and iOS. It's a little dense at first, and then surprisingly easy to work with for most use cases once you gain a little experience with it. My only complaint is that I can't really interact with the file data using other tools. Normally this limitation would impair the score by more than one star, but this tool is too useful to give less than 4.5/5 stars. I do wish I could interact with it via a scripting API....
