Keep your menu bar in order.

Overview

Barsoom lets you rearrange any menu bar items in the order you want, and keep your menu bar in order between restarts. Simply rearrange them with the natural OS X way, Cmd-Drag-and-Drop. You can also hide items that you do not need to see simply by Cmd-Right-clicking on the item. Or with the new feature, 1-Click Hide, you can quickly hide everything to the left of the Barsoom icon. You have some apps which have to manage many items in 1 app, such as apps which monitor your system stats. Barsoom can manage them all.

What's new in Barsoom

Version 2.5:
  • macOS Sierra version
  • New feature to add gaps and create groups of icons
  • Few bugs fixed.

Does a great job of keeping my menu bar nice and clean. Highly configurable, means allowing me to hide only the apps I want.

- Hasn't been any updates - Application doesn't consistently work well - Usually have to quit and restart in order to hide items - Bartender hides more items than this app does - Wish it would be updated to fix above issues

While I am a paid customer of Barsoom, please note that with macOS High Sierra there is no longer a need for it. Simply hold down the "Command" key and drag any icon on the menu bar where you want it and its position will persist, even after a restart. Finally, Apple...finally!

This is not new in High Sierra. For as long as I can remember through many previous operating systems this was the case.

@lacwbo - Actually, the ability to move menu bar icons and have them stay where you moved them is a new feature (either Sierra or High Sierra). Before that you could rearrange them, but after you restarted your Mac they'd be back in their default positions. This was listed as a new feature when they released either Sierra or High Sierra (don't recall which).

Doesn't work for me. My icons are all mixed up after a restart. Either Barsoom is incompatible with recent Mac OS versions or its a bug that should be fixed... because presently that app simply doesn't do what's written on the tin.

My menu bar gets a lot of use and gets really full when I'm in full work mode. I've tried Bartender 2 and this app is a great alternative to that at half the price. There is an extra "click" on the menu bar item for Barsoom and the "hidden items". I would prefer it if I could just click the '3 dots' and see my hidden items, but it's really not a deal breaker. Seriously considering purchasing the full version with 5 days left on my trial.

Barsoom is an indispensable app if you want total control of your menu bar icons. I discovered it after learning that Bartender 2 quit working with macOS Sierra and the Bartender developer stopped communicating. macOS Sierra already allows Command+Drag for icons on the Menu Bar, but it will not retain your selected icon repositioning between restarts. Barsoom WILL do this. Barsoom also has very simple and easy-to-use "Hide/Unhide" controls that surpass those in Bartender 2. The only app I've found so far that won't retain it's position between restarts is MacUpdate's own MUMenu app. I emailed the developer, who is VERY responsive, and he downloaded MUMenu to see why it's not working. An app that works, reasonable price, and a developer who cares about his customers. What more could you ask for.

Excellent application (some little bugs, but is not 2 buttons app) and developer always in touch. Free of charge in the bundle - a good choice!
