I really want to like it, but. Many podcasts have no ID# tags & there seems to be no way to add them using Instacast. And it seems to be for desktop playback only - no easy way to add to an iPad playlist. Without those features, it just doesn't cut it.

Bummer I just bought it. It's not working with OS X Lion. I can't upgrade my machine to 10.8 because I am running software that can't go beyond Lion. Why such a basic software is doing that?

Every release since 10.7 has been pretty colossal for developers, and 10.10 is continuing this trend. Having to support systems even two versions back is becoming more and more unattractive as it means forgoing the use of any of these morsels. Targeting 10.7 and especially 10.6 also means more work for the developer thanks to quality of life changes in 10.8+.

Lacks essential information like how many times you played a podcast episode (or just if you played it at all). If you have a small hard disk you can run into trouble as it is impossible to move your downloaded podcasts to another location than the default which is within Library.

Steps to move your downloaded podcasts to another location: 1. Go to /Users/<username>/Library/Containers/ 2. Move 'com.vemedio.osx.Instacast' folder to another drive. 3. Then open Terminal and create a symlink in the Containers folder, pointing to a new location: ln -s /Volumes/<newdrive>/com.vemedio.osx.Instacast /Users/<username>/Library/Containers/com.vemedio.osx.Instacast 4. Open Instacast and enjoy :)

I love this app! I am also using the app on iOS and cloud syncing really works great. The OS X app doesn't have all the features of its iOS counterpart, but you can build better workflows with AppleScript support and archiving media files is much easier because you can actually access the media files.

As polished and nice as its iOS counterpart. I can't recommend the iOS player enough and this is a very nicely done port to OS X. The UI is reminiscent (intentionally, no doubt) of Reeder.
