ScreenSleeves overview
ScreenSleeves detects which music player is playing, and displays cover art and details for the currently-playing track.
ScreenSleeves displays the album artwork(s) for the currently-playing song with some details, even lyrics, in some neat, easy-on-the-eye ways (it has a number of themes). Perfect for downtime or parties.
Important Note Screensleeves has a long history as a screensaver. Security changes within macOS Mojave have made it impossible to continue as a true screensaver (which is a system plugin). The solution has been to put ScreenSleeves within its own 'standalone' app which emulates a screensaver. This has other advantages, such as displaying a small floating window when not in full-screen mode which users have asked for throughout its history. This standalone version replaces previous versions which are now unsupported and will not run on Mojave. It has a free trial, after which requires a license key.
Support for Music, iTunes, iTunes internet streams, Swinsian, Spotify, Airfoil Satellite, Snowtape, Ecoute, Rdio, Radium, Audirvana Plus, Hermes (Pandora client). Screensleeves detects which is playing.
What’s new in version 6.10.4
Version 6.10.4:
- First version built as Universal Binary, runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Minimum support is now MacOS 10.12
- Restores 'fetch artwork from web' functionality (broken for a while because Gracenote service no longer avaiable)
- Alters the preferences a little. 'When no artwork is available' is a binary choice of nothing/default artwork. Adds new item 'Fetch from web:' which has the options 'never/when no artwork is probided by player/always.
- The 'always fetch from web' option is useful if the quality of your artwork in your player is not so good. The new 'fetch from web' functionality works well most of the time, and will fetch artwork at the size required for retina screens, so should always look sharp.

This 'stand alone' version has replaced the older screensleeves, and I personally find it a downgrade. I used to be able to log out and screensleeves would be my screensaver, and it would appear as an option in the screen saver options in my Mac settings.
What this did was enable me to access it by simply logging out using hot corners, and not have to open the app up first and have it permanently sat in my dock.
If I had known this new limitation, then I would not have paid for it.
Aside from this, it does what it says on the tin .

question, as an app is it only time now that has it start, meaning if I am watching a video and not doing anything to mouse or keyboard, does it know a video is playing and stays off, or does it only recognize nothing has been touched and will turn on in the middle of my movie

I don't use screensavers much anymore, but occasionally I'll turn on the OS X screensaver app while streaming music on iTunes, just to have the covert art displayed with Screensleeves. It does a great job of finding cover art for whatever is streaming. It can't find cover art for everything out there, but mostly does a great job. Is it possible to make this into a desktop app as well, with a transparent background window? I think there was another app that did this but I can't remember the name, or if it's still current. Thanks!

I would like to see more players made available to use this if possible, for instance the new heart menubar app, I really like the screen saver though
