Note: This is a background app, it resides on the Mac menu bar called "H". Click on that to get back to the preferences.

  • Incremental backups.
  • Supports multiple email accounts
  • Add the accounts, set the backup frequency and it'll unobtrusively backup emails in the background
  • Native Email Browsing interface where you can undelete specific emails (in case of user error)
  • Independent IMAP Server to Server migration utility
  • Emails can be archived as a ZIP file making your data portable
  • Clever restore process that'll skip already existing emails
  • Stores emails in open format (.eml) which can be opened in clients like Apple Mail

Initially, it didn't backup my account like Rickzeman mentioned. I sceptically contacted the developer. The developer provided fairly good support quickly. He created new version for me to test, after a going back and forth a couple of times he was able to fix the bug. It seems to do the job, for now. I wish it had an option where I can set the backup path so I can back it up on my external hard drive.

Working well for me in the first 2 weeks of use. Needed to try a different program than MailSteward, which I have had too many problems with. Horcrux fixed their wrong date order problem with 4.0.6 almost instantaneously after notifying the developer. Pretty good!

Having read the previous reviews, it is obvious that the author is listening (e.g. there is now an alternative backup location field in the settings) and working hard to address any short term issues. I had a support request (while still in the trial period) and it was responded to, analysed and fixed within the day. It now serves my purposes perfectly which is backing up my Exchange MAPI account to an external drive on a timed basis in the background.

This product is useless. It has a last backup time, yet browse backups says there are no backups, nor is there any network activity to indicate a backup is ongoing. Congrats...thanks to Apple's removal of any semblance of a refund policy, the author just screwed me out of $6.99 with this totally useless POS.

Hi, The Developer here. Sorry for the issues you are facing. Just wanted to add that, network activity never happens on the main application. A helper service (Look for EmailService if you use LittleSnitch) does the actual backups. Try restarting the backup. Usually the first backup takes quite a lot of time. The consecutive backups updates quickly. Browse backups should work after some time. Please feel free to contact us at http://thehorcrux.com/support

Let's see, there is no content there other than a 1 help article, under "File a ticket" the mailto: link isn't a link, just text, and the "contact us directly at the contact form" goes to a page at horcrux.com for sale by a cybersquatter. "You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike..."
