As a concept Biitcasa is awesome service. However, in reality Bitcasa in its current form is nothing more then alpha level concept that shouldn't be in consumers hands. The main problem is the fact that this service is extremely unreliable. When you upload your file to cloud storage you expect it to be there. With Bitcasa this is not the case. It is very likely that something has gone wrong with your uploads and the files are corrupted. In my experience almost half of my uploads have failed meaning another go at uploading. Unfortunately the upload speeds are also very slow especially when backing up your photo library from iOS device.
The fact remains this is the worst cloud storage service I've ever used. For pure storage go with DropBox or similar and for sharing use Droplr or similar. There is no room for highly unreliable service like Bitcasa.
but the Mac App just simply doesn't work. Files don't get uploaded, the app say 1M from finishing and after 3 days still say the same message, leaving files unknown if uploaded or not successfully.
And with the new costs of 99 USD / month just make no sense to get such an expensive junkie. would be almost ok if at least worked.
Another problem is that often forgets your login, and you have to re-login, plus sometimes forget your computer too, that means all your sync are useless as now you have to resync everything.
It works really fast here in China, that is actually a surprise. So far the new version is working great (a bit of over usage of cpu, but it's ok).
compared to dropbox, well it's a different thing... but this one works better for backup, as you pick folders.
i'm using the free version, but if works stable, i may pay the 69$ for 1 year.
Bitcasa seems to be a great cloud storage, but the app for the mac is so unstable and crashes all the time, it creates a pain in the a...ss!
I know that the beta has just finished...but to me it's still a beta on the mac platform.
