R seems blazing fast and stable. User interface is kind of spartan and old-looking if you like that. Bookmark import does not seem to sort, just makes a subfolder. There seems to be no bookmark bar for quickest access to favorites.

Must reneg. Roccat keeps quitting on me. I think it is the nfl “game cast” refreshes that are giving it trouble.

Hello - the bookmark functionality is being worked on please bear with us, there is a bookmarks bar (View > Show Bookmark Bar) or press Shift Command B.

What system are you using to help us diagnose your issue - and what is the direct URL for the NFL game cast?

Runecats, thanks for reading and replying. I use Roccat 3.9 on Mavericks/MacBook Air. Roccat BookmarksBar has such little spaces for each bookmark and lacks separators so that it is pretty unreadable. For sports sites with their updating game-tracking, you have to go to each site (nfl.com, nba.com, nhl.com) and click on any game. There’s no one main address. While we are at it, the tabs bar for open webpages could use better signaling as to which tab is being viewed. The little blue line is not really eye-catching.

Thanks for your reply, we will get our dev and testing teams to look into the issues - we’ll also get our UI teams involved with the UI issues you are suffering from.

The selected tab is lighter as well as having a blue line - however most users don’t use the Tabs Bar, they tend to use VisiTabs instead.

Was having some issues with 3.8 on Mavericks, was about to post on Macupdate then 3.9 came out - so decided to use it for a couple of weeks before writing a review.

I must say it's fixed all my issues Hooray! And it seems much faster and rock solid, new privacy settings are also much welcomed.

Thanks guys - great that I can still use on PPC and Intel too :D As I have my new Mac with Mavericks, and a G4 for running some PPC software which doesn't work on Intel - so great that I can have a great browser on both, I hope support for both systems continues

Bring on Roccat 4!

Upon launch, Little Snitch catches it trying to sneakily connect to facebook.com ! Are you freaking kidding me?!? I found nothing in the preferences to turn it off or indicate that that you are supposed to know about it. I hate facebook and want nothing to do with it and this browser is trying to secretly contact it! I don't care for what reason, I didn't authorize it or ask for it and if it does that what else will it try to do? NO THANKS!! Avoid any POS software that tries this underhanded sneaky crap.
Deleting and will warn anyone else about this nonsense!
I would give it negative stars for this if possible!

Roccat does not connect to Facebook without your permission, what you probably did it activate the Facebook Status Update panel (This is activated from a three finger swipe down from the address bar, or by pressing ctrl shift F, or by going Social > Facebook Status… or by going to the connect menu and choosing Facebook Status)

Unless activated Roccat doesn’t load Facebook in anyway - and launching that panel only loads a Facebook page - it doesn’t connect with Facebook until you type your message and press share.

I hope this helps.

I had the same results and share your feelings, but decided to still give it a try. I couldn't even get a blank page! Command-N doesn't work. File -> New Window doesn't work.

So, in addition to starting off on the wrong foot with the Facebook thing, it is amazingly USELESS.

A total waste of time.

Decent browser. Good potential. Would be better for me if it didn't freeze and generate a spinning beachball whenever I try to import bookmarks from Firefox. I have never succesfully done this.

Why can't Roccat import from a file, like Firefox, Safari and Chrome?

I hope there's eventual support for extensions (LastPass, 1Password, etc.)

Three stars for trying, but when I import bookmarks it retrieves them but doesn’t distribute them, so they are not in the manager and the bookmarks bar remains unpopulated. Essentially, I’d have to go to every site I bookmarked in chrome or safari and then re-assign it in Roccat.

Here is my honest review of this browser. In deference to Sarah Lee who is on the developer's staff and is very helpful and cooperative,I have to say this browser is far from being an improvement over past versions. Roccat has imported my subscriptions from Safari and it was done successfully. When I click on one of the bookmarks it fails to load the bookmark. This lack of feature has plagued Roccat since its very beginning. In addition I belong to an Analogue group of Audio called Tapeheads.net.Not only does it fail to render the web page correctly, missing various salient parts of the web page, when I insert my user name and password although it accepts it,it looks like it didn't. The web page itself accepts the user name and password but the log in remains blank and my avatar does not appear. This version is poor and for that reason,in deference to Sarah Lee and the staff of Roccat I have to give it one star.

Hello Jazzyguy,

Can you try something for me go to Roccat > Preferences then go to On Exit and change the AdRemover setting to OFF and then relaunch Roccat. Then try the Tapeheads.net website.

Also can you confirm it was working in previous versions?

The bookmark issue certainly isn't a wide spread issue and I haven't yet heard of such as issue - could you contact us at contact[at]runecats.com and I will pick up the email of the other side to prevent lots of messages here.

Unfortunately Sarah Lee isn't working today so I will try my best to match her!

There doesn't seem to be any way to create bookmark folders - which is a deal breaker if one uses lots of bookmarks. And bookmarks do not seem to be transferable from the menu to the bookmarks bar - what Roccat calls "Bookmarks Bar" is actually a menu accessible only through subfolders - i.e., it is not a bar which is located right on the face of the browser directly below the toolbar as it is in every other browser I've used.

I could be wrong about all this, and should probably just consult the Help menu - but there isn't one.

Fantastically fast, but I can't seem to figure out how to clear history from the address bar. There should be a tab in Preferences that allows you to indicate how long (if at all) you want Roccat to save the websites you've visited. I can't seem to find it, or something similar.

Using Undercover Browsing doesn't work, nor does clearing the history....

Also, there should be an icon somewhere that indicates that you are undercover browsing.

And thanks for the Undercover suggestion, I'll pass the info on to the development team!

What I did was export my bookmarks as a HTML file and open it in Roccat and just drag each link to the bookmarks bar.

May not be ideal but it worked for me and it's only a one off thing.

Infact I am finding bookmarks less and less needed nowadays as keeping all the tabs open and backing up to RClouds just removes the need for me, but I guess if you have like 400 then that wouldn't apply ahaha.

I have a similar problem with the Roccat Browser inasmuch as the importation of Firefox and Safari bookmarks display them but clicking on them does nothing. This has been a problem ever since the first version. Strangely Google Chrome bookmarks that are imported exhibit no such behavior. I am using 10.8.1 but my Snow Leopard Macs exhibit the same behavior. Ihave written the developer and I must say his "CAPTHCHA" to defray spammers works poorly to say the least inasmuch I was careful to copy the phrase exactly but I almost lost my entire message however I used the back button in Safari and was able to copy my Text.

Runecats (developer) replied on 03 Sep 2012
Unfortunately you cannot yet manage your imported bookmarks as our bookmark structure is too different from the other browsers.

Jazzyguy, your issue is very different and shouldn't be happening, we will try and resolve this over email. I believe you are already talking with one of my colleagues about the issue.

We are sorry if the CAPCHA is annoying but we had to implement it as we were getting huge numbers of spam emails. This way we can answer emails super quick! We also offer two direct email address on our contact page which you could have used (these have a slightly longer response time).

I have problems on a social site that tries to protect the images of its users by putting a transparent gif on top of the images that are to be protected by serving them with javascript.

The html is broken and very old, but the site generally work in any browser I've tried it in, including Safari, Firefox, iCab and so on. Only in Roccat do these "protected" images not show up, nor are they clickable!

This is example HTML for an image that does show up with the image URL used manually:

There's no specific info in the javascript debugger. I only noticed that for some functions jQuery 1.3.2 is involved. Some problems with external connections but those are for unprotected ads and are most likely unrelated.
