Outstanding Browser. It displays web pages beautifully. For example I am watching WESH.com The Casey Anthony Trial Live Coverage and the flash coverage and picture of the proceedings far exceeds Safari and Chrome as well as Camino. In addition it is really fast.

I am running OS X 10.6.3 on a MacBookPro with an Intel Core i5, 2.4 GHz, on a fresh install of 10.6.3. Roccat 8.5 does not work. There is no window showing, user agent dows not work, main browsing does not work. Roccat does not connect to the internet. Some drop down menus drop down, but that is all they do. This software does not work on my laptop. As of this date, Roccat 8.5 is a waste of time. Do not download this software, and basically, don't waste your time with this. If you do, you'll regret it. Roccat does exactly what I expected. It works in old OS versions so that you know longer see that YOU ARE NOT WORTHY to use our website crap. I run it on Leopard on an old PPC G5 and I also use it on my Mac Mini running Mavericks. It does great on YouTube playback. What is really amazing to me though is the speed. I have had no issues with it and have it installed it on dozens of systems. I recommend it highly, especially for older systems.

Still my fave browser, Roccat 8 brings nothing new to Roccat, but considering how much awesome Roccat 7 brought that really doesn't matter. Roccat 8 focuses on performance and improvements to existing functionality. While I never noticed performance being an issue in 7 I appreciate the efforts and can definitely notice the difference. I just hope Apple can do an equally good job with their promised performance improvements in iOS12!

Can anyone help?

What I find outstanding, and worthy of notice, is that this developer is able to continue to support 10.5 Leopard on both PowerPC and Intel, as well as run on the later OSes. This feat must be a tribute to their unusual skill level.

I'm been using Roccat for many years, each version gets better. Roccat 6 seemed to slow down in terms of innovation, but Roccat 7 really has the wow factor for me! The 'fused bar aware' feature is super cool and seems to work really well from what i've seen so far. All I can say is, i'm impressed! Keep up the good work and thanks for supporting the mac community.

Firefox no longer provides updates for Snow Leopard, so was looking for a supported browser for this platform. Roccat launches and seems to indicate support, but some web pages will not load. Google.com being the most important. But most sites just seem to time out. Seems like mostly https sites suffering but not sure. Back to a slightly outdated Firefox.

This web browser is so fast on my PowerBook G4, it crashes. It's faster than TenFourFox, but the occasional crashing gets really annoying. The social media integration is cool, but I rarely find myself using them. Speaking of social media, it fails to render facebook properly, so I end up going back to TenFourFox. Aside from the occasional crashes, I'd love it if the developer figures out a way to integrate plugins like in safari or maybe have them built into the web browser somehow. For now, I'm going back to TenFourFox and wait until Roccat gets better.

With the performance problems we've been having with Safari on 10.11.1 and .2, I have been considering moving away again. I really would be interested in Roccat if it had a few of these items: • a way to change from visual tabs to standard tabs quickly • a darker theme for the browser chrome and a default black / dark blank page when opening a tab. • adblock / adblock plus / disconnect.me/disconnect • perhaps just generally able to use Safari extensions would be better • High performance on massive tab quantities • Sessions for Safari functionality integrated for saving browsing history (since it is going away soon) • Safari Stand functionality that helps organize downloads better for filtering and sorting downloads • auto importation and updating of other browser bookmarks so that we can access all browser bookmarks at any given time. • a robust history management interface that is similar to Safari, but more performant and built around search (some of us like to keep multi-year histories for research purposes) • a Chrome like status bar

I wanted to like this. I'm leaving three stars because it has potential. I have Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera installed on my Mac Pro running Yosemite 10.5.5. All the browsers are the latest versions. All work reasonably well. I tried this browser and it crashed right off the bat. After two more tries it came up, so then I tried to download the user manual. Big mistake. Crashed again. I copied the PDF's URL into Safari and Firefox. Safari stopped downloading halfway and froze. On Firefox I got a message above my bookmarks bar saying that there was a problem with the PDF. I quit and tried again and after a long time it finally downloaded. I view and download PDFs in both those browsers on a daily basis (my online store creates PDF invoices for every sale.) I then reopened Roccat but it wanted to download the manual again. There was no way to quit and the force quit dialog showed it as a red app, not responding. At first I couldn't find the location of the preference file so I threw away the Roccat folder in Application Support, quit out of everything and tried twice more with the same result: deep freeze. I went back to preferences and tried viewing by date and found it! It's under ORG.Runecats, not com. Deleting that got me back to square one. The default for saving the Fusedbar URLs should be NO. That would have probably prevented the browser from trying to repeatedly download the Roccat manual it was choking on. Next I tried to import my Firefox bookmarks. It's a breeze importing Safari and Chrome into Firefox or the other way around. Roccat, not so much. I chose import in the menu, selected Firefox and there was no feedback (other than to ask me to close Firefox, which I promptly did). Is it working or not? I have no way of knowing. I tried Safari too with the same result. But after I quit and relaunched I did get a menu item with a folder containing a hierarchial listing of bookmarks and bookmark folders from Safari. Not too convenient. Computers and software are supposed to do the drudge work. Decades later and some programmers are still clueless. When I actually visited a site the browser works fine and I like the little previews in the top bar but when I tried to bookmark a site the add bookmark selection in the bookmarks menu was grayed out. I was able to get the add bookmark in the pop up menu on the right side to work and it asked for a name for the bookmark but there wasn't any obvious way to cancel out if I changed my mind. Hitting the escape key actually typed an exclamation mark in the dialog box. Entering a blank into the window and hitting return made the friggin' dialog go away. If this is version 5.1, I shudder to think what earlier versions may have been like. Sorry, I gave up. If you ever get this to work correctly, I would suggest calling the browser runecat instead of roccat (if you can) because Googling roccat brings up some German tech company first and runecat is just as good a name as roccat.

Fast. Clean interface. Page-loading and scrolling can be choppy. Option for links to open in tabs brings up empty pages; changing home-page and new-page preferences does not help, only application-restart fixes. Facebook chat-box is cut off at the bottom. MacBook Air 2014 / OS 10.10.4 / Roccat 4.9

Sweet... very nice browser. Working flawlessly over OS X 10.9.5 Maverick on a MacBook Air 6,2... no “unexpected quit” or crashes :) . Quite fast on most popular sites that I use... although the sky-blue progress bar kind of make you feel it is not so much (even when you time it and Roccat is faster or the same as other browsers)... perhaps it should be more slim or incospicuos ?! ... like underlining text IMHO.Interesting design (may take a little bit to get fully used to it, but overall a great concept and ideas integration). Some toolbar icons doesn't show a description on mouse over (like the one to "flick" or share a website to others, as well as the typical navigation ones... although most people may know them, first time users or not so savvies may feel a little lost... I'm thinking for someone like my mom or older sister... perhaps it would be better to have them display as "text + icon" as default and then the user may change their presentation over the preferences or something... or include a quick tutorial on first lauch).
Overall a great product! Thanks and congrats :)

Test drove this for about an hour. Although I liked the interface, I could not import bookmarks from Chrome, only Safari (which I don't use very often.) Making manual bookmarks and having them appear along the bookmarks bar produces 'mashed-up' text, even with short webpage names. Would it be possible to organise the bookmarks into folders along the bookmarks bar?
Also, in spite of what the description says about blocking Ads, I was constantly re-directed to a number of betting and gambling websites, not the webpages / links I selected. The BACK command didn't work. If these issues were addressed, this has the potential to be a good minimalisr and (fairly) speedy browser.

I was bitten by the no-browser-window bug mentioned above, so I contacted the developer. A handful or more of timely and helpful debugging and beta-software exchanges with tech support led both to a software solution and to a satisfied Roccatter. After successful resolution of the issue, Runecats said to me "I hope it hasn't tarnished our reputation." Not only has Runecats’ reputation not been tarnished, it’s been polished by the prompt, proficient, and professional support offered me. I couldn’t be much more impressed, either with the software or with the team.

I haven't been on Macupdate for a while, but as i've just updated to Roccat 4 I thought I would. I love the new new design, I doubt i'll ever use the theming feature, but nice for those who like customisability I guess. It's great to finally have Autofill, it probably still needs a little bit of work, but for me it's working great. Overall the performance is amazing on my machine, I mean I never had any issues with 3.9 but this takes it to the next level, must be the fastest browser out there. It's a shame it seems to have a bug where some people are unable to use it, I hope they solve this soon, so they can enjoy this browser. My list of things I wish Roccat could have has greatly reduced since Roccat 4, keep up the good work!

Here is my honest review of this browser. In deference to Sarah Lee who is on the developer's staff and is very helpful and cooperative,I have to say this browser is far from being an improvement over past versions. Roccat has imported my subscriptions from Safari and it was done successfully. When I click on one of the bookmarks it fails to load the bookmark. This lack of feature has plagued Roccat since its very beginning. In addition I belong to an Analogue group of Audio called Tapeheads.net.Not only does it fail to render the web page correctly, missing various salient parts of the web page, when I insert my user name and password although it accepts it,it looks like it didn't. The web page itself accepts the user name and password but the log in remains blank and my avatar does not appear. This version is poor and for that reason,in deference to Sarah Lee and the staff of Roccat I have to give it one star.

Thank you to developers: Five Stars for FREE innovation and encouragement, the emotional side of objective reviewing an astonishing product from France. Yes, it borrows from Safari but view in perspective, HoudaSpot copies from Spotlight. I confess I am ahead of myself. Roccat Browser has all the best features of a good browser – still in learning its depths. The UI is effectively useable without studying Help, yes, Mac Intuitive. Best will, thank you Devs and I expect great things. Roccat Munch seems to be Console-like, not yet seriously inspected. pps; The French contributed massively to apps for earliest Mac. They came slowly to OS X, UNIX not a college attainment in Baccalaureate schools and degrees BUT now they are catching up. The beauty of French engineering is simplicity, a ring of plastic was all gear control needed in Renault 4. 'Why make things complicated?' is the French motto. I wish Les Monsieur Devs well. Roccat will hit headlines soon. I found this in MacUpdate.com Adrien, Hampshire, England

Was excited to try visitabs but found that they aren't very responsive (slow) when click on them. Also, double-clicking in the grey area to create news tabs (in the visitab area) is pretty hit or miss (with quite a lot of misses). Visitabs is neat, but I'd rather have the choice of a searchable grid that works closer to Exposé in 10.6.8 where the thumbnails will automatically adjust in size, etc. as needed. For example if there's just two tabs, then they split in half in size and you can click on ither of those. And it just get tinier only as needed when there's lots of tabs open. Also should be able to search tabs with keywords. The vititabs bugginess and lack of practicality (unless it works more like expose) unfortuantely doesn't really put it ahead of safari's new tab viewing abilities (which I also think is lacklaster). The best way to view tabs is by using Alfred's tab workflow, etc. in Safari like this: http://www.alfredforum.com/topic/236-search-safari-and-chrome-tabs/ Once it also allows you to use exposé by hitting the spacebar on each url, that'll send it over the edge.

Are there... - Ability to add custom CSS rules per domain? - Ability to stop trackers and such (like DNT/Ghostery/Disconnect on Chrome)? - Possibility to have 1Password support in the future?

I can't comment on all features because I was halted almost immediately testing this browser. Apparently it's a re-skin of Safari, because it uses all of Safari's information, including keychain items, with no challenge, which would indicate it identifies as Safari to the OS. As such, I can't use this for my purposes of running two browsers side by side signed in with different accounts to the same site, because they step on each other regarding file access and authentication. It seems decent otherwise, if somewhat simplistic in features, but until it's actually it's own distinct application and not sharing files and keychains with Safari I have no use for it.

Still the fastest browser around, love the new minimalist look to buttons, text boxes etc... With many alternative browsers like Camino dying, it is reassuring that Roccat has an active development and they have stated on their Facebook page that they don't plan on ever killing it off :) Keep up the good work! I'm reading the user manual right now and learning about many features I didn't know about!

This browser has a few interesting and/or unique features (why don't all browsers have visual tabs?) but otherwise the feature set is fairly boring and otherwise pretty plain. However, the deal killer is that it has a massive memory leak. Watch it yourself using Activity Monitor. I opened at most 5-6 pages, mostly Yahoo news and the like. Closed them, opened 3-4 more. etc. It doesn't matter what you do, (e.g. close or open pages) the memory use just keeps growing. I quit the program when it hit 727 MP with no windows open! Sorry, this looks like amateur programming. Get your coding act together before you offer this to the public.

I am finding Roccat Browser very fast and I like many of its features. But for the life of me I can't find any way to get it to launch without opening all the tabs from my last session. (I'd prefer it to launch with blank page, or a designated Home page.) Am I missing something?

Imo Roccat is good enough on its own, doesn't need this kind of "help".

I found out about Roccat at macpowerpc.com Roccat outperforms any of the other browsers on my PPC mac, it also has a great simple UI and brilliant features. Macpowerpc said that we should show our support to make sure you keep developing for PPC - so that's what I'm doing! Keep up the good work!

Roccat 3 is awesome, it deserves more than 5 stars, it's clear a lot of thought has been put into it's speed and stability. Also one of it's biggest downfalls I think was it's address bar - but in Roccat 3 I think it's taken the lead and I think it now has the best address bar of any browser. It's nice they have improved a lot of the existing features rather than adding lots of new ones. If this is a preview of how future updates are going to be then I think I'm going to be a happy chappy!

Been using Roccat 2.9 on a dual G5 in 10.5.8 for about a week. This browser is really coming along, nicely. Don't really know if it is in 64bit PPC mode but it is very fast compared to other Webkit browsers. One problem is that it crashes when importing Firefox bookmarks but does just fine with Safari bookmarks. Worried about creeping "featureitis" tho.

Fantastically fast, but I can't seem to figure out how to clear history from the address bar. There should be a tab in Preferences that allows you to indicate how long (if at all) you want Roccat to save the websites you've visited. I can't seem to find it, or something similar. Using Undercover Browsing doesn't work, nor does clearing the history.... Also, there should be an icon somewhere that indicates that you are undercover browsing.

Just started using this browser, well I'll be using it on and off and monitoring it's development, but it promises to be a worthy replacement for Camino, finally. However, I've come across a few issues already. I'm running Intel 10.5.8. I can't figure out how to save bookmarks into the bookmarks menu only, rather than the tab - is there going to be an option to do this? I'm also really struggling with multi-tab browsing. One tab only, or sometimes two, and it is a lightning-fast browser. However, I haven't yet managed to get past two functional tabs, the third one just hangs trying to load a page - has anyone else come across this? Finally, no matter if I change the name of the bookmark when I add it, it ignores this and adds the original name. So, in short, a great and fast browser, looks good, but with several niggles and issues that affect stability and usability. I am sure it will be a great browser soon though. Have you thought about creating a development forum where users can raise issues btw?

Been using Roccat browser off and on for a while. Because of stability problems with another browser, have again made this my browser du jour and am enjoying its speed and stability as well as some of its various features. Having just upgraded from 2.3 to 2.9, I am, however, bummed about the newer, less colorful icon; wish you'd bring the old one back. Another more substantive suggestion is that it would be nice if you made the download manager window have the option of not floating on top, and as well as to minimize it, i.e. add a "yellow" button to it. I've checked the preferences, but see no way to change this currently. Also am curious if Roccat browser has extensions/add-ons. Doing a search I find a greasekit one and it appears to also use the same clicktoflash plugin as Safari. Do other Safari plugins also work with Roccat browser? If so, you ought to make this more manifest. Having searched your site some, I see you have a text editor app, runetext, will check this out. On the subject of your website, I noticed some of the links don't always work, e.g. at some point I could no longer get to your runetext product page without first going back to your homepage. This is just meant as a heads-up on the matter. I'll also note that you runecats are very responsive to MU comments. Kudos, cats.

To the guys at Runecats: Cool browser. Horrible website. How can you make a web browser HTML5 and CSS3 compliant, and then build your website almost entirely out of images? And have you tried using the top navigation dropdown menus at all? The links simply don't work and the fade is so slow that you have to wait several seconds for them to fully appear. I just want to bring to your attention that if you are releasing a web browser as one of your products, you may want to make your own website more compliant and easier to use.

I'm starting to love this browser on my 1.5ghz PowerBook G4. It's very fast, runs with almost no lag (something PPC's are infamous for when it comes to the internet) and even things such as Flash run much better (even better than TenFourFox 10-17!). One complaint though... Well it's more of a suggestion. The interface needs some work still. Something about it looks... off. Some kind of AdBlocking would also be nice. I really would like the tab bar to look more like the latest Safari's tab bar. Where the tabs fill the entire bar, and as more tabs are created they shrink and move to accommodate them. (Look on youtube if you don't understand what I mean). Big problem I'm having right this second. I do enjoy the fact that when you are in a text field, the field enlarges a slight amount to show you (I love this. It's cool.) but it's not that noticeable. So under-noticeable in fact that it looks more like a glitch to regular users. And right now while I'm writing this, the text field blurs every 5-10 seconds or so which is VERY disorientating (at first I thought it was from lack of sleep). It would be awesome if you could open the settings and change how much the text field enlarges by (I personally would like it to be more obvious and bigger) or turn it off completely. Also..... PLEASE KEEP THIS ON PPC! :)

Finally—thumbnail tabs. It's astonishing that all browsers don't have this. However—I opened seven Yahoo! news stories and the browser took 927 MB. No thanks. Sticking with Omniweb, currently the most efficient (RAM-wise) and feature-rich browsers; no add-ons or plug-ins needed.

My last review I gave 4 and a half stars as I felt Runecats were starting to loose there touch by only updating incremental updates such as bug fixes. Since my review 4 months pasted without a single update and I thought that maybe the project was dying. But I take it all back as they have obviously been very very busy, because Roccat 2.5 is actually the best update so far, the Facebook integration is very handy, Roccat Flick is a great feature I often email links to my self to view on another device but now I can simply flick them across. They have also launched a version of Roccat for iOS which make RClouds much more useful as all the tabs on my Mac are now viewable on my iPhone. The new version seems much more refined as almost every aspect of the browser seems to be positively tweaked, and Runecats boosting over 100 new features. Lastly it seems faster and I love the new logo as I wasn't keen on the firery one. It's also nice to know that it supports retina macs, I am tempted to get one but not sure if I want to spend all that money!

I love Roccat. My main reason for switching from Safari was that digidesign (AVID) core audio from pro tools would crash while using it for safari, not the case with Roccat. If you are using pro tools and use core audio, you need to be using Roccat. 1 problem, how can I get it to stop auto-filling the address bar? I type in youtube and all the sudden it types in a huge URL for a video I don't want to watch, I just want YOUTUBE.COM… very frustrating.

I have problems on a social site that tries to protect the images of its users by putting a transparent gif on top of the images that are to be protected by serving them with javascript. The html is broken and very old, but the site generally work in any browser I've tried it in, including Safari, Firefox, iCab and so on. Only in Roccat do these "protected" images not show up, nor are they clickable! This is example HTML for an image that does show up with the image URL used manually: There's no specific info in the javascript debugger. I only noticed that for some functions jQuery 1.3.2 is involved. Some problems with external connections but those are for unprotected ads and are most likely unrelated.

Are there any openings for tying the OS X Key Manager or URL Manager services to Roccat? Plug-ins like Flash seems to work very nicely on PPC which is important as my current browser TenFourFox is lagging slowly. What can be the expected performance in PPC — I have a dual 2.0 G5 with 8gb of RAM — with many open tabs and many bookmarks?

I am not going to lie, I do LOVE Roccat, I currently use it as my primary browser. But I can't help but feel that there haven't been many new features, Roccat 2.0 was amazing and introduced lots of new features, but since then nothing new has been added except security & visual updates and bug fixes. I would like to see some new features, afterall I always saw Roccat as the browser which was progressing the most, I understand there is a limit to the amount of new things which can be added but still would like to see something new! Hopefully your next version will bring something awesome, if you bring something new and awesome I will rate a 5 star again!

I must say I am liking Roccat 2 a lot, I mean the cookie management is great but it shouldn't have been there in the first place. The auto-reloader is nice to have built in however Chrome and Firefox do have this availible as a ad-on. Lion Fullscreen is great not enougth programs yet alone browsers are supporting this standard so great to see Roccat using it. But the feature which really stands out is RClouds, now as far as I am aware there is nothing like this in any browser. RClouds has already been very useful for me, I can make up all my open tabs, history, bookmarks etc.. at home and restore everything at the mac at my workplace, you can then use reset when you are finished. So it can be used as a backup as well as making everything far more portable. I also have to mention that it seems smoother and snappier than ever before. Giving credit when due :)

I've been trying out Roccat for a few weeks now and it's OK but nothing to get excited about. I'd say that Firefox and Safari are more competent browsers …I'll take either one, with the nod going to Firefox, over Roccat. Even Chromium outdoes Roccat IMHO. The one big, big, shortcoming of Roccat is that there's no apparent way to save passwords, which makes Roccat rather a pain in the ass to use regularly. Anyway, does the world really NEED another browser? Hmmm?
