CameraBag is a desktop photo app with a whole new approach to photos. Redesigned from the ground up, CameraBag's Analog Engine pairs a full suite of photographic tools with the high quality filters and vintage simulations the series is already known for. Its key innovation is a stunningly straightforward approach to layering, rearranging, and endlessly tweaking all of these effects in realtime. The 100+ fully-adjustable filters and 25+ professional controls CameraBag ships with are only the beginning, forming the palette from which users create their own styles.

wow .. what a mistake to subscribe to Macupdates desktop. I see that the download package was noted as being wrong back in mid 2012 and as i see today it is still wrong ..

sorry CameraBag developer, but you get a crappy rating for not noticing that your update is not actually being delivered by Macupdates

Great little tool to create instant looks.

What's really cool is you can save sophisticated looks into favorites.

Less cool is you can't reopen an image and start where you left off (but if you saved the favorite, you can just reapply the favorite).

Very easy to rearrange the building blocks (unlike Snapseed). Camerabag 2 is one fast application (why I bought it).

What is not so much fun is that cropping is really hit and miss when you put a frame on your picture (although if you know which frame you want, you can crop with your framing in mind). You can also change your cropping without having to go back through all the steps (all blocks are dynamic, remember).

Very, very cool toy.

As Nevercenter wrote on Twitter on Jan 25th: "we're selling CB2 as a separate product (no upgrades)"

So no upgrade license available for software which only was updated once ?

I'll pass for this version 2 which has a terrible Interface and no Sparkle Support ! ;(

If you use the iPhone app, you'll know what to expect from the desktop version. CameraBag is a quick way to add some cool filters to your photos. I wouldn't pay $20, but I think the $10 is worth it. Extremely easy to use and very fast.

What's nice as an app for 1.99 on the iPhone, is not nice for 19$ on the Mac. WAY TOO overpriced for what it can do. The effects are good, but very very limited. For 2$ I'd buy it, maybe, for quick editing of images to be emailed.

Tried it, deleted it. For me, the showstopper is the inability to scale and reposition the image. Yes you can select different crops, but you're stuck with whatever part of the image CameraBag retains after cropping, with no ability to set the crop to a specific part of the image. If the developer added a crop tool, then I'd give CameraBag a second shot.

I have to agree here. I paid for it, but was very surprised when I could not find an edit menu to select and copy, nor could I find a grab tool so I could slide the image around and rescale it so I could apply the filters to the portion I wanted. I hope this is just a work in progress with more to come.

CameraBag is a quick fix if you want an instant effect rather than use photo shop to do the effects manually. It's fast, drag and drop and has nice available effects. Hoping the developer will add more effects or add sliders (manual adjustment) to each effect to optimize the photo for the user's preference.

Freedom to Play

With CameraBag, you don't have to know what look you want to get started. CameraBag lets you see all the possibilities at once: old-school instant film or modern high-contrast portrait, subtle color adjustment or complete artistic overhaul. Choose from side-by-side comparisons with the fullscreen Quicklooks, or get large, instant previews on mouseover; the emphasis is on creative exploration. Once you've chosen a filter, its components are all in the tray to tweak and adjust non-destructively with large, interactive sliders. The Remix slider in particular brings back the "happy accidents" of analog film, smoothly transitioning between infinite natural variations for each style.

Advanced Control

The new CameraBag features a full suite of photographic tools, from simple exposure and cropping to advanced vignetting, color correction, and curves. The built-in styles also now have full control over their strength and variation. Since every adjustment appears as a tile in the tray, it's easy to see everything affecting the image at once, and rearrange tiles or edit amounts without compromising image quality. Adjustments and styles can be freely layered to create new looks, which can be saved right into the interface as new filters. Whenever a filter is loaded, the user once again has full control over all of its tiles.

The Analog Engine

At CameraBag's core is the brand new Analog Engine: high-fidelity, 32 bits-per-channel, non-destructive, multi-threaded image processing. In other words, it's fast and smooth. CameraBag matches the power of high-priced software, yet it's light on its feet and starts up instantly. Its old-school looks are particularly high tech: recreating the natural blemishes and random variations of the analog world is one of the hardest digital challenges, and that's where we've devoted much of our research. Even the most heavily-modified photos retain smooth, film-like colors (especially with the extra color information in RAW files).
