GPSPhotoLinker can be used to save GPS position data to a photo. The latitude and longitude recorded by your GPS unit while you were taking photos can be linked, and saved, to the photos.
The issue commented on by BRETT4 was a result of bad firmware in the Canon 40D outputting invalid CR2 files and has long since been resolved. The camera's firmware update fixes the issue, but also GPSPhotoLinker works around the problem. Since the latest review for this application is from 2010 I thought I chime in here real quick. I have been using GPSPhotoLinker for over a year and it has always performed flawlessly for me (OS X 10.8.5).
The interface is not particularly pretty or shiny, but functional and easy to figure out. I had no experience with geotagging before I got GPSPhotoLinker, but the process is really straightforward (even for beginners) - load the GPS data, load the photos and press a button.
Most folks will probably only ever use the "Auto" mode, but I have found the "Manual" mode to be a great addition. I built a little database of the places I visit the most inside GPSPhotoLinker and now I can apply my tags manually to photos I didn't record data for, that's really convenient.
GPSPhotoLinker is a great little app that does exactly what it is supposed to do (and it's free!).
PS: I use my iPhone to record the GPS data when I'm out and about with my camera. The app I settled for is called "Geotag Photos Pro" and it automatically sends the data to Dropbox from where I load it into GPSPhotoLinker - I'm very happy with this setup :))
GPSPhotoLinker is actually the only such utility I managed to locate through MacUpdate that actually allows you to EDIT GPS information. I had a bunch of photos that displayed West GPS longitude instead of East and had to change them.
GPSPhotoLinker has also a very mac-friendly interface and lots of other features as well. Bottom line: a must have!
This is a great application for adding GPS data to your EXIF data. You can't beat free! Occasional stability issues.
If it had the jhead style ability to save the adjusted file with the original date/time I'd give it 5 stars.

I will try this out, but also am going to go with what the photo guys on TWIP Podcast http://twipphoto.com/ have said is brilliant http://www.semsons.com/amaggpsdalos.html
Very very cool program. It takes the time off you data track from you gps and uses that to match up with the time from the picture so you just load the pictures and the .gpx file and you're crusin.
This application is excellent. Does what it should do and does it quick.
If it only could be automated (either automator actions, applescript or called from the command line) it would be perfect, as I usually transfer my GPS tracks and then transfer my photos and the process is always the same for them.
If this was added to the application I'd be completely happy with it.
This program does all it says it does and very well.
Since the GPS data isn't usually recorded precisely when you took your photo, GPSPhotoLinker offers an excellent combination of choices to locate the photos in time and space. Many other options.
The developer is responsive. I've been writing him for maybe six months with requests and he's implemented many of them. I'm just a satified customer.
