VoodooPad Lite overview

Note: According to the new developer, Plausible Labs, "With the introduction of VoodooPad 5, we have stopped making new releases of VoodooPad Lite."

VoodooPad Lite is the stripped-down free version of VoodooPad. VoodooPad is a new kind of notepad. It's like having your own digital junk drawer, where you can jot down notes, Web addresses, to-do lists... Anything on your mind. VoodooPad automatically links each page together, to form a miniature world wide Web just for you! Anybody familiar with WikiWikiWeb will feel right at home with VoodooPad.

Type in your notes, and highlight important words or phrases to create new pages; or drag and drop folders, applications, or URLs into VoodooPad - they're linked up whenever the word representing it is found.

VoodooPad Lite is abandonware. It will never be updated beyond v4.3.6, which is 32-bit. VoodooPad v5 continues to be supported @$25.

Really nice. At the perfect price. I'm always meaning to upgrade, but haven't yet. One of those "why would I ever use this?" For web 'reseach,' this is just grand. I've used it to collect information off the web for some writing, cut & pasted into VoodooPad with the hotlinks intact & then crosslink it locally into its own loose database for further processing in other applications. This is a MUST have application, that along with just a few others, makes the Mac environment special.

The free version of VooDoo Pad may not have the best name, but it does things that competing notepads wouldn't even try. URLs, links, images, and text can be dropped onto the window, and they're as good as stored. Other pads may be better at organizing material, but VooDoo Pad is exceptionally convenient. In fact, I'm seriously thinking of upgrading. No matter what pad you may use for text, you may end up wanting to stay with VooDoo Pad for all the rest of your digital work.

Regardless of what an app's MU page says about compatibility, an auto updater should not update to a version that is not compatible with the installed operating system, or at an absolute minimum make it clear what the minimum system requirements are. You should not have to go to MU or the developers site first to check the system requirements before allowing the auto updater to run. (Why do so many Leopard users have pompous attitudes toward Tiger users???)
