Cluttered, unwieldy interface, buggy software, horrible pricing scheme. Tried and trashed. No deal with this guy.

Seems to work with MOS 10.12 (Sierra) but I would need to do a whole lot of faxing to make it worth almost $50.00. However it may be the only direct fax modem support for Sierra currently available. Since I already have Fusion and Windows, I will continue to stick with that solution for the few faxes I send, especially since the effort to use it is similar to this product.

Coma X does appear to work on Sierra. But please note that you will need a fax modem that supports Class 2 or 2.0 faxing if you want to receive faxes..

You can only send faxes with Coma X using Class 1 fax modems like the USRobotics USR5637. Pity!

Please note you can get most of the original support for faxing back if you want to copy some files from a working El Capitan installation over to your Sierra installation.

The main files you need are OPEN SOURCE unix programs licensed under the GPL. That is what Apple was using in previous releases of Mac OS X.

I forgot to add that you can find the Apple open source code for the fax functionality here if you want to compile the binaries yourself:

https://opensource.apple.com/source/efax/

Or just copy over the missing binaries etc from a working El Capitan installation over to Sierra. (See the link to the Tidbits article in my previous post).

Did not work with my old miniVigor 128. I could not send faxes. There is no integration into the cups printing system like for bluetooth phones already provided by Apple. Weird user interface.

Thank you but after reading all the reviews, I will continue to stick with Pagesender from" Smile on my Mac " that has functioned well for me over the years and which provides good support along with timely updates, mostly free, for the product.

"mostly free" is $39.95.... Hmmm I'll use eFax when I need to fax... Or better yet, send an email.

"mostly free" referred to the cost of the updates, not the product itself. Pagesender has also now been designated a "mature" product and has been withdrawn from sale as their no longer will be any updates or compatibility fixes. As such I must withdraw my recommendation for it. I have now deleted it from my machine since it failed for me to function under Lion. But then so did my Apple USB modem, which Apple choose to disable by not providing support code for it in Lion. I am now using a USRobitics USB Modem with Apple's somewhat anemic fax software but it does function with the Dialectric dialer as well.

I can't figure this application out. It seems to have a lot of fax features, but they tend to just get in the way for me because all I was looking for was an answering machine program, and this didn't deliver. The greeting message does not play smoothly (or, even understanably) when it answers the phone because it spreads the ~4 second message over 40 seconds while it tries to convert it from AIFF to whatever 'modem format' is required. I wish I/it could do this just one time in advance, so it doesn't have to do it every time. Also, I can't listen to messages that are left, neither at the time they are being left or later. I just don't understand it.

very, VERY vague manual...more like a hint of what you might do instead of a clear, indepth, step-by-step instruction. The app seems very nice but everything is very unclear. The online manual asks you to click buttons and open windows that are not there in the app (or if they are there are wrongly named). Way too high of a price to pay for software that I have to figure out for myself. I wouldn't rate this because I don't want to trash a nice piece of software(?) when it may be me that's being a bit thick, but...

Would not mount on my mac after downloading. I don't know if that has something to do with my computer or the software. Anyway, just thought I'd let it be known.
