Boom makes life easier by boosting the audio output of the entire system rather than focusing on a few applications. This means the user can now enhance the volume of popular media-playing applications like iTunes and QuickTime. The volume of YouTube, Hulu videos playing on the web browser can also be boosted. Voice applications like iChat and Skype can use Boom to enhance their audio experience.

Additionally, Boom provides first-of-a-kind simplified equalizer with custom presets to further tweak the audio experience at the system level.

Truly excellent, but not yet compatible with OS X 10.8

I suspect that "Mountain Lion" will be ready for the "rest of us" shortly.

Yet another must have, cannot live without app. I don't know why Macs can't get this kind of volume already built in but it makes a difference.

Hehe, I thought this was the game BOOM: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/1731/boom

But the obvious difference is that this apps name isn't written in all caps…

For an expert user like myself, Boom is a little too simple. I really like the visual display of the EQ effects on the frequencies, but a parametric EQ and the ability to monitor the output and show distortions and a spectral graph would be more my speed. I got Boom in the last MacUpdate Promo bundle.

Also, I use Airfoil to transmit the audio to my iPhone so I am not tied to headphones plugged into the machine all the time. But with Boom, I have less feedback than Airfoil.
Also, it looks like I cannot choose to EQ the Airfoil audio stream. It seems as if I can only EQ the System Output. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) I use separate audio cards and outputs all the time, and I route system sounds to the system output and all others such as music to either Airfoil or a USB or FireWire Audio interface so I don’t get annoying beeps while listening to music.

If Boom were to (1) add more feedback as to what is actually happening live (including a distortion "redline"), and (2) allow me to select source and output I would up my star rating by at least 1–1.5.

I bought Boom but I regret it. Not stable.

Discovered Hear, tried it and bought it, http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/27310/hear

It's orders of magnitude better and rock solid.

Hi Noivad,

Consider your suggestions noted.
Currently we have provided marking on Equalizers when hovered the mouse over the area.

Basically Boom is aimed at providing a superior volume boost and equalizer directly on the Mac. Providing the support to the connected eco-system [speakers, headsets etc] is secondary and depends on the hardware manufacturer as to how it should behave.

No other user have complained specifically about Airfoil. It might be one-odd case.

Registration worked for me, key was accepted. If you don't know where to register it (took me a while to find), open its main window and then click on the settings icon which is located on the bottom left of the window, which reveals a menu containing a "Register" item.

Hi Tobias,

Please ensure that you copy and paste the entire code and leave no spaces either before or after the code.

Still if you find any issues then we suggest you to quit and launch Boom.

Yeah, likewise. I haven't really used it much, but tried it today, and it just distorts once you get past about 2/3 volume (before the 'Boost' section).
