Firetask uniquely combines the advantages of classical priority-and-due-date-based task management with GTD.
  • Stay focused and on top of your commitments - Firetask's "Today" view shows all relevant due and next tasks in a single, clear overview. Due tasks only appear when becoming due within the next days, next tasks only if they are the first next task of a project or if marked as flagged. This helps you to focus on your most urgent and important tasks.
  • Manage your tasks in a project-oriented way - Firetask is project-oriented. Every task is part of a project and the

It is a good attempt. Firetask is not perfect but with the addition of the iPad/iPhone app and syncing it makes up for many shortfalls.

I like the fact that it's not too complicted. There's nothing worse than having to spend days working out a program and how to use it.

I hate the fact that you can't use the normal European date system. It forces you to use the rather stupid month / day / year setup which if you're not American is pretty useless at best, confusing at worst.

European date format works in Firetask for me, no problem

I try out FireTask nearly every time an update comes out, only to ditch it again after 5 minutes. Why? You cannot attach files, URLs (esp. email-URLs), etc. to tasks via the interface (sure I can get a link and paste it into the notes, but I usually want to create a new task in response to a document, an email, a website, etc.).

If I am going to rely on a piece of software as the "hub" of my to-do world, I need to be able to get at every "spoke" I'm working on, and create new linky "spokes" with ease. Until FT can provide this kind of integration, it's not worth learning for me.

They seem to be trying to capitalize on the "GTD" system without actually using the structure and syntax of GTD.

No contexts? "Todos"? This is a joke.

It has now and next tasks, it has a someday-maybe list and a waiting-for list, categories=contexts, it has an inbox to collect items, a review pane - all seems quite GTD-like to me. No program out there implements GTD perfectly, that includes Things and OmniFocus

it is too bad the dev has fallen into the same trap as other devs.
having a separate iPhone and iPad app.

the company that has a good mac desktop app and good iOS app (iPhone/iPad combined) with direct syncing will win.

After playing around with lots of the other GTD apps I realised that this was really the app I was looking for. It has all the sorting options I need, input is very easy and the UI is very well thought out. This is a version 1.0 of this product and there a few features missing like proper syncing between two macs and OTA sync for the iPhone companion. I'm overall very satisfied with the workflow of the app, current feature set and the pricing for the Mac app together with the iPhone companion are in a much better range than many of the competing apps.

Just some quick comments after playing around with this for a bit:

1) No way to add files to a task
2) Areas and projects cannot be created on the fly
3) A bit clunky to add tasks or projects (the use of drop down menus makes entry slow)
4) Nice interface
5) More intuitive than most apps of this sort
6) Not worth the price
7) No quick entry shortcuts from other programs that I could find

This helps you to break down your unnumbered tasks into manageable units and it helps us to provide you with a more focused view across all your commitments.
  • Efficiently enter and delegate your tasks -Entering a number of tasks in Firetask is as simple and fast as writing a view lines of text. There is no need to take your hands from the keyboard. Assign projects, categories, priorities, due dates and even delegate tasks via "tagging" using the # and @ characters.
