GV Connect Widget is a companion app for Google Voice.

Are you looking for an easy way to call or send SMS messages to your contacts using your Google Voice number right from your fingertips? GV Connect is your answer:

Call or send SMS messages to anyone from your computer's Address Book database or your Google Contacts (or by manually entering any other phone number) right from your Dashboard.
Select which of your registered phone numbers should be called to initiate the call.
See total number of unread messages in your Google Voice inbox.

Quick update released yesterday fixes the LION problems. Works perfectly now.

I just donated to the developer to show how much I appreciate the hard work put into this.

I have to ask if it was also possible to accept calls using this widget?

The widget is NOT a VoIP app. Get Telephone or X-Lite if you want VoIP.

perfect! you nailed it. only thing i'd like is the same thing that person above mentioned - empty the comment field upon submit - OR - a little "clear info" button that just empties phone and text if desired (i often text myself, so leaving phone in place is perfect for me)

fast, simple, uncluttered, works like a charm...

Double-click the message field to empty it or use the hidden preference described on the website to automatically clear after sending

Works GREAT! Easiest way to set Google Voice... Google should BUY this from you and offer it!

Only "wish" is to somehow have an additional GV Connect Widget for my 2nd GV number... Any suggestions?

You should be able to ad a second instance of the widget to the Dashboard (click the "+" button on the bottom left, then drag the widget from the bar into the open area) and use your second account credentials for this second instance.

I was pleasantly surprised by the full contacts (Address Book or Google) integration for SMS and voice. This is the best frontend for Google Voice (or even Grandcentral) that I've ever seen.

I love this widget. It's so much easier than the website and allows you to pull from your computer's addressbook. only had a couple issues that signing out & back in didn't solve, but I use it multiple times a day.

I find this extremely useful for sending SMS messages through Google Voice. I don't use text on my cell phone, but my kids do. This allows me to send quick messages for free. I think the author did a great job with the look and feel of the widget too! It's attractive, well designed and the author seems very responsive. Earlier versions seemed to freeze from time to time, but this has much improved. I'm giving him five stars!

Nice widget that gives you easy access to Google Voice. I use the widget to quickly access my OS X Address Book app numbers to dial through GV. Also works well to change your GV settings without having to go to the GV web page.

VERY responsive developer. I e-mailed him yesterday about a problem with the widget showing dup entries from Google Contacts and the OS X Address Book, and he responded with a fix the same afternoon. A+

Does what it says it does, seems to work well with no delay compared to using the full GV web site.

A suggestion: In the SMS view there is no way for me to just clear both the recipient field and main text body field. I would like to leave the widget blank for the next message I want to send, rather than having to delete everything every time I want to send out a new SMS.

Other than that it looks and works great. Just needs some interface improvements.

Since upgrading to Growl 1.3 via the Mac App Store, this widget no longer recognizes Growl as being installed (presumably since the Growl Helper App no longer exists). Are there any plans to get this widget updated to work with the new Growl?

1.9.2 is working fine for me on 10.6.3. You might try deleting and reinstalling the widget?

Since downloading v1.8, I'm unable to login and get repeated login errors (in the form of a red stripe at the bottom of the widget). Is this a known bug?

This should be fixed in 1.8.1 - sorry about that (the recent upgrade in the GV protocol caused me to release 1.8 a tad rushed…)
