Intego VirusBarrier remains my personal favorite anti-malware app for Mac. But here's why I knocked off one star: (1) When you allow it to use Real-Time Scanning without 'Scan on low priority', it literally eats your system calls alive. Nothing else is allowed to run, creating the worst possible 'Sit&Spin' scenario. So, don't do that unless you ONLY want VirusBarrier running. Note that unless you're doing something questionable, there is no point in using Real-Time Scanning on a Mac anyway. If you're downloading stuff that could potentially be Trojans or scamWarz crap, then use it! (2) When VirusBarrier does find something bad, it doesn't provide ANY method of canceling out of either Trust what it found, or Repair (aka kill) what it found, or if you have Real-Time Scanning on, shoving the thingy into Quarantine. Those are your only choices. You cannot cancel out of those choices. You cannot Quit the app. You're forced to Force Quit! I've gone over this lousy situation with their tech support twice at this point. But for whatever reason, possibly to prevent malware from killing this mode, they won't change this feature. It can get a bit infuriating. They also never provide a list of what malware protection is provided with updates or what malware the app protects you from as a whole. That's of course due to anti-malware being a competitive UN-scientific business by default, which is annoying but inevitable. - - Otherwise, I love this app. It is frequently updated. It has frequent new malware definition updates. It's fast at scanning after its initial scan of a system. - - I also never buy the yearly malware subscriptions at the standard price. Never. It always goes on sale somewhere or other. This week I got a dirt cheap extra year's worth as part of upgrading Parallels Desktop. Last year I got 3 years worth of updates for dirt cheap as part of a software bundle. Keep an eye out for discounts!

For today, know that v10.9.18 is currently *only* available to a select group of users. Intego tech support told me the final version will be out in few days. I'm assuming it is currently in beta testing.

Also on a subsequent attempt to install mac Optimizer a pop up said Only X was being installed, I did not purchase this or continue with this install. I have also just purchased Disc Diet which installed without issue. I have also unresolved issues with a package I purchased a time ago.(Screen shot of purchases below) Each time I try to install a pop up message says “Insert the (nuli) disc to continue” or “Insert the Virus BarrierX9 to continue"I have no idea what these specified discs are or how to access it, can you please help with these issues.. I actually like Intego's VirusBarrier software, though my problem is that you never stop paying for it–unlike an antivirus software like ClamAV. You pay for the software, and you pay for antivirus updates (I think you get a year free or thereabouts from purchasing it). So it does its job, but it's also a money pit.

Been using product for years. Subscription due, so it says free upgrade to X9 ok, installed. Tried to scan and unable to complete? E mailed support, told 'we are working on this problem' THEY KNEW ABOUT PROBLEM AND LET APP LOOSE! So cancelled subscription , not wanting to pay for this kind of workmanship. Now I notice 10.9.1 version here, is this a fix? Support never go back to me as they said they would. I'm old and can afford products but demand my monies worth, but turning loose bad product and knowing it is not good business. Sorry for my rant, these type of things anger m.

It's way too expensive; and I really dislike the fact, that when the license's not renewed in time, you only get the option to "trust" found malware - it still searches, but you can't quarantaine etc... Sounds like typical scareware-habits to me.
Something else: the silly "NetUpdate" DOESN'T update automatically, I experienced several times I checked the updates manually, to find the last one, which HADN'T been installed, was 1 month old or so!!

My only experience with VirusBarrier is that Intego insists on flagging the open source Mac camera utility Imagesnap as malware, saying that it is infected with "RobSnap.A". A Google search turns up nothing for "RobSnap.A". Since my own open source theft recovery software package (VUWER) uses Imagesnap, Intego is telling its users that VUWER contains malware, too. It would nice if Intego would address this problem, instead of insisting that a couple of open source utilities contain malware that no one else on Earth has ever heard of.

Detailed malware detection test results are regularly posted here for nearly 2 dozen products, free and paid: http://securityspread.com/detection-rate-results/ These are very detailed, showing EXACTLY by name for each malware/virus if it is detected or not, for each product, then products are ranked 95%, 85%, 75% etc based on detection rates. Historical results are maintained so you can compare over time, and you do see product results change with each test (done every month to every 3 months depending on whether there are any new reported malware in the field, and a sample can be obtained for testing). I've done a bit of research on the site and tester, to make sure it was not one of those 'sponsored' sites by a vendor that are made to appear as objective, neutral reviews. The fact that the product rankings change constantly AND that the results are very specific and listed in detail, further support that this site and the tester are very objective. In fact this is exactly the kind of site and test results, that vendors DON'T want you to see, even the ones that do well on the test (because no product is 100%). I am posting this to support the Mac Community. When we are all better informed when it comes to this important area of security in this day of cyber threats, we all benefit. Education and information is the best defense, (as with so many things in life). For example, if someone uses MacKeeper because they don't know better, then in some ways the community failed for not getting the word out. If after doing some research and being advised not to use MacKeeper, someone still chooses to do so, then you can't help that, but hopefully it wasn't because there wasn't information available. My aim is not to support or dissuade anyone about a particular product, you pick / use or don't use whatever product you want, and live with the consequences, just remember that your decision can effect others, by virtue of whether you are part of stopping the spread, or being a part of it. I highly recommend you don't just look at the current results, but look at the past ones as well. You WILL see trends, with some products consistently doing well and others not so much, and some moving up and down. Remember, an A/V product rests on two main things, the scanning engine AND the malware database. A great engine can be crippled if the database is not updated in a timely manner. Conversely, a vendor that does maintain a current database might still not be effective if the program itself is buggy. This site only ONLY addresses virus detection results, it does not in general make any conclusions or post results regarding performance, installation, support, UI, etc.

My review and rating are for VirusBarrierX6 (for OS X 10.6.8) As it turned out, I had an infection of the spigot.A adware trojan that I hadn't been able to track down. I tried ClamXav (which worked on a similar adware infection before), Sophos HE 9.0, which has never found anything on my machine (even when there was an infection which ClamXav found), and Avira and ESET Cyber Security, which found Windows threats, but not the offending files. Also the ESET AV hung up all my browsers after a day and a half. Then I tried Intego's VBX6. I found the bad boys directly with it, , and it has a very nice and transparent (metaphorically speaking) interface, and has not caused any problems. Good documentation is also provided in the installation and online. This will probably be the first Mac application that I will plunk down money for. It can be found here: http://www.intego.com/support/downloads You will need to choose amongst the products in the little menu box (with the up and down arrows on the side) to get the appropriate version. I also recommend ClamXav as an AV app to start with, but it is not as full-featured, and its scanning was not as thorough as VBX6's.

Confusion profusion: This page is specific to the 5-user license version of JUST VirusBarrier. The '10.8.2' update is specific to JUST that particular version at the moment. As for the Internet Security X8 security suite of single-license VirusBarrier and NetBarrier, that has NOT been updated to 10.8.2 at the moment and, as has been pointed out below, can be found on an entirely different page here at MU: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33300/internet-security-2013 Hopefully confusion has now been resolved. This also explains the price difference.

MacUpdate, better fix the price: the $179,99 is for the business-edition with a license for 5 Macs. The regular Mac Internet Security 2013 'Home' edition (consisting of VirusBarrier and Netbarrier) costs $40 euro with one year of protection.

$134.99 for antivirus protection, and that’s the sale price (regular price: $179.99!) ?? VirusBarrier is vastly overpriced. $60 — including free virus definitions updates and same-version updates forever — would be more reasonable. But even at that price, I’d still stick with ClamXav, which is FREE and just as effective but without all the complications of Intego products. NOTE: I’ve been forced to use this by different employers for years and I used to use it at home, so I’m not just a hit-and-run Intego-basher. Also, my 2-star rating is based mostly on VB’s ridiculous price and complexity.

I have been quite happy with the Intego Netbarrier and VirusBarrier offerings for quite some time. Yes, I realize that the value of anti-virus is debatable on a Mac, yet I still choose to pay for protection, my choice. But what I really, really don't understand is why this 2013 version of VirusBarrier has such a ridiculous icon for a professional app. The whole interface was overhauled to tighten it to a pro style, and then this icon????

I have finished my 2-year subscription with VirusBarrier today, and the app ceased from running altogether, locking me out from the web using Safari (I am using Firefox as I write this). If I recall correctly, in my previous subscription VB stopped updating the virus definitions - which I thought was fair enough - but now, the application is greyed-out and totally disabled, all configurations are deactivated, and worse, it interferes with my web surfing, holding me hostage until I renew my subscription. I was going to upgrade at my convenience, but, I have just decided I will not. I realised its value is much less than I thought at first. The application should at least have allowed access to the web with the previous settings. Very poor user experience, Intego!

I've been using VirusBarrier X6 for a while now and am generally happy with it (a good way to renew is to find a retail copy on sale cheap, buy it, and use the serial number to renew your subscription). The upgrade to 2013 Internet Security was not very clear in that Intego is not posting what features got removed or modified in the new version. Here is what I found in using both X6 and 2013 versions, and discussions with the (helpful and responsive) Intego tech support. While Intego has simplified the user experience, they also removed some functionality, which may or may not be important (this list may not be everything but it is what I was interested in) The new suite does log activity but does not allow the user to save logs Trojan Horse protection moved from X6 firewall to 2013 VirusBarrier Unclear if X6 Anti-vandal functions are still in 2013 NetBarrier 2013 NetBarrier does not have web threat protection feature (was in VirusBarrier X6) Whois and traceout removed (redundant to Mac OS X Network Utility)

Generally speaking, this has been a pretty good suite with one glaring past glitch. Renewing From X6: At this point: I don't know what it is I am getting & at what price when I renew and/or upgrade. There are multiple offerings from Intego & none of the FAQs seems to make it crystal clear in definition. It appears that X6 can be continued, but they want you to migrate to their 2013 product. Last time around, nearly a year ago: they simply turned off the firewall! That's not an acceptable practice for a firewall company! Especially when it was recommended to turn off the Apple firewall. (THIS IS NO LONGER RECOMMENDED, btw: Keep your Apple Firewall intact despite using VirusBarrier, etc).

Version 10.7 is ridiculous. All the good things of X6 has been removed. It is a "stupid user software" - no expert mode. And, the firewall that was part of X6, has been removed. Now, you have to install NetBarrier to get the functionality back. I didn't check, if the upgrade serial will work with NetBarrier.

New functionality and design. X6 was full of settings, 10.7 is modern... but we need a good equilibrium between settings and modernity. This version is maybe the most complicated to release, because all that used to be good in X6 was removed... Some people need fine tune of parameters and functionalities, design is secondary...

@DobTodd asked for information about what I call the 'Reverse Firewall' built into VirusBarrier X6. Intego refer to it as part of their 'Two-Way Firewall'. The reverse aspect of their firewall works very much like the application Little Snitch, which is what I personally use as my reverse firewall due to it's geek level custom settings. Here is Intego's description of their two-way firewall: "VirusBarrier X6 protects your Mac from more than just malware. The two-way firewall, together with the Antivandal, provides thorough protection from all types of intrusions and web threats – including hackers and vandals." The manual for VirusBarrier X6 is online. Check out the firewall sections on these two pages: http://www.intego.com/manuals/en/vbx6/4-network-protection.html http://www.intego.com/manuals/en/vbx6/7-creating-custom-firewall-rules.html

Nice looking app. Intego, the company, has been around a long time. But the X6 scanning is darn slow - so far. I started to scan my 750GB late 2011 MBP disk at 6am. It is now 4:10pm, and the scanning is not even 50% complete. Much of the time the computer has been on its own (unused) while I was at meetings. I am running the latest Mountain Lion, have a 750GB Segate hybrid disk (7200 rpm), and 8GB of RAM. X6 is set up to maximize it use of the CPUs (and I have four-cores).

In my local Mac User Group, everyone that installed Intego VirusBarrier 10.6.x, posted that they had a host of problems ten happening, that they didn't have with the previous VirusBarrier X5 version 10.5.10 and NetBarrier X4 version 10.4.5 (the programs used to be individual utilities, rather than the "rolled into one" of VirusBarrier 10.6). Note: The much older VirusBarrier 1.6.2 for Mac OS 8.1 - 9.2.2 and NetBarrier 2.2 for Mac OS 8.1 - 9.2.2 (no longer available, except via second-hand resale), were also recommended for use with Mac OS 9.2.2 running under the PowerPC Classic Virtual Environment of OS X 10.0 "Cheetah" (4K78) PPC - OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) PPC. The reasons given, were that VirusBarrier X versions were not found to always detect all "Classic" Mac OS viruses, worms, and trojan horses * (although VirusBarrier X was good at detecting known DOS and Windows viruses, worms, and trojan horses), and the NetBarrier X versions did not work on functioning as a Firewall for Mac OS 9.2.2 running under the PowerPC Classic Virtual Environment. There were reports that some users had some issues after installing VirusBarrier 1.6.2 of actual booting under Mac OS 9.2.2, if the install went wrong. In conclusion, there have always been some issues reported with Intego VirusBarrier programs - just as there have been reports of problems with other "Classic" Mac anti-virus programs and with OS X anti-virus programs. * Listed as being 26 native "Classic" Mac OS compatible viruses, worms, and trojan horses, and 553 multi-platform Microsoft program and document compatible Word/Excel Macro viruses

This program has spawned 14 “virusbarrier” processes consuming 2+ GB of Real Memory and 1-5% CPU EACH. I also have been having problems with Versions hanging. After uninstalling, my Versions is now back to normal. Others have reported issues with Time Machine. With this program all over the map like this it bears extreme caution before buying.

I purchased this software today but I was given a serial key code that Intego rejected during activation. I emailed MacUpdate and Intego but neither has responded to my inquiry. I love this product a lot and my old Internet Virus Barrier X6 has expired and was hoping to use it right away but the program has been rendered useless to me even after paying for it. Also, initially, the program won't install in my Mac unless I completely delete the old program and the accompanying "orphan" files. It took me awhile to find and delete all the files then reboot my Mac and only at this time I was successful in installing the new program. But to my dismay, I can't activate the darn thing because Intego rejected the serial key code that MacUpdate provided to me.

This software offers a free 30-day trial so I tried it out on my MacBook Pro 2.4g Intel Core 2 Duo with Lion. The good: Comprehensive suite of antivirus, antiphishing, and antispyware services plus an easy-to-use firewall. Frequent virus definition updates enable rapid response to new threats. Options to search for Mac viruses, Windows viruses, and/or 'nix viruses. Options to declare certain files or domains as "safe." Monitors inbound and outbound network traffic. Simple to use with clear (if not robust) downloadable documentation. Graphics panels show network usage, virus engine activity, and other key data. Comprehensive activity logging with optional export to Console. The bad: During my trial, the virus engine process periodically exited in the background unexpectedly, requiring system restarts to re-enable Virus Barrier. Depending upon the Virus Barrier options that I had selected (e.g., scan memory and live file activity), Virus Barrier processing could slow my system noticeably. One option that I apparently had enabled (I never determined which one) caused pages to fail to load in Chrome (these pages always reloaded just fine). If you are looking for antivirus software, it is worth participating in a free trial to see if Virus Barrier meets you needs. I ultimately determined that Virus Barrier was a bit more heavy weight and resource intensive than I need at the moment. The installer provided on the Intego site apparently removed the software swiftly and without incident.

note that your $50 does *not* purchase a license for the app--it rents it for one year. older versions of virusbarrier continued to run (albeit with expired virus definitions). X6 runs for 365 days, and expires. after which, the app must be purchased again *at full price*.

I took this for a test drive for a few days and I was generally impressed with it. I didn't have any slow downs or stability problems on a Mini 2.53 C2D/4GB, 10.6.8 machine. My only complaint is that I wish that the outgoing connection alerts of the Anti-Spyware feature were more like those of LittleSnitch or HandsOff. VB only gives a simple Allow/Deny option, while LS/HO give many more options such as allowing a connection on temporary basis, or allowing only the connection to a certain address. If they improve that feature then I would consider this a great app.

I decided to go with VirusBarrier X6 after trying other free anti-virus software from another vendor, only to realize that "free" doesn't come free of problems. VirusBarrier runs on my Mac like I expect it should. VirusBarrier X6 is robust yet has a very light footprint on my computer. The best part is that I can still use my MacBook Pro (w/ OS X Lion) when running scans! No lag or slowness occurred, even while running scans and listening to music at the same time I'm writing reports using MS Word. It's fully loaded with anti-malware features, two-way firewall, anti-spyware and proactive Internet security. The list goes on. I also found out that Intego is typically the first to update their virus definitions when new malware is found. Moreover, the Mac experts at Intego are normally the first to discover any new malware or Internet threats that affect Apple computers. Intego, as the only Mac security company focusing solely on protecting Apple products for over a decade, is the best choice for protection from malware.

VirusBarrier does not detect the virus Mal/Generic-L. SOPHOS (free of charge) offers protection against this virus since August 26, 2011. Details here: http://www.sophos.com/en-us//threat-center/threat-analyses/viruses-and-spyware/Mal~Generic-L.aspx Today is December 30, 2011, and Intego VirusBarrier including latest update does not detect it, even not when doing a direct scan of the infected file. The one time VirusBarrier needed to perform it failed miserably, mulitple times. Intego charge a lot of money for VirusBarrier, and as a customer for many years I expect nothing short of perfection from Intego. It seems, however, Intego find themselves so superb and perfect, that they do not even seem bother to benchmark their virus database against those of their competitors. IMHO, a very simple and easy, basic, standard procedure. At face value it now seems to me that Intego in their utter perfection and glory do a sloppy job, leaving me deeply disenchanted. In spite of 269 days of virus updates left, I de-install VirusBarrier as of this writing, because it quite apparently it is useless, when it is really needed.

After years as a satisfied customer (and reseller) using NetBarrier X5 we upgraded to the X6 (VirusBarrier) as to keep up with new versions of OS X. In doing that we left a lean well working, and to all other alternatives, superior firewall to a large software with a lot of good stuff* we did not needed. This did not represent a problem (other from one or two clients messing things up) as VirusBarrier is easily configurable. What was not obvious in the transition was that we were forced into a subscription system. Earlier the subscription was only about virus/malware definitions, now suddenly (and very quietly) it was the firewall itself! The Intego site is no clear at all about this; 'buy a protection' all over, not 'pay for a subscription'. In the future we (and our clients) are to fork out 60% of the initial cost yearly (in a one year plan)! Even strange companies as PGP (now Symantech) has a perpetual alternative. Worse, the reasoning for this is absolute ridiculous, Intego site; 'using out-of-date security software is dangerous'. This becomes completely nonsense when the Intego protection just stops if you forget to pay!! That must be much worse than being out-of-date. It is only for the $ as I see it. So, now back to reinstalling latest NetBarrier on all machines an clients, and stop all planed upgrades. *although in a test run it catches only 4 out of 15 virus (ClamXav detects them all in any package) Worm.BadTrans.B1 FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND W32.Elkern.C FOUND Worm.SomeFool.Z FOUND Worm.SomeFool.Z FOUND W32.PrettyPark FOUND Worm.Sircam FOUND Worm.Sircam FOUND Worm.Sircam FOUND

I use Parallels Desktop for some bits and pieces that my Mac can't do – timetabling software, and so on. Not much, but the odd thing. Parallels seemed to be grinding almost to a halt, and nothing I did seemed to make it go any faster – until I had a look in Peek-A-Boo and realised what was causing the processor to bog down. Unfortunately, it was VirusBarrier. Since I've removed VB, my Mac is very much sharper. Maybe I'll go back to VB one day and see if there's something in the settings that allows me to work around the problem, but for now I've simply removed it and plan to leave it removed. I've not seen a virus anywhere near my Mac since the days of System 7 (when there were more than enough to make life interesting if you happened to pick one up – thank you, university IT guys who didn't believe me when I told them the system was riddled until it melted down ...).

the program needs to be able to add Apple Time Capsule as it now does Apple TV to Trusted Addresses — this would avoid a lot of conflicts. it’s a bit confusing that this app comes with VirusBarrier Traffic Monitor, which is quite nice btw, and now also comes with a separate network i/o traffic monitor built into VirusBarrier. the network i/o traffic monitor built into VirusBarrier is a little too spartan even for me — when one clicks on it, nothing, no information, no drop down, not even an option to turn it off. and i could not change the colors from red and green to black and white and shades of grey — please stop with the colors for menu bar items. it seems the functionality of the network i/o menu bar item should have been built into VirusBarrier Traffic Monitor, unless intego plans on condensing Virusbarrier Traffic Monitor into VirusBarrier like they condensed the firewall and virus programs into one app — this app. and it should have come with the network i/o menu bar item turned off so i didn’t have to look up in my menu bar items and wonder which program did that — it would have felt right to turn it on myself. either VirusBarrier Traffic Monitor or the network i/o traffic monitor built into VirusBarrier could use some more personalization options — something like the network options in atMonitor. overall this is a nice (4 stars), solid and rather big upgrade though — and a much needed one too. the behavioral analysis update was much needed. the ability to scan ram for traces of exploit code is a big deal as i have read that that’s the way of a rather easy Flash exploit — and Flash is everywhere. now intego should get busy on updating WashingMachine as it is one of my favorite apps from them. if nothing else the user interface could use a bit of an overhaul to make it more modern looking. if there could be an easier way to add trusted cookies to preferences/cookies/keep these domains, that’d be real nice.

I find those nerd rage rants about how Macs need no protection a bit pathetic really. Especially here, where we're supposed to rate the application. For those who know that VirusBarrier protects from more than just viruses and/or are required by their employers (or even by law) to install protection when on mixed networks, VirusBarrier is an well thought-out application with minimal impact on the overall system performance - if you set it up properly according to your requirements. I find the deactivation of the whole product after 12 months a bit idiotic (what an unnecessary PR disaster) but least I'm happy with its performance.

I really like how in their preview image of the program they show "Eicar" as being a threat... of some kind. Eicar is not anything. It is a very very very old set of code that is used to test the general functionality of anti-virus software. It's not actually a virus in itself. It's used to make sure your anti-virus is even doing anything. http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm I'm guessing they're not showing any Mac viruses because there's been what... two?... since OS X's initial debut... and they were low-level trojans that required you to enter your Admin username and password. First was in 2006 and the latest was packaged in a pirated copy of iWork, and the trojan itself really didn't do much of anything and couldn't be spread to other Macs... because every other Mac would also have to grant this thing their soul by mindlessly granting admin access. If this makes you feel safe somehow, by all means install it on your Mac. There is currently no logical reason an anti-virus at this point in time. I don't know what updates this thing is getting, but I find it hard to imagine it's getting updates for things that don't exist.

I am surprised that some people are having a hard time with this software, as I have been running it for a 2 months with no problems at all. It is mostly invisible, running scans when I connect another volume or boot my mac in the morning.

Other Virus protection software I have used has been so bad I abandoned using it, but this one behaves very well and does exactly what it's told. If it starts a scheduled scan and I want to use all the CPU power for another task, I simply close the progress bar window and I get no argument. Other software I have used will not allow me to interrupt or postpone a scan, it will lock up my machine instead, not this one, it does what I say!

To the uninformed, be informed, welcome to the real world where millions of Mac-Haters can't wait to shoot the Mac OS down in flames. A recent scan of a friends disabled computer revealed 12 malicious items with root access including, 'OSX/RSPlug.B10!s1', 'OSX/RSPlug.A9!s1', 'OSX/RSPlug.gen7!s1', W32/FraudLoad.vaoa, et-cetera. (MacBook Pro, 2,6GHz, C2Duo, 4GB memory, OSX 10.6.2)

Ok, so since i installed virus barrier, the program has been a resource hog. I mean at times it is taking up to 600 MB, but typically when i'm having issues it's around 370MB. That is a crazy amount of memory! So that is not the issue. When i'm working in pretty much all the applications i use daily. (word, excel, powerpoint, photoshop, inDesign etc) All of a sudden i'll get the spinning beach ball and program become non responsive. I force quit virusbarrier and problem solved. (at least for 5-10 minutes, then it does exactly the same thing. I've added indesign, photoshop etc to the trusted list not to scan, but it doesnt help. (I will not add microsoft crap because that's the reason i have the antivirus software. Adding it to the trusted list defeats the purpose) So I contact intego several times. The send new update, doesn't work. Send a program to run a report when it happens and I've sent them like 6 reports and have not heard back from them... I'm pisssed with this software. It is just so buggy, that I don't know how they can let it out of their testing? So since i have to have something that is always running to stop things, this seems to do the job, just acts like malware constantly freezing programs and buggy.

After some initial problems with Virusbarrier (see below), mainly the transfer of Netbarrier rules from X5 to the new Virusbarrier X6, I can say this is a good upgrade. If you have Netbarrier X5, save your settings before installing X6, then change the extension from .ntb5 to .vbx6settings and import them back into X6 once installed. I've exchanged with tech support and after a little lag at first (I guess they were overwhelmed) they promptly answered all my questions and if you send them your current X5 license information for Virusbarrier X5 or Netbarrier X5 they can transfert your remaining subscription time to X6. With one application for virus and firewall, one license valid for two macs, this is a great solution which cost less to own than before.
