Mike Evangelist from Elgato here. Version 3.1 has not gone live yet. I suspect there's some confusion because the new Hybrid which we started selling at Macworld included a special version of 3.1 to support its new hardware. It will be a few more days before the general release is rolled out for auto-updates.

EyeTv used to be a 32 bit program. Once Apple went to 64bit the product stopped working. Emailed so called customer service and they sent me a beta version, that also does not work. Now they won't respond to emails. At one point I asked for my money back and was told I need to tell them where I bought the product, the actual receipt and how much did I pay for every. Now there is nothing...no response from anyone. TOTAL wast of time and Money. Stay away from EyeTv and all of their other products. You will lose in the end....

Wow this software has REALLY turned to garbage! This was SUCH a great piece of SW...I used it for close to 15 years but I've really started to look elsewhere for alternatives. I made the mistake of clearing the EPG and it went from an ailing piece of software to just a piece of...well, you know. SAVE YOUR $$$!!! This SW has been going steadily down hill for years.

I was very content with EyeTV 3.6.9 until today when I installed Catalina on my iMac. Now it does not work any more, needs an actualization to 64 bit. What can I do?

I completely agree with steve-320. I mostly use EyeTV as a browser to find movies and series I want to watch. But TV Guide has not been working for months now, and all Geniatech will say after repeated attempts to contact them is that they're working on a solution. Don't waste your money on EyeTV.

EyeTV has been going downhill since the damn Germans bought it. First they stopped supporting SiliconDust products. Now, the TV guide will not work (and my subscription is paid through September). I contacted support over a week ago, and got no response. I sent a second request yesterday. DO NOT BUY EyeTV. Stopped working and support is nonexistent.

Same here...paid through July and no EPG! Did you try this upgrade? I have version 3.6.9 (7416) and thought maybe this would fix it...

Jeff -- I have a later build (7520). I cannot update any further since this is the last one that support SiliconDust tuners.

I did get a reply finally. They said they had been busy celebrating the lunar new year. I did not find that in the least bit funny.

When indeed? I've got an EyeTV 250 Plus. I use that with the EyeTV software to record programs off the air. I'm in the position now of delaying my upgrade to Mojave because it won't run 32-bit apps.

Does anyone know of another app that will record from an EyeTV 250 Plus?

Bill, you were still able to use your EyeTV 250 Plus up to a certain point? Just FYI, you can still run 32bit apps with Mojave. I am using EyeTV with my old Hybrid stick. Still works fine. At some point, future versions of macOS will *not* support 32bit apps but for now you can still use them. You will just receive a reminder on launch.

But, getting back to the 250 Plus. I want to use this for the video capture capability. Sadly, the 250 Plus is not recognized by the latest EyeTV software (3.6.9). So I am wondering how you were using it? I did some snooping and found that my macOS System Report sees my device as a Terrtec Cinergy HT USB PVR. I tried selecting that in EyeTV but it says no such device is connected. I then discovered that the 250 Plus appears to be the same as Cinergy model 400/450. I chose that but still the software says it is not connected. So close but no cigar.

Running 3.6.9 and it works fine with my EyeTV 250 Plus. But I need something 64-bit that will work with the EyeTV 250 Plus so I can continue to use it on future OS X versions.

I figured out that I needed to locate the tuner by simply changing to the correct brand (Elgato's not on the list anymore) and then I was able to choose the EyeTV 250 Plus. While it does accept the S-Video source from the computer I want to connect, there are other problems with the video unfortunately. Not EyeTV's fault. I want a 64bit clean version EyeTV also but for now, the 32bit version works fine for me.

Be warned: the latest version of EyeTV no longer supports your Elgato/HDHomeRun tuners. Appalling I think.

The final version that supports HDHomeRun is EyeTV 3.6.9 build 7520.

VERY IMPORTANT: Multiple recent releases of EyeTV have been labeled 3.6.9, only changing the build number. If you want EyeTV to work with your HDHomeRun, you must not update past build 7520 of version 3.6.9! Turn off auto-update in the preferences. If you need the 7520 installer, it is archived here: https://www.geniatech.eu/support/eyetv-3-en/

This is a dilemma for some because builds 7521 and up improve compatibility with High Sierra, but won't connect to an HDHomeRun.

EyeTV forum threads quote the company as saying the dropping of HDHomeRun support is an intentional company decision by Geniatech.

Have been using EyeTV Diversity for nearly a decade. Hardware still functions well with Free-to-air broadcasting except for a occasional freeze requiring an un-plug and re-plug of the Diversity USB hardware.

I subscribe to a commercial EPG service in Australia and it works well. Records 95% of the time but occasionally misses programmes for some reason.

The good news is that EyeTV is now in the new hands of a Chinese software company who appear to be updating the software on a regular basis - bug fixing and making improvements. So 4 stars for keeping it up to date and generally bug free apart from the occasional hiccup.

This looks like build 7522; build 7521 and above apparently - and deliberately - break support for the Silicon Dust HDHomeRun.
