My advice these days is to WAIT a few days to update macOS and iOS. Apple appears to be at a particularly LOW point in coherence, VERY low. Expect the unexpected from them. If the latest OS update doesn't turn out to brick or mess over devices, reading about it in the news, update. I wish it wasn't this way! But we are #1, not Apple. Be safer than Apple.

Apple > Support > Downloads has stopped posting them publicly, as also the Mobile Device Updater for the iPhone 13s if that’s not included in this update. Thanks, always much appreciated when motivated younger people help those of us who were doing the same for others 30 years ago.

I'm sticking with High Sierra for now. I want to feel in control of my own life and to be able to make my own decisions by not having a machine make all decisions for me or pop one error message after another up about everything it can no longer do. I'm sick of having my workflow blocked and my level of productivity purposely slowed to a crawl. I work in the teaching / academic and research field. I need word processors and powerpoints that actually work reliably. I need a seamless integration of apps and communications world-wide. My MacBook Pro will be the last Apple product I will ever buy. Apple are no longer fun and the 'wow factor' has sadly gone.

Notes on the 11.5.1 update: I was never able to access the update from Software Update on my MacBook Air 2020 M1 running 11.5.0. Booting into Safe Mode didn't solve it and I never figured out the cause of the problem. Apple tech support didn't either. I ended up booting into Options/Recovery Mode, running Disk Utility (no problems found), then REINSTALLING Big Sur. The result was the full install of 11.5.1 That was the only solution.

Why is it that every time Apple updates the OS all my folders are returned to default? Does Apple (pretend to) know better than me as to enhancing my productivity? And, with this update, a "button" (I've forgotten what they call it) in Safari which I created to load all my common web pages has disappeared. But, on a positive note, actions appear to be a bit snappier than in 11.2.2 and earlier.

I have been paying for the app for several months without being able to use it because macupdate still haven't updated their app. Now I am receiving reminders to renew my macupdate subscription although not being able to use the app. Guess what i will be doing...

Since the last "update" (from Big Sur 11.0.1 to Big Sur 11.1), crashes and restarts on its own as soon as the computer goes to sleep. Also, for the first five to ten minutes after the unasked for restart, the fairly new computer is slower than slug. Furthermore, Apple keeps pushing two-face authentication on all devices every couple of minutes. Retards at Apple, like ca. 50% of your user base, I'm not interested in a two-way authentication: stop buggering Me, idiots!
