This is a great journalling app that continues to get more refined with each release. I was a long time user of viJournal before it got discontinued, and I think I like Diarly even better than viJournal. For those people complaining of subscriptions, there is also the option of a one time purchase. I chose the subscription model because this app is so good I want to continue supporting it going forward.

While the basic product is free, it is a subscription product for important features such as password protection, pdf and text export. Personally I refuse use any product that requires me to pay for life for full continued access to my own data or exporting it to a basic format such as rich text.

I own a number of journalling apps, on both iOS and Mac, and this is easily my favourite. It has by far the cleanest interface and gets out of your way so that you can focus on getting down your thoughts. It has full-screen mode with typewriter scrolling, word count and goal, multiple journals and a user-configurable template. It also syncs flawlessly to the iOS versions. I was a long-time user of viJournal, and I now, finally, feel like I have a new home for my journal - none of the other apps have ever felt quite right.
