If you don't have the money to pay for Little Snitch or HandsOff, this one might be for you. Great to see a freeware utility offering outbound firewall functionality.

Works really well! Nothing to envy LS or HO!. Recommended to control what's outgoing from your Mac. Working flawlessly in Mojave 10.14.3.

One major area where i do not support open/shared source is security related products. Completely counter-intuitive. The idea is to protect from malicious activity and be informed of what other software is doing, and maintain a staunch defense against attack. The idea is to make it as hard as possible for the evil-doers; why give them the advantage of seeing the source code. Can you make it any easier? Even the developer of Lulu says on the website: "Note, as with any security tool, direct or proactive attempts to specifically bypass LuLu's protections will likely succeed. " He also says, "..by design LuLu (currently) implements few self-defense mechanisms." Yes, if an app wanted to bypass Little Snitch and Hands Off, etc, it could try as well, but again, at least the source code for those products isn't out there to pick over. Don't make it any easier for the bad guys.. We're not talking about the source code to a text editor, people, we're talking about source code to a firewall product that is supposed to tell you what/who/where the software on your Mac is talking too (servers in China? Russia? Central Europe?) Now, if the user intent is to simply monitor outgoing connections (Lulu ONLY monitors outgoing; Little Snitch and Hands Off monitor both directions), any of these protects will probably do; if the intent is to have a product that is one brick as part of an overall security and protection wall, then LIttle Snitch and Hand Off are more appropriate. This is not a criticism of Lulu as far as what it does or how well, it's a discussion of philosophy and encouraging people to understand what it is and ISN'T, and do your research. Make no mistake about this people, with regards to cyber security, it is a WAR. And in a war, do you show your enemy your battle plan? By providing the source code, yes, you are.

bullshit - don't use it and go moaning somewhere else. Linux kernel is used all over the world and is full open source.
And what's wrong with Central Europe, yankeee doo?

You have to try this software before buy another software. it's free from trusted source, and open shared code, what else do you need? try it before pay others

What I need is a much better GUI than what I see in the screenshots.

As well as a very useful network monitor like Little Snitch has.

I use other Objective-See apps but I’ll stick with LS, especially since I have over 10 years invested in fine-tuning its rules which I doubt Lulu can import.

Version 1.1.1 is truly magnificent. IT dwarfs the ability of Murus and others like it in the ability to monitor and control out going calls by the software you have installed. You will be astonished to see how much of your software makes contact to various Google activities in the background when you don't know it! LuLu will give you the instant ability to stop it and another outbound calls that any software might try to make so that you can decide wether to let it happen or not. As I have said before THIS IS A MUST HAVE APP for your Mac....

sorry but comparing Lulu with Murus has no sense. Murus is a network layer front end. The real competitor of Little Snitch is Vallum.

Designed by one of the very best Mac protectors on the planet Earth. Pat Wardell has spotted more security problems on the Mac than Apple ever dreamed of. Zip gets by this little beauty. You will discover very quickly once you have activated this app just what kind of craziness is generated from your Mac by a host of app. To top that off you can stop the sharing of info etc right now! Easy to set up. Will fun silently if you choose. Ready for Mojave. This is a must have for the security of your Mac!

if you don't have money to pay for Little Snitch or HandsOff you can use Vallum for free or pay a little fee to disable the annoying popup.
