As Trance points out, it does phone home at every launch. And, since the app quits when the window is closed, this is basically at every movie file start. Please be open about what is going on here. The app could use a loop function, range selection, and keyboard control over window size. The video quality and default zoom settings are awesome though. AirPlay is built right into the player window controls which is very cool, but the green check mark icon in the controls is inscrutable. Maybe it means the file can be decoded or something. If the file is playing then the check mark is redundant. The app played back every weird file format I could throw at it. The player window controls got stuck sometimes and did not fade out, and the progress indicator (a distractingly large bright blue) didn't always line up with the length of the file playback. Despite these shortcomings, given the video playback quality and the handy AirPlay controls, this is a great beta release. If it had a playlist function it would be my default movie player now. Four stars for effort and encouragement.

Where is the "features" part of "feature-packed"? No menus to choose screen size, audio or subtitle choices (for mkvs that may contain more than one), A/V push/pull or *anything*. This is the most feature-barren video player I've ever used.

By far the best overall player I've used, and it's free!! I wish I could pay for this app, I feel bad using such a great app for free. It has gotten better with continued support from the team, I use it on my Windows PC's where it is great too. Plus it supports Acestream.

Keep up the great work guys!!

Thanks for the kind words!

Answers to each of your points:
- The app does 3 different kind of "phone home" network requests: at launch to get the SOCKS5 proxy info (for bittorrent), some anonymized analytics (that's mainly for the beta) and some error logging (for example, the ffmpeg trace when the transcoder fails). We will add a FAQ to the website soon, we will clarify this.

- The green shield icon is the embedded SOCKS5 for BitTorrent (blinking means currently in use). We will add tooltips soon to make this less confusing.

- Controls not fading out: hard to reproduce (and fix) but we're on it.

- There is already a very playlist feature (you can open or drag multiple files). We will add more advanced playlist controls soon (append to current playlist, reorder, remove from current playlist).

Regarding the more advanced features (range and co), we will think about those soon, we are really trying to focus on the core features, stability, performance, etc. at the moment.

Well I couldn't even test this because it wants to phone home on startup and then fails to launch with the bouncing dock icon. From what I can see from the crash logs it is likely related to the electron framework.
