I have been a long time Adium user, but troubles with Adium forced me to look at alternatives for Google Hangouts. So, I tried Yakyak. And I must say, it is pretty nice. It doesn't feature the customization that Adium does, of course, but it gets the job done. It also supports notifications. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a native Mac client for Google Hangouts.
