WhatsApp is the desktop client for WhatsApp Messenger, a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone, and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends. In addition to basic messaging WhatsApp users can create groups, send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages.

- Adjusted the order of message actions. “Reply” is now shown as the first option.
- Added an option in “Settings” > “Chats” > “Appearance” to set dark/light mode
- Added an option in text field context menu “Substitutions” > “Emoji Replacement” to disable emoji auto-complete.
- Fixed an issue where “Enter” key was jumping a line instead of sending a message
- Fixed an issue where “Unread” filter was missing at first launch
- Fixed an issue where the app became unresponsive after sending media
- Keyboard shortcuts improvements are underway, coming in a future release.

It is true that nowadays, almost everyone uses a smartphone, even infants. But those who do not have a smartphone consider the fact that there is no version for Mac as discrimination. The developer has been turning a deaf ear for years, to release a version for Mac, so that WhatsApp users are not dependent on a smartphone. Why ? Maybe this is a commercial explanation...

Update is really slow on desktop. It takes several minutes to synchornise chats - old version did not. And because it also 'works' offline, chats are husseled like hell when switching between desktop and phone. Some messages are not delivered at phones using 'old' version. So it now makes Whatsapp an unreliable irritating slow messaging service. Time to switch to something else.

DON'T USE WHATSaPP! Facebook told us how they own all our information on this app. There are safer, more private options including Signal, Telegram, and Apple Messages.
This app seems "free," but the cost is too high, IMO.

Well,from the beginning - I don't know why the connection between my iMac and iPhone broke during moving settings from old 6 on brand new SE.
Secondly it's a real nuisance that the only way of re-connecting them is via QR code with a ridiculous comment that the iPhone may sometimes not read it - with not a word what to do then.
Thirdly the User's Manual isn't the 1st thing I can find on a dedicated website.And this leads straight to the only disadvantage -as to my ... taste - of the communicator.
As far as other issues are concerned it works,it's reliable and generally user's friendly.
