And yet, I wasn’t able to find a single mention of BitMedic on MacLife (now part of TechRadar), MacWorld, CNET, BrotherSoft or Softpedia.
Looks like the dev. has intentionally misled potential buyers.
While they didn’t actually state that those sites reviewed their app, the mere appearance of them in the screenshots is obviously meant to infer they did. Why else would they be there?
That’s deception by omission, i.e. false advertising.
If that's incorrect, then the dev. should post supporting links here.

We are proud to be AV-Comparatives approved (score of 99% and higher required) and OPSWAT certified. The only antivirus app on the Mac App Store to have both. Please email us at support@pocketbitsllc.com for any issues and suggestions.
However, the certification date was on Halloween 2016, nearly two years ago.
And it was for the best NEW antivirus app. That doesn’t suggest that BM performed better than others that have been around for years.
And it doesn’t indicate that BM is a top-rated AV app today.
Posting a rating or review means you’ve actually USED the software.
And from your post it sure doesn’t sound like you did.
Therefore YOUR rating is as bogus as THEIR rating (which has apparently been deleted by MU).
BTW, developers giving themselves 5-star ratings is quite common on MU. I’ve personally had several of them removed by reporting them to MU.
