iON: Internet Status keeps you informed about your Internet/network connection right from the menu bar. Its icon indicates the status of the connection and opens to display other stats, such as your IP address, upload and download speed, etc.

If you look about 40 pixels to the right you can see the same information with the built in indicator. It's even in the screenshots. Adding color doesn't make it "beautiful" it makes it "colorful".

I don't know how this app compares to Bwanadik, but Bwanadik continues to serve me well -- even on Mojave 10.14.5 -- and is freely available in the App Store. Originally written by John Schilling of StimpSoft, Bwanadik is now maintained by Henk vanBruggen.

Yes, no trial. But I needed to control my provider better and for me it is very handy in the upper bar. Does what it promises. Worth the 4 bucks!

Another app with no trial available. Why? Once apple has the money in the app store it is difficult to get a refund if the app does not meet expectations.
