Using my MacBook Pro everywhere I go, being able to check for Wireless networks (and free internet hotspots!) is a must. This tool does a lot for the price tag. Definitely recommended!

After contacting the developer I discovered that the WiFi Radar Pro is only compatible with Airport deveices whereas I have a D-Link DWA USB Hub. THe developer was very friendly and helpful and suggested that I get a refund from MacUpdate. So MacUpdate over to you!!

Have tried to contact the developer several times about issues with the app (licensing and password management), with no luck.

I’ve used several WiFi scanners/monitors, and this is one of my least favorite.

There’s no preference window, but you can choose which columns to display by clicking an icon. However, there’s no tooltips if you have questions about them.

One column is labeled "Rates," but I have no idea what rate it’s displaying. There are odd sequences of numbers like 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54 and 1,2,5,6,9,11,12,18,24,36,48,54.

Is it the rate of inflation for trading puka shells for coffee beans?
Is it the rate at which Oprah has gained weight?
Who knows?!

There’s not even a column for signal strength!
That’s usually what I sort by, and it’s a MUST for me.

I don’t know why there’s a "Country" column.
Do you really need to see which country the signal is from that you’re connecting to? Is that for people living on the border between two countries?

I THINK the bottom part of the window displays the signal/noise ratio for selected networks, but I can’t be sure as there are no labels. There are times running across the bottom, but they’re in 24-hr clock format. Last time I checked I wasn’t in the military, so I don’t use that clock.

Each time I open the app, it opens as a small window.
So I maximize it, but the next time it opens it’s small again.

Gotta go uninstall it now.

I stumbled upon this comment and had to leave response. The "Country" field tells you which regulatory domain the AP is set to work with. Different countries/regions have different regulations about usage of frequencies and max. transmit power. For example, in the US, you cannot use channel 14 in 2.4 GHz, while in Japan you're allowed to use it for 802.11b networks only.

Was a bit disappointed in that it's only a monitoring tool. Was hoping I could change settings on my wireless router using this tool, but it only sees that it's there and shows performance. Its rare that I'm in a location where I need to see every wireless router nearby since I don't have access to any but my own.

Wi-Fi Radar Pro is an excellent utility for people whose work requires permanently stable Wi-Fi network. Live monitor is the coolest feature probably, as it displays all the network connection in the area in real-time. App window is pretty easy and informative. But if you work at the same place with the same network that you are satisfied with, there is no need to pay money for this app. So, I would recommend it as a helpful tool that would enable you to choose the best network and provide your work with reliable Internet connection.
