0.7.10
29 October 2019

Native OS X port of KeePass.

Overview

MacPass is a free, open-source password manager, which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. It is a native OS X port of KeePass, the free, open-source, light-weight and easy-to-use password manager.

You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key file. So you only have to remember one single master password or select the key file to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES and Twofish)

What's new in MacPass

I really like this application, because it's nice, fast, and does all things it should, using less than half of the resources that uses other Keepass db handling applications. But I can't give 5 stars until the application has translating issues like this: https://tinyurl.com/y6rrlkjp

Since MacPass has zero support options and there is no way to contact the developer, I have 2 questions that I must ask here: Can I import my 1Password database into MacPass? Is there a MacPass app that will work on my iPhone 7 (iOS 12.4)? Thanks for any answers provided.

An alpha software for a security apps can be dangerous. But it does look good and stable for the time being. Any ETA on a point release?

I hope you weren’t holding your breath for that release!

Because v0.7.3 was released two years after your post and is still in alpha.

And 8 months later it’s still the current version.

Who wants to trust their passwords to an app that appears to be obsolete?

@Big Johnson: Official releases are sparse but the development is still ongoing and active (check out https://github.com/MacPass/MacPass). The software is used by a large user base and I did drop the alpha handle when 0.7 was released.

Excellent app, like Keepass for Windows. You can use the same password db on both systems. The autotype doesn't seem to work and I can't find how to synchronize the db with a file. Anyone?

There are 4 options for password storage: 1. a text-only-file (simple but not safe) 2. Online-Password-Apps (simple, but not safe) 3. 1Password-App (great, but too expensive) 4. OpenSource-Apps (free, but limited)...so what: This is a good beginning! Simple, Safe and nice! Keep On Rockin, Guys! (3.5 stars because of missing features like automate backups, csv/txt-upgrade-backup-export...)

PasswordWallet, which also has an iOS app and synchronization. Much cheaper than 1Password to boot.

No relation, just a happy customer.
