Cisdem ContactsMate5.2.0

25 June 2020

Manage and backup contacts in one place (was ContactManager).

Overview

Cisdem ContactsMate (was Contact Manager) is a great contacts manager. It allows you to backup everything in Contacts; edit the Contacts fields; find, analyze, report, and fix dozens of problems with OS X Contacts; and export your address book to CSV, vCard, TXT, DocX, HTML, Excel, Numbers, and Pages formats for easy Contacts backup or sync. The release of version 3 adds new functionalities: make a group for contacts, batch-fix similar problematic contacts, and manually set suffix or prefix.

New Features
  • Import Contacts - Import and combine contacts Contact manager enables you to easily import contact or contact lists directly from a .CSV or vCard file. It also syncs with the built-in Contacts app on Mac and supports all leading cloud services, including iCloud, Google, Exchange, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, etc.
  • Easily view, add, edit, group, tag, and manage contacts - It is very easy to add, enrich, and update contacts and you can manage your contacts by applying a tag to sub-categorize contacts and organize contacts by groups based on sources, interests, affinities, etc. Meanwhile, you also can quickly find what you want with the intelligent multi-conditional search feature and send group messages, emails or start a call to your assigned lists of contacts and print mailing address.
  • Delete duplicate contacts, fix formatting errors - Cisdem ContactsMate automatically scans your contacts for exact duplicates, incomplete contacts and flicts, it will find all the problems with your contacts and flag them for fix or removal. Once flagged, you have the opportunity to review one or all of the duplicate contact groups and formatting errors before processing, then you can fix them quickly.
  • Share, export and back up contacts to quickly exchange information -Share Contacts via Mail, Messages, Facebook, Twitter, etc. or export the whole or assigned contacts list to local files in different formats, including CSV, vCard, Excel, TXT, DocX, HTML, Numbers and Pages. Then you can easily backup or import it to Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail, etc.

Most helpful

I mainly wanted the ability to tag contacts in groups which it can do and also assign a person more than one tab. I found that export gives a good format to print a list ordered by groups. It is annoying that you can't tab between fields when entering data.

Since this app is in a bundle, I decided to take a look at it. The interface is pleasant to look at, but not particularly functional. I found that to find duplicates I needed to press the scan button. It found many, but would not merge them without a key. (Limited demo.) The list of prefixes and suffixes is editable (perhaps a new feature?) if you click the "Edit" button. I, also, find the other positive reviews suspicious, as I also note the name format they all share. In short, it may be a worthwhile app for some, but since I already own BusyContacts and since the demo is so limiting, and since I have questions about the developer's trustworthiness, I will be holding back from purchasing this, even in a bundle.

To the developer: How can it be that I search for duplicate names (all other options unchecked) and it doesn't find ANY AT ALL, even if I have multiple entries of many contacts? After a sync with a Samsung S4 using Kies on a Mac (10.11) I have multiple multiple multiple (>20) entries of many contacts. (Don't use Kies, it's apparently badly programmed!!!) I purchased this app hoping that it would help me to eliminate the problem. But it doesn't. By the way: I can't find the option to simply search for entirely identical entries (i.e. not searching for duplicate name OR duplicate phone number OR ... but simply searching for duplicate contacts where all fields are identical. For the first question: Am I doing something wrong? If the answer here is yes and it can actually be done, then I'm wondering if the second point is possible?

Why is it that those with 4.5- to 5-star reviews have their profiles blocked, so we can't see what else they've reviewed? Try clicking on the reviewer's name link and it brings me to the regular MacUpdate page. Is that because they're bogus reviews? I wish that these developers would realize that a lot of Mac users can see through a bogus review fairly easily. I'm steering clear of their products because of this.

It is a useful app I never met. With this app, I can manager my contacts easily. what is more, i believe it is cheap than before I met it. so I take it.

Can it import an excel or csv file of many contacts into Contacts? And does the export feature allow for exporting a group of contacts?

Good utility and Good developer! I am a German user, and trouble with prefix/suffix not included in app system setting, so i e-mail them, and they promise to personalize a unique version for me! It surprise me!

Has some nice features like finding duplicates or possibly mis-formed entries but it's very clunky in other ways. For example, it complains that Dr. is not a valid prefix and DVM isn't a valid suffix -- those according it's own non-modifiyable table in preferences. If the table can't be modified why is it a preference? Also ridiculous: a quick test-run filled up my console with nearly 7000 garbage entries such as "Drawing arc 163" and "constructing angle 210". (Roughly translated -- the messages were in Chinese.)
