HiM overview

HiM (Hidden Cleaner iMproved) is a simple drag-and-drop utility that cleans and ejects USB devices like MP3 players, USB sticks... (and also local folders). Simply drag folders or removable devices into the main window or the application icon, and HiM will perform all the cleaning operations and (eventually) ejects the device.. It deletes the hidden files OS X creates like .DS_Store, etc. HiM is an improvement of Hidden Cleaner, on which is inspired, and comes also with a simple GUI. You can even customize the file list that you want to delete.

I downloaded - cleanmydrive 2 - and just before I opened I decided to do a quick 'reviews' search... glad i did. Flashy marketing + Free will sometimes make you forget to do the right thing and verify it's a good option first. That led me to finding - Hidden Cleaner - great comments from the community here at macupdate — only thing is… requirements state it’s only compatible with Intel systems. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a worth alternative compatible with M1 systems. Any guidance is appreciate. Cheers! - LS

At first I couldn't eject the pendrive, but after following the advice of Mark J. (adding the app to  System Preferences> Security and Privacy> Privacy> + Full Disk Access), HiM works perfectly. Thanks, Mark J.!

The website doesn't feature HiM any more, luckily it's still available here! :-) Thanks MU! (for those who still don't have it ;-) )

Hi all I have been using this app for years on macOS High Sierra and found it didn't work with macOS Mojave BUT I found out why with info from another app. To allow HiM to work in Mojave (must have something to do with Mojave's Security) grant HiM "Full Disk Access" under  System Preferences> Security and Privacy> Privacy> +Full Disk Access. If you apply this in Mojave it should work as normal without any problem, I have done it and tested it and it works like it does in High Sierra. Hope this helps, it did with mine.

I've tried a bunch of apps like this one and this is the easiest to use amongst the free ones.
I keep it in the Dock and drag the USB key on its icon. Done.
And of course: why pay for another app when this one does it perfectly and for free?
