Re-mount NTFS Volumes in read/write mode.

Overview

Mounty is a simple utility to re-mount NTFS volumes in read-write mode. Sometimes you will find yourself struggling with an USB stick from your peers which is NTFS formatted. Reformatting doesn't help since HFS+ formatted drives are not readable on common Windows PCs. Also, FAT32 will not help either when the file size is bigger than 2GB. Here comes Mounty: It uses the build-in capability of OS X and will not install any additional drivers. This makes Mounty a small and handy utility for your daily file sharing workflow.

What's new in Mounty

Version 1.9
  • Bug fix for crash when Volume does not contain UUID (e.g. MBR Disk). Note: Old devices which does not contain UUID cannot be tracked for auto-mount
  • Russian Credits Page added (again, thanks to Anton)
  • Added Russian Localization (thanks to Anton)
  • Added feature to automount volumes (without the notification)
  • Fixed equal volume name bug

This app saved me a lot of time. I was struggling with USB keys in NTFS formats for some time before I found Mounty. So far works perfectly for me.

It seems they have changed their website URL from enjoygineering.com to mounty.app. Unfortunately, they forgot to replace the server certificate. So now it's not possible to access the website, as the cert and the URL doesn't match.

Well they also forgot to add AT LEAST sparkle, leaving aside the fact it still corrupts NTFS system... and in reply you'll get as nice answer to install tuxera to solve the issue... not funny... yeah, i know its free, but who's willing to loose all its data... even for free?

I meticulously followed mounting and un-mounting procedure and it still corrupted my drive's directory. The Mounty website's recommended solution is to use Tuxera to fix it. Software that costs US$31. Seems like Mounty is really designed to sell Tuxera products.

Mounty is using a hidden function of the Apple kernel driver. There is no relation to Tuxera. You can also use Windows itself, Paragon, or free tools like TestDisk or RecuperaBit.

Thought this would be simple to cleanup some backups I have. Lost 10 years worth of files from an old hard drive...

Works perfectly and without any fuss. First time I launched it it let me know that it detected a mounted Bootcamp volume and asked me if I wanted to make it writeable. Perfect. Just one complaint: the menu icon of a blue mountain is WAY too wide and takes up too much precious real estate. Shrink that and I'll change my review to 5 stars!

Perfect for my needs: read/write NTFS disks. Does what it says no more, no less. Includes an option to Start at Login. Perfect.
