Amazon Music free download for Mac

Amazon Music7.12.0.2203

09 June 2020

Shop, play, manage, and download music (was Amazon Cloud Player).

Overview

Amazon Music is an app that allows users to shop, play, manage, and download music. The new app provides Mac users with a seamless way to manage their entire music library - whether saved on their computer or in the cloud - and shop from the Amazon MP3 Store with a catalog of more than 25 million songs.

Features:
  • One-place for all your music: Play your Amazon and iTunes music all from one place, even when offline.
  • A music library that is always up-to-date: Cloud Player automatically detects and adds new music to your library even if you bought it from iTunes or ripped a CD. The app does all the work for you.
  • An integrated MP3 Store: You can shop from the Amazon MP3 catalog of more than 25 million songs and discover new music with personalized recommendations, all without having to leave the app.
  • AutoRip: Buy an AutoRip CD or vinyl record from Amazon and a free MP3 version of the album will be added to your Cloud Player for Mac library.
  • Built for speed: Forget bloated players with extra features you don’t need or use. Cloud Player for Mac is lean, mean and made for your music. It’ll get you from launch to play in seconds.
  • Music management made simple: Download your MP3 purchases automatically or with one click. Export your music to other music players. Create and manage playlists using simple drag-and-drop.
  • Instant search & play: Find music easily and quickly. Type anywhere to search for an artist, album or song and play directly from the search results.
  • Rich artist content: See artist photos, bios, tweets, and gorgeous, large album art.
  • Anywhere access: Music purchased using Amazon Cloud Player for Mac is securely backed up in the cloud for free and made instantly available on any Kindle Fire, Android phone or tablet, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Samsung TV, Roku, Sonos, PC or web browser.

There is something wrong with this software, and it's been wrong for the last several versions. It's icon just keeps bouncing in the dock, and you can't get rid of it, except to uninstall the software, which you have to do with uninstall software. FIX IT ALREADY!!!

This is still a vile invader - refuses to quit once installed. Once again, needed to delete it at all levels. Yes, some true masochistic urge prompts me to try with every update. You'd think I'd learn, but, I still think there is no reason this app needs to be so hideous.

It would be MUCH better if it let you Cast Music to your Amazon Echo speakers like Spotify Connect. (from a mac or pc) - Note the mobile allows you cast music to these other speakers or groups of speakers, but the desktop app does not. When you do cast from mobile, it takes forever for the speaker to switch. Spotify connect is much simpler.

I keep downloading this in the now obviously hopeless quest for an app that actually doesn't totally invade one's system and refuse to be quit! You'd think I'd learn.... No, again, still, this benighted atrocity, while working, still refuses to go away when one asks it to. I've now officially given up. Let there be negative ratings, please.

The Software just updated on my Mac. Now whenever I click to play something it crashes. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted computer....everything I can think of. It will start up just fine, but when I click to play ANYTHING, it just crashes. Is there a way to install an older version.

Nope, it doesn't work. Running Mac OS 10.12.6 i7 MacBook Pro with 12GB RAM Will start first time but after quitting application and starting again a message saying 'application is not open' appears. No kidding that why double-clicked to start program again. I am still a glutton for punishment.

Not sure why all the 1 star reviews for this app. While the interface could be improved, I've had zero issues with finding music, adding favorites and streaming. I play most of my music via CD's I've ripped into iTunes, but when I want to listen to something I don't own I use Amazon music and have never had a problem.

I haven't had any issues with this app, though I use my Echos mostly for Amazon music. What I have a question about though is, How do I add an App to my Macupdate Watchlist with the new site layout? I don't see a button to follow anymore. I wanted to add this app. Thanks

Is it a joke?
Dam, it's a bad joke.
I really don't understand why Amazone can't manage to offer a functional software.

I think it's just for entertaining customers.

Say it: a bad joke!

It appears that there is a known problem with Amazon Music v7.4 and v7.5 where they crash on launch on many Macs. There are several threads on the issue in Amazon's support forum. The last version that appears to be working reliably is 7.3.2.1595. Do not update the app until Amazon releases a fix.

I have to say, when Apple already gives you all of the UI elements and the foundational code for an app to speed development, why break all of the rules and do your own thing? Perhaps they thought they could do better at building a Mac app foundation and developing a UI even though it will make a typical Mac user uncomfortable to abandon everything they expect from an app. Well, they were wrong. This sucks. It's awkward. Buggy. Ugly. Not intuitive. And unnecessary. Most will use it to download the files they bought on Amazon and then dump them into iTunes. For all of the complaining we like to do about iTunes, Amazon Music actually makes you appreciate it.

Why do you keep releasing another version as though it's fixed? It still will not quit.

I added a star, 'cause apparently this app now quits totally when one asks it to, without delving into the depths of the Terminal or needing an app delete utility. So, finally some good news on that front. Of course, it still puts itself into your startup list without permission and is a largely non-customizable mess- why can't I ask to ignore things, or delete them?

Nightmare of an app. One of the worst I have used in 20 years on Mac. Cannot start app after first quit. App icon stays stuck in dock. Activity Monitor says "not responding". Cannot quit; worse than that: CANNOT FORCE QUIT!!! The only way I can get app to work again is by reinstalling. Talked with 3rd level support and was told the above was "normal operation."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This new version persists in its pernicious behavior. The app refuses to quit, continues to appear as a startup item, and needs to be completely eradicated from all Libraries in order to remove. This is not acceptable.

This latest release installed and operated okay, but would not quit! And even force-quitting it didn't stop it from resurrecting itself like an immortal zombie! Needed to totally uninstall using Appdelete to stop this.

You now need to install this program to download mp3 files purchased from Amazon (which I listen to in iTunes, and do not want to listen to in the Amazon Player). The user interface for the Amazon Music app is a bizarre confused mess. To make matters worse, when it is installed, it defaults to opening every time you log in. And it doesn't even do this so it can be turned off on the Users & Groups preference pane: you have to use its own preference menu, buried deeply in the "Advanced" tab. Not nice at all.

This version and the last two versions won't load my library, they get stuck on "Loading your songs...". Tried lots of suggested fixes from Google searches, nothing worked. Giving up on this software. Can do everything I need from their web page anyway.

I've been using this off and on for five or six months (after taking a Prime subscription). I use it primarily for streaming playlists and stations. I feel it's a bit clunky - but it does the job. I certainly don't find that it's "completely unusable", as indicated by another user for this same version.

This update (5.2.2) rendered the app completely unusable. Now removed from my system until someone at Amazon fixes it (and tells me). Not holding my breath.

The software works but despite it NOT being in my list of startup items the executable item within the app package located at ../contents/MacOS/Amazon Music Helper is constantly trying to phone home. Any ideas on how I stop it unless I actually launch Amazon Cloud Player? The darn thing is being flagged for approval by Little Snitch more often than I feel comfortable with.

Well it works now, but "We're sorry, but Cloud Player Desktop is not supported in your region." Weird that the app works in the UK, but the desktop software doesn't. I can't imagine why that should be the case - presumably the back end of the app and application should be connecting to the same place on the internet?
