This app gets its data from accuweather.com, and their data is infamously erroneous.
Who cares how nice the GUI is if the forcast is unreliable?

Yesterday Weather Live showed rain at 7 & 10 pm.
Fortunately before I left, I checked a local news station's website and they showed no rain until tonight.
At 7 & 10 pm last night it was dry - stars in the sky and no sign of precipitation.
Now it’s the following day at 2 pm - still no rain but it’s overcast.

I've found that ALL the big weather data sources are unreliable, including NOAA.
They don't have humans interpreting the data from thousands of towns and cities across the country and tailoring a forecast for each area - their algorithms do that.
I've found the local meteorologists are much more accurate, because they look at the data from the local airport and other sources.

I’d lower my rating to 1.5 stars, but MU won’t allow me because I’ve already rated this version.

Completely hopeless! The app can't even get the current temperature right. It's a joke. I agree with "Big Johnson". All that coding, and the basic data is way off. How ridiculous.

I've tried to like this app, but the developer keeps failing to fix its shortcomings. I got it because the dev's site says "Helpful widget for your Notification Center in OS X Yosemite: see the weather forecast at a glance!" Well, sort of. In order for the widget to stay updated, the app itself must be opened. It's supposed to display weather symbols for four days. If you don't open it for two days, then only the most recent 2 days are shown, the others are blank. If you don't open the app for four days, the widget is all blank. As I've told the dev., I don't WANT to open the app every day and then close it just to keep the widget updated. Widgets are supposed to function independently, otherwise what's the point? Just open the app. Yes, the GUI is nice, but that's not the point. The widget, when it's been updated, usually shows me all I need. If for some reason I want to know what time the sun sets, THEN I'll open the app.

I loved this when I first downloaded it, but it isn't working at all now. Most of the time it shows nothing at all (an pretty image, but no text). Sometimes it shows (null) in place of all data that should be there. Very frustrating. :/ It anyone can recommend a 'fix' for it, I'd appreciate it. I had hoped that quitting out of it and opening it again would fix it, but it did not.

Doesn't hold a candle to Seasonality Core in terms of features and weather data presentation. Seasonality is also a gorgeous, intuitive app that even my mom can use. If one is going to pay for a weather app, it should in my view provide some value beyond what is a few clicks away in any web browser. Weather Live instead attempts to bring iPhone weather to a Mac without exploiting the extra computing power and display size. More weather information is also available for both Android and iOS phones/tablets in free weather apps like Weather Underground or Yahoo Weather.

Commercial ($2.99) is not "Free". Please update that info. Not sure what for people need apps on the desktop to check their weather. But that is just me and I'm not from the US.

These kinds of apps are (1) mostly eye candy, and (2) are for people who travel a lot, and are not familiar with the weather patterns and conditions of wherever they happen to be at the time (including the airport or train station). Of course, now that almost everyone has a smart phone with internet, these serve less of a purpose.

MJ,

Remarks from someone who hasn't used the app is a COMMENT, not a REVIEW. Learn the difference so you don't screw up the ratings!

Well, you wrote that 3 years ago and haven't posted again in nearly 2 years, so you may not read this.

Since you're obviously ignorant, I'll tell you why people need weather apps. But first of all, WTF does being from the US have to do with it? You think folks in other countries don't care what the weather will be?

Looking out the window or going outside only tells me the weather at that moment. If I want to know what the weather will be in the afternoon or the next day or in 3 days, I'll have to open a tab, type an address, enter my zip code, and hopefully all the information is there.

Or I can simply open an app or Notification Center and have the info in seconds. And with this app I can set up multiple locations, choose which information I want displayed and receive alerts.

Believe it or not, there are a LOT of people (in the US and elsewhere) who don't own cell phones.

Despite what TeddyBear said, it's not only for people unfamiliar with the weather patterns where they are. I've lived here for 30 years, so I know what the seasonal weather patterns are. That doesn't mean I can predict the conditions in four days, or even tomorrow. Apparently TB doesn't realize that the weather CHANGES - that's why there's a job position called Meteorologist.
